Very good review! I just ordered mine, same one but with 32GB and the OLED screen and I picked up a replacement M2 SSD that is much faster. Nice to see a review where the person actually enjoyed it as opposed to picking it apart.
Great laptop but the hardware is way more powerful than the cooling system and the power supply can handle. Limiting the performance of both the gpu and the cpu. This thing though already fast has EDP throttling at idle and also thermal throttling on the cpu with a very mild load. The performance is a decent upgrade to a 10 year old laptop but nothing to crazy and the OLED screen is amazing on these laptops. But don't purchase it expecting the full hardware specs to be met, ASUS hasn't even allowed Undervolting in the BIOS yet so don't expect to hack your way toward the full performance of these as I did. I also owned a q540 another vivobook with the same exact flaws. The major selling point is the comfort of the design and the impressive screen but don't believe all the latest and greatest hardware inside will be even halfway utilized like it might be in a gaming laptop
playing around with Intel xtu the laptop only stops throttling at idle cutting the boost down to 87w or lower. Around 157w is where the cpu is supposed to be at factory. If you have overclocking unlocked you can get a better benchmark than default by cutting your active cpus 3-8 down to 4.8ghz vs the default clock speed of 5.2ghz causing the processor to run at a more stable rate. Throttling rarely even when pushed. I would hardly call that up to rated performance. With these limitations you wouldn't find much of a difference with the current I7 or even I5 processors in the same laptop. I have no problem with using the laptop in fact I love it. that said I wish manufacturers put more effort into there designs to allow the hardware to perform up to its rated specs. Its like the well used metaphor of putting a Ferrari engine in a volvo. Sure the Volvo is excellent car with all the latest features but there is no way it will fully utilize the engine under the hood. @@BinoshaTech
Really awesome review! Question; is the cooling on this better than the Legion Pro 5i with the same 4070? I'm deciding between this and the Legion but i want one with better cooling. Its hard to find comparisons like these.
i don't like the placement of the thunderbolt 4 ports, Legion pro 5 has one on the left and one on the back, vivobook has both on the right side, very awkward if you have stuff plugged in and trying to use the mouse at the same time
Amigo espero que estes bien me podrias desir donde puedo enccontrar todas las espec ificaciones de esta laptop tengo una y cuando me meto a la pagina de asus me sale la de 120HZ no el de 165 HZ
