An absolute classic riff , classic song on perhaps one of the most underrated debut albums ever , I think it was a victim of competition at the time it was released. Up there with Ten , Appetite for destruction and Throwing copper as perfect debut albums , pure classic.
This is such a beautiful song, my grandpa was learning it before he died back in 2014 it reminds me of him every time i hear it and i wanted to learn all of it for him. thanks carl.
My dad just played this song yesterday and that was the first time I heard it. Was disappointed when you didn’t have a lesson for it. I forgive you now Carl
I did it!!! I’m a brand new beginner with no guitar knowledge at all. I took the fender online app classes. I only did a couple chapters. I watch you a lot and Candle box Far Behind is my favorite song and the first song I wanted to learn on the guitar. Then I realized how hard it is. I been at it for a month now going over your video here 100 times and I finally can play it…not well with perfect speed but now I can play it over and over to get it down perfect. Thank you!!! Love your videos! I’m also learning Dream theater you show! That will be my second song. Just the riffs right now lol
I used to play this song back in 2010 and then for a few years until I stopped playing. I picked up my Gibson again and there's so much I don't remember. This makes it easy to get it back, so thanks!!
I like how you fret the G on the A string 10th fret for the opening lick. So many people I see play this use the open G string, same note but it doesn't sound the same. It's fretted like you show, although much trickier to play it that way smoothly, great attention to detail!
Your videos are greatly appreciated Carl. Up until recently I havent played in over 10 years. Your vids have brought me back from all of the things I had forgotten 🤘
God love ya Sensei. Everytime I go to look up a song I check the academy first to see if you have a video for it. 90% of the time you do. Can't thank you enough for all the help the last couple years. I'm finally getting to where I wanna be on guitar and it's thanks to your lessons and help! If you're not a member of Carl's Academy I would strongly suggest trying it out. I think he still does the first 7 days free and it's only $20/month after that. No I'm NOT paid or sponsored by Carl in anyway to promote the Academy. I just know how well it works because I've been taking lessons from Carl for the last 2 years and have improved IMMENSELY. So... What have ya got to lose?
Thanks for the lesson! Awesome song and solo. Literally my favorite instructor on you tube. Man in the Box solo still one of my favorite lessons. Keep up the great work!
I remember seeing them live in summer '94 or 95???. It was weird cause they opened for metalllica which also had suicidal tendacies, Rob Halford, and Alice in chains as a summer tour together. They didn't really fit in with the other bands but they did put on a good show.
Me coming into this video..."this sounds way harder to learn than "Here Without You." Me after watching one time through...got it first try, haha, easy. Thanks again sir!
I love the videos! You are the best! But I wanted to point out that in the very beginning, instead of playing the A string on the 10th fret which is a G, you can just play the open G string then the 10th on the B string.
What a great song and a great, unsung band. It's too bad their later albums didn't get as much play. I know they're not hits, or songs most people would know. I don't think they were even released as singles either. But "Look What You've Done" and "A Stone's Throw Away" from their 10,000 Horses album are exceptional, with stellar guitar work. Peter Klett is so good.
Hey teacher ik its not the correct video for this commend and ik you dont play many heavy riff songs , but could you make a video for downstroke techniques and how to master them for riffs like Metallica i did see someone in my school holding his pick different with palm muting and he was making completely different sound when he was playing E2 0x, or if you have a video already to send me , i really appreciate the work you do all the songs and exercises i learned from you really helped me improve my skills!!!
Carl you are dominating then riffs man. I gotta song request for ya. Can you please do (Never Use Love) - By Ratt I would really appreciate it, I have been going to RUclips after hearing a awesome song and finding you each time just blazing through these tutorials with great detail, thank you Car for the help and will be continuing the journey.
great song, I have this friend who has this obsession with candle box. Can we get some more smashing pumpkins songs? I'd love to see Soma or other Siamese Dream content.
Carl , I was wondering when you have a chance do you think you could do The Cars (Moving in Stereo) I was watching The classic Movie Fast Times At Ridgemont high and I thought omg I know carl would know this one for sure. Happy Thanksgiving as well Carl.🦃🦃🦃🦃🎸🎸🎸🎸.
Great lesson and song. Let's do songs lessons that'll never see the light of day for $500: Cinderella- Winds of Change, Electric Love, Heartbreak Station Hendrix- Country Blues Metallica- Outlaw Torn, Ronnie, Poor Twisted Me Ryan Adams- English Girls Approximately Cat Stevens- The Wind Thank you and good night!
Hey Buster, you can try out my all of my courses for free for the first seven days. If you don’t like what you see, just cancel before the seven days are up.. 😁🤘
Shit..I broke that out ( that’s what we called it when we would figure it out before the Tab would come out) in the 90’s correctly. Now, I can’t even play it cuz I hardly have time to play the guitar.
For the clean parts I just used a little chorus and reverb I believe.. heavy parts just basic high gain setting and the solo kick in a little delay.. there is also a wah used about half through the solo on the original recording but I didn’t use one for this video
An absolute classic riff , classic song on perhaps one of the most underrated debut albums ever , I think it was a victim of competition at the time it was released. Up there with Ten , Appetite for destruction and Throwing copper as perfect debut albums , pure classic.

