    The Boxster Spyder is back for the 718 generation, and has thankfully stayed naturally aspirated! With a brand new 4.0L Flat 6 (not the same one as the GT3) and a 6 speed manual transmission, the 718 Spyder is all about pure driving enjoyment. Over 400hp, no turbos, redline of 8000RPM and some parts borrowed from upper tier cars like the GT3 RS, the Spyder is a mid-engined masterpiece. Now mechanically identical to the Cayman GT4, taking the roof off changes the experience for the better. While the GT4 is always trying to be the fastest track car, but never able to match it's big brother 911 GT3, the Spyder has no such aspirations by the simple fact of it having no roof, which just makes it so much more fun to drive. Alec and I talked about what its like to own the new 718 Spyder, how it compares to the previous generation and to a 991.2 GT3! Make sure you check out the full review I did too!

      @@EddieX I dont think it matters that much past 600 miles, and then 1000 miles. The run in in the Porsche manuals are all the same between all the models and all the newer ones have Auto start stop and what happens once the car warms up if it is not in a "Sport" Mode? It turns the motor off and they tell you not to drive less than 5 miles prior to 2k miles. I dont think you want to ring it out or track it prior to 2k but I think up to 4k before 600 miles then maybe not past 6k to 1k miles and then run the range after 1k without running it at red line until after 2k....just my opinion.

    The gearing issue is not an issue in the turbo'd S and GTS, I think that is why that motor is better than the NA motors. The turbo'd 4 pulls in 6th gear at just about anything over 40 mph. Also, I think the 911's prior to the 992 were more difficult to take to the limit compared to the Cayman/Boxster, not with the 992, that car sticks to the road like nothing I have ever experienced. Either way, all Porsches are great!

    Title is kinda deceiving. Not sure how anyone can speak about ownership experience at 100 miles.

      Ownership experience, not driving experience. You have $116,000 less in your bank account is all the ownership experience you need to know. Anything else comes with the territory of owning any car.

    A base Boxster is only $60,000 before options. For the limited use he describes it seems that car would be enough for open air fun plus it has power top. Extra power and better handling with Spydsr but $116k! Crazy expensive.

    • @tommy516
      @tommy516 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, the interior in a Cayman is quite a bit above a Mazda interior, the Mercedes is a different beast with all the chrome.

    • @sultanqasim
      @sultanqasim 4 года назад +2

      I own an AMG GT S, used to own a Boxster, and have driven a bunch of Porsches. Porsche leather interiors are in a completely different league than any Mazda in terms of actual quality and feel when you sit in one. The AMG GT interior is certainly fancier looking than Porsche 981/982/991 with the metal and carbon centre console, chromed vents, quilted seats etc. The AMG GT centre console buttons are also nicer than what Porsche has on the 981/982/991, though they are still high quality plastic buttons on the Porsche. The 982 centre console buttons feel a lot more solid than those on a Macan. In terms of actual quality of construction and comfort when you sit in one, I’d argue Porsche interiors are better than the AMG GT, even though the AMG interior is prettier.
