I once did 160 kmh here in Ontario about 10 years ago. If I did that today my car would be impounded for two weeks plus I would receive a $10,000 fine. Therefor I won't be doing that again. Nice review mate.

Great review. This is a one of a kind driver’s car. There isn’t another car produced today like this set up, as far as I can tell. Mid-mount engine, naturally aspirated 4-liter boxer engine that can be mated with 6-spd manual gear box, 2-seater, open top, that you can get a carbon fiber bucket seats and carbon ceramic brakes. On top of that, this thing is gorgeous, more so in person than photos and videos. It drives sublimely, perfectly balanced between chassis and power, sonorous high-rev engine note, perfect driving position and ideally set up pedals & gear box. I’ve got mine in 2020 and haven’t regretted one single mile of its 8000 ODO miles. It is by far the best driving Porsche I’ve ever driven out in the canyons on a sunny Sunday morning. If you find one, get it. You will not regret it. I recommend the bucket seats. It really connects you to the car so much better when slinging the car around the bends. Unless you are an ex-large person, I can tell you that I often do 400+ miles in one day without any discomfort. I am 6-ft tall, 200lbs and I fit perfectly in the seat. I also spec’d carbon ceramic brakes on the car and they are amazing.

In the EU we can use the remote it rolls the windows dons a bit, opens the roof and the rear deck, so you dont have to go into the car.

If you pause the video at 6:28 you can see on the left bolster the scratches from where you push yourself out of the seat with your left hand. I avoid doing that by placing both my feet out of the door, then standing up. But then again, I'm a bit pedantic about these things. ;) Great video. I'm trying to decide between the Spyder and Targa. Two very different cars.

The scratches on the bolster are caused by rivets on jeans, not by people using their hand to assist in exiting the car.

@Hugh MacIsaac Agreed. Still, having the ability shift your own gears is better than not. Could be Porsche did not want this to take away from the 911? I do have to say, I have a 2019 Honda Civic Type R and the shifter in that car is a master class of how to make a 6-speed manual regardless of price. The ratios are perfect and the feel is spot on.

$110k for a fun precise roadster is great if your wealthy but if you’re not test drive a new MIATA manual. Fully loaded it’s about $30-35! It’s no Porsche but it’s just as much fun. Maybe even more fun since you’ll be happy and have lots more money in the bank.

@@mpower1226 - That’s $130,000 US and I’m opinion that’s just way too much money for a small two seat sports car with a six cylinder engine. Yes it’s a fun to drive weekend toy but so is a new fully loaded Miata for 1/4 the price! I’ll spend my money on the Miata and laugh all the way to the bank. It’s only a toy not a daily driver. If I wanted a good daily I could pick up a Toyota or Honda easily or even a Volvo or great BMW for much less! However for a wealthy buyer who has lots of money to.burn its his.

I own a 981s, with a six-speed manual, Porsche Torque Vectoring, PASM, etc. All the performance goodies, and more.
My full-electric roof goes down, or up, in 12 seconds. When the rain starts coming down hard, the time it takes to put up that manual roof would make me quickly hate the car with a passion.
The Spyder has only two advantages over the 981s. First, the more powerful engine, and second, the Spyder editions tend to appreciate.
However, neither those would be sufficient to overcome that monumentally stupid roof.
