Thanl you very much Dr. David i tried a chiropractor, a physio therapist and the sciatica was getting worst. Now i know the exercises were not a plus for me. I am just doing the 5 stretches you gave and is feeling a lot better. Less pain in the night and getting out of bed. You are a blessing to me. God bless you as you strive to help others.

You are very helpful! These are exactly the exercises that made worse my sciatica problem. I had a repertoire of 10 exercises from my therapist and when I finish them it was getting worse! I decided each day to move one that i felt it was doing bad to me. There were at least 4 of them. Exactly those that you propose to avoid. It wasn't easy to decide because i should have all my senses alert . Furthermore it was proposed to me from my therapists and thought of them as experts! Unfortunately they are not so close to my sciatica problem as i thought initially. Thanks for all this help. Blessed you.

Hi sunny774@msn.com, we are so sorry that you are suffering from sciatica and that you had been misguided into making your symptoms worse 😔 We hear this more often than not. We are glad that we have been able to provide you with some useful information! Below will be a link to our entire sciatica playlist:
      "Sciatica Pain Exercises and Stretches"
      ruclips.net/p/PLJVIPiFvv1maZPQPPtirn4oxj8oCPuIMR
Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not.
Inversion Tables can also be very beneficial to sciatica symptoms. We have a video discussing how it can be used for back pain. We highly recommend researching Inversion Tables to see if it might be a good option for you.
“Is an Inversion Table Helpful for Back Pain?”
      ruclips.net/video/j61ImGQdFTM/видео.html
Thank you for your kind words! We hope this information is helpful! Please keep us posted on your progress 🙌🏽

I love your channel and I'm a subscriber. I do Feldenkrais and your channel. I did not know why people who recovered from sciatica were putting out videos saying these very exercises like figure 4 and pigeon pose helped them get better. Maybe their problem was about muscles and not nerve. Feldenkrais has been helpful to be aware of habitual patterns of movement. But I love Dr David's very thorough and knowledgeable videos.

Thank you so much for your great sciatica videos. I think you are the only one i have heard talking about the sciatic notch and the si getting locked up. I have MS and bad muscle imbalances as a result. I have had 2 chiropractors tell me that the right side (painful side) of my Si joint is locked up and because of my ms my left side is very weak. To complicate things more my MS cause spasm on my left side that pull on my pelvis and cause extreme pain! I am currently on narcotics and trying to transition to gabapentin for pain, i am on baclofen to try and manage my spasm but that drug causes weakness and unfortunately most movements cause my spasms to flare up. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have been struggling with this worsening over the last 2 years and it is now at an extreme level. Thank you again for such great content. 🙏🙏🙏

@@epmanualphysicaltherapy oh my gosh! Thanks for the quick response! Yesterday, I literally just had to take a medical leave of absence bc of my issue. I can’t tell if it’s sciatica, stenosis or both? CAN it be both?? It has gotten to the point that even getting up from a prone position hurts my ENTIRE leg. My hip, thigh, hamstring, knee joint and calf all the way to my foot. I also can’t lay flat on my back I have to kind of it a little more weight on the left bc if I Kay flat and the pressure is on my right my leg will spasm.
Also, are there any nerve pain meds that can be bought over the counter m? Or are they all prescription?? Nothing I’ve been given has done much to reduce the pain.

Been through one round PT that didn’t do anything for pain. And one cortisone shot in hip that only helped hip for a month. Am on gabapentin, only thing that helps get me through the worst nights. I’m a massage therapist and a yoga teacher and I understand what you are saying however I find that a blanket diagnosis of sciatica isn’t always really sciatica at all and several of the options you are blanket labeling as BAD do indeed help low-back pain. This video will scare people into not trying to help themselves feel better, l really like your advice and videos so I’ll also encourage you to share what you recommend people DO in a positive way to help empower them to self care within your scope of practice, a yoga therapist can give yoga to treat pathological issues and massage therapist also can and do take specialized training to treat pathological issues within their scope of practice just like you. Don’t teach people that spa therapist don’t know what they are doing. I have successfully helped thousands of people many of which called their low back pain sciatica and I work in a PT clinic and a spa. ✌🏻

My left leg sciatica goes away when sitting, is mild when in bed, but manifests itself when standing or walking for more than a minute. The pain is weird as it is a numb but painful feeling. My big toe stays numb all the time, but the rest is only when standing. I have a friend who is just the opposite, he has to stand up to relieve his pain. I read comments to look for solutions when I'm in pain, so here's to that person: I'm a massage therapist and the only thing I've found that has worked 100% of the time is a blanket of cups on the entire low back and glutes for 20 minutes. Decompresses the tissue. Takes 1-2 sessions. My chiropractor sends his sciatic patients to me when the adjustments aren't helping. Previous to figuring out the cupping treatment, I had sciatica. I could only sleep on my couch for 90 minutes at a time, but only if I was lying prone (on my belly) with my spine in extension (upper body propped up on cushions) and one leg bent out to the side. Standing was the only other relieving position. Starting week 5 of sciatica, I took homeopathics for tissue and nerve trauma and that is what finally calmed down my irritated sciatic nerve. It slowly subsided and was mostly gone 10 days later.
