As a boilermaker, which is a very slow trade. I appreciate the time you take with your work. Metal work is extremely slow and so I appreciate this sort of master craftsmanship. I have watched about 15 of your videos in the last few days because covid and I also enjoy your commentary.

Hi Cam, I just recently subscribed. I'm quite impressed with your woodwork, videos and channel. I started my woodwork journey more than 30 years ago as an apprentice high end joiner (timber windows and doors). In my first 10 years I made several pieces of furniture in my spare time which I'm happy to say are mostly still alive at various family member houses. Then with family growing, leaving joinery (and fully equiped workshop) to carpentry, no more hobby woodworking. Now, over the past few years been studying university and with all the extra time and not using tools everyday my passion for woodworking is reviving, I also have an interest in filming and editing came about with countless hours holding the camera on my skateboarding kids. I like the talking in videos. over the years I have watched many no talking metal/woodwork and craft videos and its a soothing affect yet I never watch anymore videos from the channel, yet I came back to yours and have watched many since.
Maybe the prettiest piece of wood I've ever seen. Had to watch till the end for the close in shots. The bowties came out flawless with that technique. Gorgeous.

Very nice! I’ve picked up so many tips from you, over time, including sharp short chisels for inlays (bow ties) the use of glue vs epoxy for no dark lines. Thanks for everything you pass on and share
Virginia! I was keeping a close eye on all the tools you're using. I have a 30 x 30 shop in the works (new build) and hope to be doing this type of woodworking when I retire from the construction industry!
Regarding what chisels to buy, I once took a course at Rosewood Studio outside of Ottawa, Canada and a discussion arose about what type of steel to choose when given the choice for a chisel or plane. We were told harder steels keep an edge much longer than softer steels, of course, but you can get a slightly sharper edge with softer steels and they're easier to sharpen. A comment from someone very experienced was passed onto us; the person said he'd always choose the softer steel because he didn't want to be tempted to use a less than very sharp chisel just because it took too long to sharpen it. I think it was good advice, in part because the more you sharpen blades, the easier and faster it gets so you're much more likely to keep your tools razor sharp.
Netherlands, Utrecht. You often talk about color stains on the wood if you wouldn't do a clear coat first. Do you have a project video that shows it happening?
Texas USA, hey Cam, with the design of the leg attachments is the C-channel necessary when the table is assembled or are they a precaution for warp age if the table is left disassembled for periods of time? I left the live edges but really don't like one of the sides. In general do you think it would look bad if three of the sides were straight cut and one side is live edge?

Montana: Absolutely love this table. I’d love to have one like it in my retirement home. I do have a question, however. Which edge do you prefer: live edge or straight? Or is your feeling about the edge dependent on the slab itself? I’m not a woodworker and possess none of your obvious skills, but it would seem that some slabs lend themselves to a live edge finish and others to a straight edge. I found myself gravitating to the straight edge finished pieces because I like the clean look, but a few of the live edge pieces in your numerous videos have tremendous appeal as well. I guess I am interested in what you tend to favor between the two, if you do favor one over the other. PS: I thoroughly enjoy all your videos…and commentary for us lay people. Great stuff!
Okay, I've watched a few dozen of these videos and they're very impressive. However, I absolutely hate, hate, hate looking at those bow ties! Can't you put them on the bottom? It breaks up the beautiful grain lines and makes the table look like it's been repaired. Perhaps it's my OCD, but if I were going to get a beautiful table like that, I would not want to look at those ugly bow ties. JMO

Hey Cam, don’t need a response this time. But just to follow your rules, I’m in SW Michigan, and kinda new to woodworking. I’ve been shaping skateboards for many years now, and just recently started moding and customizing pieces around the house. To that end, I just wanna thank you for all the tiny bits of info you include on this channel and in your videos. I can almost always skim thru a video and, from memory, find where you taught us just how to do the thing no one else even mentions. Props!
Cam, on this video at the 12:25 mark, you are showing and then filling the small pockets/holes in the epoxy pour. Visible in the shot are open grain “pockets” of the walnut. Does the would sufficiently fill during the finish stain and or final surface coating? If the wood holes fill then, why would the epoxy holes also not fill so that the whole surface is smooth? You are an awesome motivation to get back to some projects that I have wanted to do. Thank you for sharing your skills, experience with different products, and being honest about your cough-cough, errors/mistakes! MAPPA was an amazing build and I wished that it had gone for higher than it did! I look forward to each of your video postings… Have a Blessed Easter!
