- The word on the lips of every Scooby-Doo fan right now is the HBO Max series 'Velma', so naturally that means I go back to 1969 and pick on the bad guys from the first season of 'Scooby-Doo: Where Are You?'.
I'll probably get around to 'Velma' eventually.
Maybe.

I’d argue that Bluestone’s projector is PART of his costume, and thus should’ve given a somewhat higher score in the costume segment
Agreeable
very much agreed. if i saw a dude with a sheet, i'd point and laugh, until that man walked through a wall. then i'd run for my life.
No. It's still only a prop. The costume is what you are wearing.
And Captain Cutler he sure can run fast through dense water.
Good ol' cartoon physics!
Same reason why the Gang can communicate with each other through the water.
On a re-watch, I think that Bluestone the Great wasn't untied by Fred or any of the Gang, but used his skills to just get out of the ropes on his own. Which in one sense is its own brand of showing off.
He's the Roger Rabbit of Scooby villains!
Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
It occured to me recently, Scooby is a dog, and he can talk. Therefore, he'd be able to catch the scent of the monster and tell exactly who the villain under the mask is..five minutes into the shows. "Like, Scooby days the swamp beast is old Mr.Smith!"
I've often thought that as well.
Perhaps phosphorous paint and foam rubber masks the smell of human sweat?
@@JoeGoesOverthan scooby can smell it on the person
Or like cutler being underwater would significantly hamper scent when not in water even if he was around the wife’s house though he might have a saltwater smell
Scooby lost his sense of smell in order to learn how to talk, similar to Meowth on Pokémon.
Or too many spicy foods ruined his sense of smell.
Gets even more egregious in later series where Scooby does start using his nose on occasion, but as far as I know, never smells out the villain beyond maybe one movie.
The first episode of Scooby-Doo Where Are You and that third episode about Captain Cutler is the only time they use that intro title card.
It's weird, isn't it? Everything Hanna-Barbera did was designed to save money, so I can only imagine those title cards were originally created with the idea that every episode would have a custom design (like 'Jonny Quest'), but when Bill or Joe saw an artist working on one, they said, "What's the point? Just use the same run cycle over a generic spooky background and call it a day."
It's like how the second and third title cards for season two of 'The New Scooby-Doo Movies' had a red background and all the rest before and after were blue.
I'd like to think it was some sort of hidden message by the director or one of the animators, like a calling card or Easter Egg, but I would never rule out simple sloppiness on the part of whoever was making the titles for those two.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yeah, it's a shame cause i love those 2 title cards as they have a kinda B Movie artwork vibe. Or something you'd see on a comic book with a horror theme. Makes me wonder what other similar title cards coulda looked like for more episodes.
I love the black knight he’s a terrifying and strong villain
That one boat that the Cutlers stole looks like the SS Minnow.
I heard that their grandson Jay had an NFL career.
Jay should never had been traded from Denver.
Old video I know. But hank mightve been lying to the gang about him planning on leaving. Just as an extra scare to chase them away. After all he said that out of ear range of his boss.
Scooby does his impression of John Wayne.
In which of his movies did John Wayne hop up and down saying, "Boo! Boo! Boo! Blah, blubble, blubble, blah!"?
In defense of Scooby, I don't think I could do much better.
@@JoeGoesOver He should have at least called the ghost "Pilgrim".
Oh great. Now I have the image in my head of John Wayne acting like a toddler.
I enoy watching this series. I do want to argue that Wickles wasn't as sloppy as it seemed, though. He likely would have cleaned up any mess he made before the museum opened in the morning. It just happened that the gang broke in to investigate while Wickles was working. He probably didnt call the police because he wasnt supposed to be there after the museum closed either so the police mightve started questioning his presence as well. This is just a guess.
EDIT: I'm also wondering if the reason Bluestone didn't spend much time looking for the treasure because maybe he never cared about the treasure. Maybe instead he was using the castle to hide out since he was in so much trouble.
I could see that being the case, but it still seems like he made a ridiculous mess when he didn't need to. And even if he was planning on cleaning up later, we're talking PAINT. When that stuff spills on the ground, it's extremely difficult to clean up. Even though he was likely using oil-based pigments and they wouldn't dry for weeks, that kind of paint would also tend to spread into the tiny cracks and grooves in the flooring, making it that much more difficult to remove.