Thank you so much for all of these lessons Carl! It really sucks to think these lessons are not monetized, so thank you for doing them.
My dad just played this song yesterday and that was the first time I heard it. Was disappointed when you didn’t have a lesson for it. I forgive you now Carl
Just heard in now myself. Its brilliant! Love his voice.
Damn only now just hearing candlebox!? Geez yall been missing out, they're an older band. 20 years at least.
@@triple6wolfi probably the most underrated grunge band out there and their self titled album is gold
Now, stay with Candlebox because you need to do Cover Me
My dad showed me this song to he was telling me he seen them live in the 90s

My band used to cover this way back in the day. Always went over really well. I sure miss the old days...
Excellent song I’m a old man just learning to play but this has always been a favorite song of mine from candle box
I've been playing this one wrong for years, thank you for the accurate song lessons Carl!
I used to play this song back in 2010 and then for a few years until I stopped playing. I picked up my Gibson again and there's so much I don't remember. This makes it easy to get it back, so thanks!!
What a beautiful song, love the tone and the solo too. Haven’t played in months but this will get my guitar back in my hands , thanks Carl !! 🎉
I like how you fret the G on the A string 10th fret for the opening lick. So many people I see play this use the open G string, same note but it doesn't sound the same. It's fretted like you show, although much trickier to play it that way smoothly, great attention to detail!
I had to re learn the opening lick for this very reason. It's sounds so much better but it was frustrating the tabs I got were wrong to begin with.
Your videos are greatly appreciated Carl. Up until recently I havent played in over 10 years. Your vids have brought me back from all of the things I had forgotten 🤘

bruhhh i’ve literally had a recent urge to play this song for like 4 days now this is crazy timing
That happened to me and I couldn't even remember the name of it, then it came to me. Now I'll be playing it again after probably 10 years!
I Love you man, EVERY song I want to learn- you have on youtube
Ohh yaaa some candlebox ....🤘🤘🤘🤘 thanks sensai ....just put some fresh strings on my strat too .. good times coming after work lol
Perfect timing Carl, I was just listening to this song the other day and it’s been stuck in my head all day!
Thanks for the lesson! Awesome song and solo. Literally my favorite instructor on you tube. Man in the Box solo still one of my favorite lessons. Keep up the great work!
Amazing job Carl!!! I love this solo. One of my all time favorites.
Have always loved this band and especially this song. Thank you Carl!
Literally was in class listening to this song! I can’t wait to get home and learn this epic song. Thanks again Carl 🤘
Truly a beautiful song
EXCELLENT!!! Bravo Carl and thank you sir!
the best guitar teacher on youtube
So happy i discovered this channel 🤟🏽
I remember when this song was released. Great tribute to the late Andy Wood.
I remember seeing them live in summer '94 or 95???. It was weird cause they opened for metalllica which also had suicidal tendacies, Rob Halford, and Alice in chains as a summer tour together. They didn't really fit in with the other bands but they did put on a good show.
Great song yeah. I also like that song "cover me"off that same album. Similar chord progression as well. Very well played Sir!
Carl Brown, you always have the best tutorials for the best songs! Finally in a band that wants to do this one. Thank you!
How's the band going
@@cormacmcphillips1061 Just started rehearsing, but looking forward this song and other 90's gems!
@@sbrave Hey dude. How did it go?
@@SantoshKumar-wl7yb didn't get to play it yet, but looking forward to it

I use to play this years ago.. I played it differently.. wow
Please do an updated lesson of “All along the watch tower” - Jimi Hendrix
I love the videos! You are the best! But I wanted to point out that in the very beginning, instead of playing the A string on the 10th fret which is a G, you can just play the open G string then the 10th on the B string.
Yes but then you wouldn’t be playing it like they do
@@GuitarLessons365SongLessons ok I gotcha thanks for the reply

Ironic. I've been listening to this CD the last couple if days. Great song!
Great song! Amazing solo!
carl, do you have the tabs for the solo on this lesson and others, you explain it good, but the tabs would really help me a lot.
I have never heard of that, great lesson as always!

It’s funny the way Carl is in the shot with the guitar behind him on the wall ,it looks like the horns of the guitar are part of his head😆
Hey Carl. Can you please give us what effects you use on your lessons?
That will be so helpful for my NOOB self

CSRL PLEASE MAN DO THE NEW PEPPER ALBUM
Chorus? Delay ? Reberb ? 3 same time?
I think so too, about the effects for this song hope Carls answer this question.
For the clean parts I just used a little chorus and reverb I believe.. heavy parts just basic high gain setting and the solo kick in a little delay.. there is also a wah used about half through the solo on the original recording but I didn’t use one for this video
