- Follow the build of this black walnut waterfall end table. How to video explaining how you can build the same table your garage or shop. I’ll explain gluing the joint, leg styles, even a detailed look at how to get a professional finish in a dusty garage. *EDIT: I no longer use Odie's Oil. This table had to be redone with another finish. Odie's dries out in a month or two, for me anyway.

This table is really well designed. Every piece is clearly labeled, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW and the instructions are perfectly displayed, so it's really hard to mess up the assembly. The hardware is likewise clearly labeled. If I had a power driver, assembly time would have been cut in half, but I didn't mind the light workout. My only qualm is that is that the lift top is wobbly in between its open and closed positions, but that's really a minor complaint. For the price, you really can't get much better than this, hence the five-star review. I use it primarily for my wireless mouse and keyboard so that I can use my PC from the couch. Storage is nice. I'm totally happy with this purchase.
That little trick with the dust and super glue for the corners was so clever, I loved it. Thanks for the video!
I love your videos on a couple of levels. With the sound turned down they are just beautiful to watch. With the volume up the commentary is great for pointing out some of the finer points of the build. And NO thdump thdump inane dance music to spoil it all. Thank you for sharing your work.

All your vids are a step above most maker build videos. Especially like the tips such as blue tape vs tyvek tape, and to remove tape after setting but before curing. Have spent sooooo much time fixing builds after that issue. Your tutorials are rich in that stuff and the details show in the final vid. Kudos.

Hey Cam, very nice videos. Have now seen almost every one you made. Very spectacular tables you make. Hope that you will continue to make videos for a long time. Just a small sugestion to this type of waterfall table, you could have made the "long" legpiece flush with the top as well as the "short" legpiece. Then you would have had 2 in 1 table. Tall w. small tabletop or Low with larger tabletop. Really enjoy to watch your videos. Greetings from Denmark.

Looks amazing Bro. Keep the vid's coming. Learning a lot from your vids and it gives me inspiration. I want to get back at woodwork, it's been over 25 years ago i made my last wooden funiture. So, i think when the schools are back open (because of Covid-19 closed in my country) so i have time without the kids. Then i will start slowly with something small and easy like a couch table. Second piece will be a epoxy river coffee table. Never worked with epoxy, so curious how it will look. I let my wife choose the design and color because see wants one for us. hahaha. Probably she wants a round dining table, saw a beautyfull piece on your channel. First it will be hobby work, and then we will see.

Didn't hear a question during this video, so I'll just start off by saying thank you for sharing your craft and that you do really impressive work! I wanted to ask about your use of the track saw to cut your 45-degree bevels on the larger pieces. I have yet to get a truly great 45 bevel cut out of my track saw, and wanted to know was your 45-degree bevel stop on the Festool perfect out of the box, or did you have to adjust it so that when you move the bevel adjustment all the way over it hits a perfect 45? Or, do you just move it over and then tinker with the blade until you can get a perfect 45 (or slightly greater than 45*) and then lock it down? I can get close by using this second method, but never really perfect. It's hard to get the 45-degree side of my square into the short angled area created by the blade and base of the track saw, so it can take forever to get the correct bevel angle and it's definitely not repeatable after I reset the saw blade to square and try to get the same angle again. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

( Like when to use dark backdrop or light ).

Cam, I'm thinking I might want to do this similar build in Eastern Cedar since it's such a small piece. I think cedar may give it a bit more appeal for my location. What type finish would you suggest? I know you use hardwoods almost exclusively but thought I'd ask. Thank you. First time I've ever seen you in shoes.

I'm looking to glue up up a waterfall table this weekend! Can you recommend the epoxy glue you used? Mine is going to be tricky as it's 4 miters so looking for some forgiveness in dry time.
I've had the same problem with odies oil drying out within a couple of months. What do you use now instead?

Just thinking about different finishing oils - have you ever tried Sam Maloof? Ever since I discovered his products, I've used nothing else. I made my black walnut bedroom set over 20 years old now, and still looks great (this reminds me though, it's about time to refresh it with a coat of oil/wax ;-). Great content as always! Cheers.
Your waterfall table looks great. and I love the Festool Domino, it works wonderful doesn't it? we have one at work, I don't have the luxury of having one LOL
Yeah, it’s kinda cheating. I feel like I shouldn’t include it in “diy” videos. But then I realize I’m not gonna do dowels when I have a domino sitting there... so I use it anyway.

Can you explain more on using the dowel technique. What tool(s) would you need for the angle drill?
This might be too late, but here is my experience. There are few doweling jigs that support 45 degree miter cuts. If you want thru/exposed dowels Rockler has affordable one. Pretty cheaply made and doesn't help with alignment, you need accurate miter cut and clamping solution. I used it for small miter and it is just OK. There is Doweling Wizard but I have no first hand experience. When I had to make six foot miter I found Dowelmax jig. It is not cheap but still way cheaper than domino. It worked flawlessly even with my not very accurate circular saw cut. I put eight dowels with perfect accuracy. It showed me where to sand to fix my inaccurate cut. Final miter is as good as it gets despite using very simple hand power tools only. Highly recommend.
What are your thoughts on the Grizzly Planer. I couldn't quite see the number but I think that is the 20" Helical? Do you like it? Thanks

When you have a woodworking workshop bigger than my house, I do not think you qualify as DIY.
But still great quality videos.
Would it be possible to do this type of build with a resin river? I'm imagining pouring the river between two slabs, then cutting and chamfering it to fit and maintain the waterfall effect. Great video as always

You are truly an artist. Walnut is such a beautiful wood, but it is hard to get good walnut down here in Texas. Pecan, red oak, live, black oak, and mesquite are common woods here. Have you ever worked with pecan?

How thick is the cut at 45 degrees? I've hit a limitation with an oak waterfall table i'm building, very thick at 3.25" when at 45 degrees. Used a circular saw and a guide, but wasn't accurate enough for a perfect joint. Any suggestion for a track saw capable of making thick, accurate cuts?

Not sure if you explain that in the video, but why did you use epoxy for the joints instead of the classical Titebond III or similar glue?
He said that he couldn't get tight clamping pressure on those mitre joints.
Did you regret not starting the finishing (at 10:46) on the inside surface of the table?

What was the waterfall leg:single leg size ratio on this piece? Did you notice any wobbling?
It’s pretty stable. Less so on carpet. Not sure on the ratio
Which 5 minute and 20 minute epoxy brand do you recommend? Many times, touching up epoxy areas can be frustrating when using a 72 hour cure time epoxy.

Need some advice... I'm building a river piece and now the client wants to make it a waterfall piece... it's a 60" long project and he wants the waterfall to go lengthwise 😩 I plan to use a portable table saw to make the cuts but am curious to know what blade you would recommend. Your channel has helped me out so much so thank you and would be grateful for your thoughts on this particular issue

James Nelson just on a backdrop reel on my ceiling. Stays rolled so not much dust gets on it.