That ham sandwich bit is always considered the one paranormal thing unexplained in this show among fans it seems.
Definitely sketchy, but is it any more supernatural than, you know, a talking dog?

Honestly one of the best Scooby vids on the platform. I would know I’ve seen at least a hundred by now lol. I’ve always enjoyed your content but this one takes the cake. The inferences you make on the plot points and information in the episodes is really entertaining and seeing as Where Are You is my comfort show it’s extra fun for me to watch. I know these episodes like the back of my hands. Can’t wait to see the next part!
Thank you very much! Enthusiastic comments like yours are definitely an incentive to keep working on them!
@@JoeGoesOver 17:20: Gotta give Bluestone credit, he's a good sport about his arrest. Even if he were to show off his "last performance", he's not above taking the opportunity to escape like some villains do: ruclips.net/video/t0PPfZIi6B8/видео.html
Yeah, especially seeing how he apparently used his magic tricks to untie himself.
@@JoeGoesOver are you alive
@@Ethan-ld6bp Yes he’s alive; he’s busy, not dead.
enjoyed your mystery inc video so back for these
Thank you very much! I suspect most people who found these got here from my 'Mystery Incorporated' video.
I have no idea why that one reached as many as it has, but I'm happy it did so because it allowed my content to grow enough to do these videos for more and more people!
Thanks for watching!
I will say that in Mr. Wickles' defense, it was openly admitted that the professor was likely the only one to be able to spot the fakes at all, and while the likelihood that it would be found out in the moment is low at that point, Wickles likely didn't wanna risk it. Other than that, your other reasoning is sound. Actually, here's another question posed by the episode: How did he breathe with his mouth covered up and trapped in that disguise in the museum by the curator?
I focused on the lack of bathroom breaks for the professor, but that's a good question, too.
I'm guessing Hyde-White didn't have a deviated septum so he could breathe through his nose.
Unlike me, where having my mouth covered could result in suffocation!
Thanks for watching!
Also, were there no security guards in the museum? Not even any alarms or cameras?
He does have his nose not covered so hopefully he can breathe through that. Of course as Joe mentioned even if you assume a 24 hour time between nabbed and freed the professor has most DEFINITELY soiled himself in some way at least once
70s so probably not enough camera tech. And if there was alarms the gang would’ve definitely set it off when they crashed through the ceiling and smashed stuff which btw IRL would cost up to millions likely if not be priceless
@@JoeGoesOverOh, like Randy Hickey
I think hassle in the castle and a clue for Scooby Doo are mixed-up
There were a couple of episodes here and there that seem to be the source of confusion, mainly due to the difference between broadcast order and production order.
I try to go by established broadcast order, but that's not always a guarantee since even then some sources differ.
Thanks for watching!
14:40 there's a Tumblr head canon that that's an actual haunting
They've got a few of these baffling moments scattered throughout the franchise, where there is an obvious supernatural event that never gets resolved by the end.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I actually estimated the height and weight of the black knight
I scaled Wickles up with the tallest member of the gang being shaggy (shaggys about 6’0 tall) and he’s about 5’10 inches tall and looks to weigh around 230 lbs In his armor he’s about 6’3 inches tall and 280 lbs
Great ranking! My favourite that was in this video was Captain Cutler
He definitely is up there and is one of the most classic of Scooby villains!
@@JoeGoesOver he's certainly iconic!
@@JoeGoesOverMy favorite villains were him, Redbeard, the Indian Witch Doctor and the witch and zombie.
Just realized that Fred was pulling the door when they were locked in the ship when it was a push door
Sometimes a villain doesn't have to put in any extra effort to kill the Gang.

