*Zombie:* We want the mask!
*Shaggy:* With faces like that, you ought to have two masks.
Even in the early days of the franchise, Shaggy could be very, very savage.
And he wasn't even trying.
This and the "Double ugly" line from Which Witch is Which are legendary.
“Don’t you know it’s illegal to sell fireworks in the store room…
We’ll build a new store room” is a pretty funny gag lol
“Don’t you know it’s illegal to set off fireworks and wreck a storeroom?”
“We will build a new storeroom!!!”
I always loved that bit. 😄
“Like who’s gonna build a…new us?”
It's always nice when the third face of the holy Trinity - Doctor Wolfula, Ghoulash, and Cyd - pops up to give us a boost of thoughtful Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia.
It's interesting that the animators seemed to have done a fair bit of research on northeast Asian art and history (even if the writers didn't), making the backgrounds in a style inspired by imperial Japanese inkbrush murals and drawing the background characters in a style based on Ming Imperial woodblock prints.
One of the lead animaters of this show was Japanese American
It's really great to see the SCOOBY-DOO review series to continue! Thank you Doc! :)
A new Doo Talkin' To Me?! Nice!
They way I got low-key jump-scared when this popped up in my notifications. Welcome back, Scooby Dooby Doo's Day, where were you? 😆💀
Same, I thought RUclips was recommending me an old vid I missed
Zen Tuo and his minions don't feel like typical Scooby-Doo villains. They look and act like they should be villains in Jonny Quest or one of Hanna Barbera's other action cartoons.
What I find ironic with the "racist" parts of this episode is that this episode was directed, wrote, and helped animate by Iwao Takamoto. An asian man who put pen to paper/paint to paper the stereotypes shown. And he was in those interment camps in the early 40s. But of course we also have to take account the times that was going on in the world at the time. The Vietnam War was raging, and communist China was rapidly rising as a super power due to their culture War wich lead to a rise of Chinese "migrants" that were illegally smuggling opium and even fine works of art that weren't destroyed by the communists due to the culture War. So it shows why many things in entertainment industry at that time didn't have a good look for Chinese or South East Asians, and Takamoto, being Japanese, probably didn't have a liking to China at the time.
i find this a rather memorable episode, why they kidnapped Daphne I don't know, if they'd just taken the mask, they might have gotten away with it, the fact they just left Daphne bound and gagged behind a statue is rather creepy, were they planning on leaving her there to starve, seeing Daphne bound and gagged is always nice for some reason
Its tradition..It wouldnt be Daphne if she wasnt at some point or another..
I think they were going sell her into sexual slavery.
It’s always nice to see another damsel fan.
The henchman deserved names, since they were in so many scenes. They did a lot of work for being nobody’s lol.
They're collectively called the Scare Pair
You silly
2:53 I can make you happy chase song
This is a chase song that happens when the whole gang gets chased in it. Plus it was very unique because it was a car chase AND it was fitting because unlike other chase songs that were about "love", I Can Make You Happy was a song about going places
man, I missed these vids, Scooby doo was my whole childhood, so these reviews really give something enjoyable to watch. thanks Cyd!
I'm glad the scooby reviews are back i really miss these. Honestly compared to alot of chinese stereotypes in older cartoons this episode was very tamed.
Yeah come on. Scooby and shaggy aren't gonna apologize 45+ years later suddenly. Shut up!
That golden mask looks bloody cool 😎. 😀👍
Glad this series is back
There is another.. now we have Dr. Wolfula, Ghoulash, and *shudder*... Cid. I'm terrifed.
Just re-watched the series last night. Can't believe another episode is ffinally out.
Another entry in a delightful series. These make a dull Tuesday a little brighter.
I like the Superstar growing up. I was always fascinated by Chinese and Japanese culture as a kid.
Welcome back, Syd! Glad you escaped Doctor Wolfula!
Glad to see a new Doo talking to me
4:50, And to think that Shaggy balked at first at the idea of sending Scooby to the Evel Knievel Dog Training And Stunt Jumping Academy.
Currently watching all the episodes they have on Tubi!
So glad to see this series continue
It's alive! It's alive!
This series, of course.
