I had a herniated disk 7 yrs ago. Took meds, had several steroid shots, acupuncture for years. Then on my own, I discovered walking. I walk every day everywhere and a lot! It’s my only exercise. I don’t do any other exercises. Never drive anymore anywhere. Sciatica pain, back pain totally gone! I feel wonderful! Hallelujah!

Dr. David, I am amazed.... I suffered with sciatica for years, then the pain went to my groin and hip. I have been to numerous PTs and was never told about strengthening glutes!!! All I got was stretching exercises. After watching your videos for one week, I am feeling relief. Thank you for sharing this info, as I have completely lost confidence in medical physicians. I worked at a desk for 50 years and always tried to walk and do yoga, but I had no idea how weak my glutes have gotten.

I suffered one of the worst bouts of sciatica for the past 5 months. My doctor just threw a range of medications at the problem and advised lots of rest. Nothing worked. In desperation, I turned to RUclips for stretches etc. No relief until I came across your video for the top 5 exercises. Almost instant relief! I shared with a number of family and friends with the same conclusion. Your advice is sound and your suggestions WORK!!!! I can only say a HUGE THANK YOU❤

Came across your videos and just started with a simple glute activation by squeezing and relaxing my glutes for 10 reps multiple times each day and I feel almost no pain. Wow. I've been suffering with low back pain, groin pain, and for the last 4 mos sciatica. I've tried every stretch, cream and lotion known to medicine. Nothing helped. In fact...the touted figure 4 made things worse. I tried various RUclips pt channels and most ended up making it hurt more. But your 3 stretch plus leg off the bed stretch is a miracle. Today. I went to my son's house. We patterned around his yard. When mh back hurt and sciatica came...I dropped and did the routine. On his deck, and leg off the Bannister. On his dock. With the leg off the dock. On his lawn with the leg off his work bench. No, none of these locations were ideal. But I made them work!!!! Thank you@

OMG those exercises really works for me. I’ve done two this morning and hardly had any pain today. Tonight I’ve done the three of them and my foot feels so good! What a difference in my pain, yes I believe that stretching your sciatica nerve is not good for you. I’ve been doing it for many weeks and it doesn’t help me. Thanks for helping me to have faith in getting better by doing these these simple exercises.❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much, I've been in agony for over a year and was basically told by other PTs to do everything that you advise not to do. I've been doing the butt and lower abb exercises for 2 days, and I feel better already. I'm so glad I found your videos. I'm from Scotland, so there no chance of me visiting, but you've absolutely changed my life. Thank you so so much for making the videos and showing on the skeleton where the pain comes from. It makes more sense whilst visualusing if you can see it in your minds eye. 😊

I rarely comment on social media. But finding and watching your sciatica videos is the best thing that happened to me for a long time. I have been suffering for 3 years going through all the steps .. MRI, many PTs, injection, physio again.. nothing has helped as much as 1. stopping streching and 2. squeezing my glutes as often as possible following your exercises. I have been doing this for 6 weeks and see significant improvement. I still need to be more regular and also find a better solution for sleeping but definitely see the end of the tunnel. Squeezing and holding glutes feeks like I am taking off the pressure that was hurting the nerve.. I have been doing lots of other glutes exercises but only the sqeezing made the difference. A huge huge thanks

Tried psychal therapy and pilates and none of them were really effective only giving partial relief. I am 60 and have had sciatica for several years possibly from my spondylolisthesis. I agree with the other commentors 100%. PT many sessions , other youtube sites relating to sciatica but nothing about what you are suggesting and strengthening the butt muscles. After one day my pain down my leg is almost zero! I am at the beginner stage and only 7 days in but I never had one day before starting this that I didn't experience pain down my legs. I am only doing about 40 reps daily every other day but will continue stepping it up and advancing to the 3rd exercise. I get that a not so strong butt muscle won't hold the nerve in the position that it belongs in and that will cause pinching. Genius! Thank you so much. God sent my husband to this spot to answer prayer for my pain which I was seriously considering a surgery to rectify. Your wisdom helped me to avoid surgery!

Hi Ellen, We are so glad we could be of help! Just in case you are interested we have a playlist for sciatica you might find helpful. You can access it here:
      "Sciatica Pain Exercises & Stretches"
      ruclips.net/p/PLJVIPiFvv1maZPQPPtirn4oxj8oCPuIMR
Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not.
We hope you found this information helpful to you. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!