Watching this after the OceanGate Titan implosion. That billionaire joke made we chuckle
Well, THAT put a bit of a darker spin on something I wrote.
I'm actually glad the sub kerfuffle happened long after I published my video because who knows what kind of tasteless joke I might have used instead!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
About `19:34, in an idea for a live-action remake of this series, a nightguard IS hired, but, Cutler quickly dispatches him with a harpoon gun to the stomach. And he does so to multiple other people, turning his operation into a Jaws knockoff.
Don't give the 'Velma' producers ANY ideas...
The golden age of piracy lasted fron 1560 to death of black Bart Roberts on Feb 20, 1722 as he was consider as the last great pirate.
Pricay did last after that tho
@@tfordham13 yes piracy does continues to exist to this very day but like not its golden age
I just found out about this series and I simply can't wait to binge all of the episodes.
This video is awesome dude.
Thank you so much for saying so! I really appreciate the kind words! They truly keep me motivated to keep producing these videos!
Sadly, the past couple of months have tossed a bit of a monkey wrench into my goal of one video every other week, but I'm halfway done with the script for my next one and hopefully I can start filming once my out-of-town guests leave.
I hope you stay with me!
Thanks for watching!
Dissing the Ten Eyed Man...how dare you! These videos are great! I didn't realize there were so many parts so I did watch quite a few out of order, but finally got to part 1 of the very first season.
To be fair, like most of the early Scooby series, they can be watched in any order.
You may just not get a few of the running gags.
Something, something, Carl, something, something...
I rewatch this video often whenver i rewatch the whole series and the part at 16:02 where joe insinuates that only cowards are scared of being bisected always gets me.
I mean, it's JUST being cut in half! How bad could it be?
And thanks for watching, commenting and supporting my channel!
In what a night for a knight mr. Wiccles was a small guy he got out of the stocks by just taking the gloves off and slipping his hands through as the circles in the stocks were very large they would have never held shaggy or Velma either. As far as the sheet ghost I can remember back in the days when passing out candy as a grownup I seen many eyehole sheet ghosts. And as far as the dog napper you always say that they never put Scooby on the leash but this was the only time when Scooby was pretending to be an expensive dog that shaggy had him on the leash.
Can’t wait for the next one!!!
Thank you! Hopefully it won't take forever. Since I won't have to spend so much time on the introduction, I hope to be quicker with Part 2 than it took doing Part 1.
Honestly since I can't get enough of these videos, here I am ready to binge the entire series again xD
It's appreciated!
something about this series is really soothing to listen to not sure how man times i have looped this ranking but I hope it helps
Very impressive, you know for the Miner Forty-Niner he doesn’t seem scary because he just looks like a normal man but at Monsters Unleashed gave him an improvement and speaking of which have you seen the Negative 10 rewrite because in that video they change some of the members of the Negative 10 over the episode we got from Ben 10 and it got me thinking about Monsters Unleashed by improving some and replace a few other monsters that the Evil masked figure brought to life.
Yeah I wonder what happened to Mike the Witchdoctor’s henchman because they should have put in the same spot where his boss gets caught.
Always nice to see another ink tank subscriber
@@ronswanson7371 I’m didn’t subscribed I just saw the video and I liked with one nitpick that being the final member of the Negative 10.
Quite a few of the classic Scooby villains just look like "normal" people. It'll be a while until we see mantis monsters and cat-headed gorillas.
@@JoeGoesOver but I’m saying that Monster Unleashed did an improvement on the Miner to make him more of a threat unlike the Zombie who was kinda useless which they brought in his partner the Witch and maybe a few other monsters.
I remember watching The Negative 10 Rewrite. The Ben 10 Breakdown series is legend!
Miner 49er has the same outfit as Hank though. I feel like that has to be a strike against him unless it was a specific work uniform (counting its generic-ness aside).
Love this content though! Can't wait to watch the series.
Thank you kindly for your nice words and for watching!
New upload is incoming and should hopefully be live in a couple of days.
I think Miner 49'er deserves a lower outfit score, considering the clothes he uses for his Miner 49'er disguise, is literally just his normal clothes
You make a good point, but "unhoused guy looming in a cave" is plenty scary in its own right, and that's the outfit.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JoeGoesOver If he were to scare away others, he would’ve included mining tools used as a weapon, like the Live-Action Theatrical Sequel did.
@2:26 or in Charlie Brown's case, a Rock.
I would rather be given a rock than a circus peanut.
It's not even a contest.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Man your channel is so great and it goes so in depth I wish more people would find these videos
Thank you for saying so!
RUclips isn't the greatest when it comes to spreading videos out, unfortunately, and every upload is a combination of "Will this get copyright flagged?" and "Will this get seen?".
Just a thought that came to mind, But what if the Witch Doctor had instead been portrayed as a Skinwalker? Imagine how genuinely terrifying he coulda been as a master of disguise with his costume tweaked a smidge. It'd even be less culturally insensitive in a sense. seeing as they are a notorious evil being from folklore that would even not be too far off from his costume in depictions. Just a thought i had watching this, as i'm a big fan of spooky stuff (not so much gorefest horror) But for more genuine horror that is simple like Scooby Doo. I'm also a writer who often makes horror themed comics from time to time. So i like to speculate on such things. But i feel if they had made him a Skinwalker instead of a Witch Doctor,
A-The animals being dognapped is a reasonable thing to expect from such a being.
B-He then could've used life like dummies of those dogs with some creepy additions like yellow glowing eyes or deformities to help in his scheme.
Granted, this'd work more in What's New or Mystery Incorporated. But still. Just my 2 cents on what ways the monster could've been FAR more intimidating and unique.
You're making me wonder what a Scooby-Doo episode written by HP Lovecraft might have been.
We got some Elder God stuff in 'Mystery Incorporated', but it'd be interesting to see what the actual guy himself would come up with.
If they could get him to leave his house long enough to submit a script.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
love the video mate. funny and insightful commentary on all these classic villains, I love the educational takes on the villains via real world law and history references. super glad to see you're still making videos, will be here for part 2
Thank you kindly and I hope you're there for Part 2!
I don't usually go to channels that review tv shows ( which is kind of funny, given my channel name), but your videos on "Scooby Doo Where Are You?" are so entertaining. I've watched this video several times already. I anxiously await part 2.
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Most of the RUclipsrs I follow do film and TV reviews, but oddly enough they never touch on Scooby-related stuff.
I probably wouldn't want to watch videos like that, though, at the risk of tainting my own reflections (I'm just that impressionable!).
Part 2 is currently in the writing stage, but there might be one or two Shorts uploads before that one.
@@JoeGoesOver No problem, you deserve it. I've watched a couple videos on Scooby Doo, but none of them have entertained me much. You have a subscriber through me.
I'd give hank more credit. he wouldn't need to have a shell business or corperation. all he'd need is to get someone else to buy the land for him, then pay off that guy and reap the rewards.
"My old boss is selling his land. here, take this money and go buy it for me, and you can keep whatever's left, plus a bonus if ya give me the deed for everything quickly."
BAM plot succeeded.
glow stick liquid is also toxic, so i doubt he'd do what you suggested.