3:48 Davy Jones did the song better in his guest star stint in an episode of "The New Scooby Doo movies"
Hooray! More Doo!
I listened to the first two minutes of this review before I realized my PS5 controller was unmuted in my wreckfest lobby.
Love these videos. If only we could get them regularly.
The way I quoted Skooks Everytime you played a scene from the episode is somewhat concerning
Glad these are back!
Oh thank god....something comforting on my feed. ...
Love these Scooby reviews. Glad they're still being made.
Great review! Enjoyed it
Please keep up this series
I was worried this series was over
6:17 Way Before Home Alone. Credit To Freddy.

1:49 I think the word cartoon was cut in half here

OKay yea that rating at the end is actually a fair one.
I'd just seen this episode yesterday! 💙
Great job cyd keep up the great work all ❤ from over here !!!see ya next die in theatre !!!
Woah its been nearly a year since the last episode review 😳
4:07 They're trying to act like ghosts but driving a car?
Oh perfect I was just looking for something to watch while eating a bowl of fried rice.
Not one of my favorites, but still a fun episode! I love it!
0:26 Or could it be that the Ghostface mask just an upgrade of the Mystery henchmen masks? 🤔😉
Awesome 😎 episode
Well they definitely wasn't PC when they made this cartoon.
I missed these
C'mon doc. Whenever you see a continuity error, a wizard did it.
Please bring back goosebumps series !!
Doctor wolfula and goulash you think you can do more live action Scooby-Doo sequels
scoody-boo!
I’ll never get tired of thank you to my sponsor……meeeee just like I’ll never get tired of Tyra banks is in this movie?!?
more goosebumps reviews!
I respectfully disagree about "I can Make You Happy" it's always been my favorite of the cheesy Scooby-doo pop songs and by the amount of fans who have been wanting an official release of it for years, I bet its a lot of other people's as well. And kudos to Austin Roberts, his version is way better than the cover Davy Jones sang.
A Chinese laundry ticket… man this has not aged well.
how shaggy and scoob portray chinese is exactly how I perceive chinese people talking lmfao
This was another one I usually skipped when it came on. I applaud them for trying new stuff, but this wasn't very scary even to a little kid. A for effort though.
Its not hard at all especially in this certain Tale , that Key Luke is the Bad guy. Even with a mask on its SO over Obvious its Him behind the mask.
Despite its rather racist moments here and there (bad Shaggy and Scooby!), overall this is one of my favorite episodes. The setting is very interesting even if the villains aren’t, and the car chase is up there with the Creeper chase for SDWAY’s best. We don’t get to see Fred do his stunt driver thing very often, and this episode gave him that then-new little character aspect beyond being the leader, driver, and trap-maker of the gang. I also think some of the gags here are contenders for the series’ best, such as the storeroom exchange and the Scooby-cycle, and Scooby’s solo portions of the chase. As for the villains, while they really aren’t the most active of the SDWAY rogues gallery, the two zombies are certainly visually striking, and Zen Tuo has probably the coolest entrance to any episode, even as an improvement on the “Native American” Shaman’s fire pot trick. All in all, it’s an episode with a couple of moments that make me cringe as a millenial, but on the whole remains enjoyable and still very funny to watch.
Cyd sounds sick
Or recovering
Not allowed to do bad impressions anymore. Right Doc?
Ahh, the good old vague "smuggling". For when cartoons want to portray a character being involved in organized crime without upsetting the censors.
Eyy
You should see that scene in the John Wayne Western "El Dorado" where James Caan's character disguises himself as a Chinese man to sneak past a guard, and I quote, "OH-so, wink-CHOW! wink-chow".
It's actually a really good Western, but that scene... my God...
I’d rather see more Scooby doo reviews than two bit horror movies most people have not heard off.
As for why they took Daphne hostage. To me it’s simple, they would get rid of her friends and then sell her into sexual slavery.
people call this racist when in reality they should be calling this episode inclusive.
Did u give up on ghoulash channel?
????????????????????
It's finally back… It's hard for me to forget that racist moment where Shaggy pretended to be Chinese. Like yikes.
No one wants reviews of scooby doo episodes 🤣🤣 where did you even get that from 😂