I watched your video to activate glutes and lower stomach. I think you nailed it as I have had severe sciatica. I had a bone spur removed L4 and L5 to open up the area in the spinal canal. I still have the same pain a week later. Glutes and sciatica rt side and some left and where the leg meets the butt. I have an old spondy l4 35 yrs ago due to a hit on my back but no back pain. Only lower. Ill work on those glutes and lower stomach activating and started now. Every hour and will let you know if this nasty pain when I put weight, or stand up hurts so much. Advil doesnt help. Got worse doing yoga. Im in Phx and wish I could come to your clinic! I sat for 23 yrs customer service job 8 to 10 hours a day. Retired now with the pain.

2011 I had Anterior anthroplasty greatest surgery and speedy recovery. In 2017 I had a laminectomy cleaning nerve pathways. No hardware or fusion per my decision. Elevated My
bilaterial sciatica and low back pain. I had bilateral stenosis in L4 and L5. My root nerve was so built up with I'll call it gunk forget the actual tissue but it caused my spinal fluid to leak and form cysts. The surgery was long term beneficial. Last September 2022 I had a lefthip austoplasty and it was a posterior approach and has been a problem from day 1. It landed me in rehab 18 days trying to walk again. After surgery I couldn't lift my foot to take a step. I needed more PT work but my insurance insurance rejected outpatient care. Now 8 months out I am still using a walker to try to keep from waddling like a duck. I have developed numbness and all kinds of nerve sensation in mostly my left leg but somewhat in my right foot mostly. It always feels half asleep. I didn't like my surgeon. And haven't been back since January. Recently I have pain in my buttocks and upper thigh. After watching your sciatica video I am pretty sure impingement is back. My pain is worse when I sit long periods of time or walk or stand. I have been sedentary for years. After my surgery I gained weight suddenly and to be honest feel like a complete mess. I can't take gabapaten. And my ibuprofen isn't working. As you said it won't help nerve pain. I don't know if I will ever get any better. My prosthesis feels fake. It is noticeably there. My other surgery the one done Anterior feels like me. I don't know where to even begin. Here in CA it takes months to see a specialist. I'm 70 and have Medicare Advantage. Really limits my options.

I’ve been suffering for 6 months with sciatica. I know I have lateral stenosis from a C scan. I’ve just had a. MRI but haven’t got results yet.
I’ve been following you our exercises for about 2 months, and also getting fascia treatments for my super tight hamstrings. Both have helped so much with the pain.
My butt and legs have really improved, I don’t get the shooting pains down my legs, but my right leg on the outer side of my shin bone above my ankle hurts constantly. It feels bruised. Even when my right calf touches a chair while sitting, it sets that bruised pain feeling off.
Can the sciatic nerve be inflamed at the bottom of a leg and not so much at the top?

David if I could I would give you the biggest hug and a kiss I would. I’ve been in non stop sciatic pain from disc herneation L4L5. Tried many different moves and every time I do I irritate the nerve more knocking me down for 2 more bed rest days (specifically extension and bird dog). Yesterday I watched this video and tried butt blaster. I was scared to be honest and not sure what to expect. I rolled back and forth 10 times. Got up to see what impact it will have and I had a strange sensation like someone grabbed my spine and extended it. Felt the decompression in the thoracic area but when I walked around a bit I noticed my nerve was less irritated so now I became obsessed with this. An hour later I tried again. And an hour after that again. By the 4 th hour my leg pain was gone like a miracle. I still didn’t wanna get excited but I woke up today and for the first time no leg pain. I’ll see how the day goes but I can’t thank you enough for this relief that brought me instant hope. God bless you

I have had sciatica for 3 months now due to a lousy seat on a bus I was driving. I've always been really active until this job and now I feel like everything is dying. I've still got pretty good butt strength due to many years of riding horses but sadly that is no longer available to me.
So far I have been given a ton of conflicting advice including stretching out the muscles etc. Which I find can be quite painful and leads to a sciatic spasm. I have a question. When doing the squats, does one keep the butt tight on the down and upward motion? Or just on the upward motion? Also does one keep the lower abdomen taught throughout the lower and upper motions. I plan on trying all these exercises because this condition is the worst thing ever.

Thank you for your detailed instruction. I've recently been to PT. He had me doing many of the exercises, but he didn't give specific direction and details like you do. NOW I feel something happening. I've had a hip replacement and 3 back surgeries. Once you go under the knife, there's no turning back. I wish I had known these things 30 years ago wen it all started. I have to say, when I had my hip replaced, they had me do PT before and after the surgery. The back doctors NEVER did. After watching you, I know his is a mistake. Someone needs to get the back doctors on board with PT - the right way. I would not be in the position I am in, now, if I had been doing these exercises.