To be fair, though, there's a lot of detail because I clearly adore the sound of my own voice.
I hope you catch Part 2 in the (sorta) near future!
I remember being absolutely scared of captian culter as a 4 year old. And i watched all of scooby doo i could find on repeat. The episode always was only one i refused to rewatch as a kid and probably gave me thalassaphobia. Good villian overall.

Thank you!
Patiently waiting for part 2 🔥
Part Two is in the rendering stage as I type this. It's a little over 40 minutes long, so it's unfortunately taking forever to process.
I hope to have it uploaded and available later tonight or tomorrow, but that will depend a lot on RUclips's content-matching algorithm. I do my best not to set it off, but it occasionally hits me, requiring me to go back to the editing and rendering stage.
Didn't know I needed this series, Such a relaxing video to watch really enjoyed it and looking forward to watching more.

Scooby opened the door that he saw the eye through and no-one was there so there is no answer to whether it was big Ben or not and even if it was there is no way he'd be able to get away from the door in about 3-4 seconds before Scooby had the chance to open it, and even if it was possible we'd have heard the footsteps and we didn't.
You'd think, right? Big Ben wasn't exactly small.
Probably why he got that name.

1. The black knight, ghost of captain Cutler, and miner 49ner should be laughing instead of growling
2. The witch doctor should laugh while he plays his maracas silently and while he was disappearing in the fire
I listen to your whole Scooby-Playlist while working on maps and stuff on my computer. For some reason, RUclips's not keeping my likes, I'm back here again and it doesn't show I've liked it
I'm glad to be your background music!
RUclips can be flakey depending on the platform (PC vs smartphone vs smart TV).
I would definitely recommend subscribing because, obviously apart from the fact that it helps my channel with the algorithm, it will hopefully help increase the odds of my new ones showing up in your feed.
RUclips will often still recommend my videos or play the next one if a non-subscriber has already watched a previous one, but that's not a guarantee. In fact, even subscribing won't guarantee a new upload shows up as recommended.
Even as someone who has obvious reasons to pay attention to subscriptions, I've found myself enjoying a channel and watching a stream of their videos pop up in my recommendations before realizing that I hadn't yet subscribed.
