With us all paying around £96 for a yearly subscription, Amazon are just getting greedy. I am reconsidering my subscription for when the time comes.

There is a fine line between piracy and legal streaming… I've using Kodi with a VPN and a real-debrid account for years and have had no problems whatsoever…any movie ever made can be watched on Kodi... I've found this to be the best open-source media platform... Virtually free…!

I find alot of the films on Amazon are crap anyway and you can get most items delivered for free on eBay might not be next day delivery but it's still free and you don't have to pay a subscription there all getting greedy I've heard that basic netflix is going up to £10.99 a month in march or April 2024

For me it's the quick delivery, I can live without it, the TV was nice on occasion but not worth paying extra for me so will cancel Prime when my year is up.

They have. People with yearly subscriptions have launched one already as when they paid their subscriptions, this wasn’t mentioned and therefore, a breech of the contract the entered into.

Good walkthrough of the situation I was going to pay extra but I'd rather keep the extra 36 a year.
Watched wolf like me trailer at the beginning and a ad in it also, I was very disappointed. I think l gonna look elsewhere, they've already spoilt Amazon music which will play other music from others that I didn't ask to play and you can only skip a certain number of times it's destroyed the pleasure of listening to music unless you want to pay I think it's £9.99 for it to play exactly what you asked for. Now they are destroying the video by putting ads and trailers that you can't skip, I think we all moved to streaming to get away from so many ads. The ads are very annoying and it doesn't make me interested in the product that is being forced on me it does exactly the opposite

A lot of people pay for Amazon Prime for the year in advance not by the month. If you paid for the year I would think they would have to honor commercial free until your year was up because that’s what you purchased and prepaid for. They should only be able to change it immediately on the month to month subscriptions.

I have Prime, but I'm not paying an extra 2.99 - I've been seeing ads all my life with TV, so I'm used to it - Doesn't bother me a bit.
Here in the States, the amount of ad time was regulated prior to 1978. Five minutes per 30-minute block. This was during the 8pm to 11pm block (I don't want to call it prime time, due to, well, amazon's use of the word). Those 5 or 10 minutes were fine. It's not like we had any other choice for viewing things. Gilligan's Island and Star Trek, to name just 2 shows, worked out real nice. After 1978 's deregulation ad time slowly crept up and the powers-that-be that decided how much ad time to stuff in to a show started thinking like the folks here at NY Transit system: there's always room for 1 more on the train and hey it's only another 15 (or 30 seconds). So here we are and we have basically double the amount of ad-time and we also get on-screen channel logos and text. If Amazon sticks to say 2 minutes it might be bearable, but we are now at the top of a very slippery slope and I have a gut feeling that in a year's time, they are going to bump up the ad time (and probably that 2.99).
Hello from across the pond...Hope you are well. Speaking as a long time Firestick user lemme say, I completly hate commercials/Adverts... It's the sole reason I dropped cable...Hate-Hate-Hate them so no, I do not watch anything with comercials in it like Freevee-Tubi-ect,ect. And now, it looks like I won't be watching Prime video either.

Back when I had directv and I watched the discovery channel, they along with all the other channels had (and via cable probably still do) the despicable practice of slapping not only their logos on the screen but hashtags and text (for example: "New episode of Mythbusters coming up tomorrow!". So, since you are paying for it, I ask you: is it also free of logos and other on-screen crap when the content is shown? Logos on the guides are fine, even Netflix does that. Thanks.
@@bikeny Hi,l have been using discovery plus for about 5 years now mainly to watch gold rush,outback opal hunters and now the recent series of on the roam with Jason Mamoa,I've never seen any logos,adverts or advertising of there own content at all,I don't know if this is different in the US but in UK it is only £3.99 a month,compared to most paid streaming services this is very inexpensive,hope this has helped 👍
If you pay for a service you shouldn't get adverts. All streaming services seem to be doing this and its getting expensive. Now we have to choose what service we want for that month / year (depending how you pay). It's ridiculous and right at a time where most countries are in a recession. Shame on them!

I've already cancelled my subscription and took the survey as to why, explaining that the Amazon make 10's of billions every year from subscriptions, yet want to increase their revenue by hitting the subscription fees at a time when we are all feeling the pinch.

It's not just the prime video rip off, i have noticed that even when you pay 9.99 a month for Amazon prime delivery service, the items are more expensive than the exact same item if its non prime, it can be a lot cheaper if you wait a day or two more. So you are being charged for the next day delivery service which is fine, but they put a few quid on the item as well.
I have a grammar question: Is it an English thing or what, but to me (here in New York), I would have written your title as "What in the word IS Amazon doing?" - It's a single thing versus using 'are' which says it's plural. Is it the convention that when referring to companies, since there is more than 1 person in said company you use 'are'? It's a curiosity thing, that's all. I fully understood what you are talking about. I just figured I'd ask now, as you are not the first one to use the phrasing like that. Thanks.
They never said freevee would be as free. I only use prime for shipping. I only have a fire stick max just to see what it was. I don’t use it. Nvidia Shield all day long but I don’t see them making any new shields. Current one is 2019 so I’m looking at other android box options for the future.

I only have the prime subscription for the shipping. My husband and I buy a lot so, I like the next day or 2 day shipping.
I don't watch movies or listen to the music. Whatever movie I want to watch always says rent or subscription needed. With prime, I should be able to watch the d$nm movies for free. If there is a movie that I like, I just go to a store and just buy the movie. It's mine to watch whenever I want to with no rent or subscription. Its mine until I die or sell it. Done deal.
It's getting to the point where Amazon is no good value anymore. Products are not cheaper. The services are no bargain. Considering canceling.

Amazon are getting very greedy. The Ring subscription is going up by 43% which is on top of a 40% increase last year. Now advertising on Prime unless you pay more. Jeff Bezos Net Worth is $180 billion. How much money does he need?

I've been on Prime since it began in UK. It used to be £79 per year, but went up to £96 last year. I have run out of things to watch now, and struggle to find anything without ads that satisfies my taste. So I have recently taken out a Netflix subscription for £10.99 per month, and haven't watched Prime since. I will not be paying the additional £2.99 per month for Prime, but I will keep the basic Prime, as I buy regularly from Amazon. It's a shame they don't separate the subscriptions between Amazon Prime, and Prime video, and all the other crap they flog, so that we could choose what we want to pay for, and reduce the monthly cost.
They won't be getting my money. I try and use Amazon as little as possible these days. The customer service is awful as well. Greedy. Vote with your feet.

Yeah. I'm so disappointed. The reason I paid for some streaming services to begin with was to avoid those mind numbing ads. Because I still want to see news, I also have cable, and that is costing me $227.00 a month including internet. Lately, I'm also noticing Amazon is out of lots of perishables and the delivery times are increasing. Maybe I should reconsider that subscription. Besides, do I really need anymore Chinese junk in my home?

All companies gamble on losing some customers and provided profit increase is more that subsctiptions lost then considered good deal.

At £96 a year it’s really not bad value you get free delivery if you use that say once a month that £72 saved on £5.99 deliveries then your paying £2 a month for the films and shows kinda a bargain when you think about it with or without adds

I only use it for the delivery, if I want to watch something ad free I'll get it from Captain Jack, I've already paid for it so I'll watch it how I want.

I am seeing prime cable because my wife pays for the membership. I think that the money they get from that should make prime ad free. I also do not like the ads in the included freevee videos. If I pay to watch video's they should not have advertisements! If I want to watch ads, I'll watch TV. Thanks.

I chose not to pay for ad free with ads. I have Amazon for the free shipping and only pay $7.06 month but watch my ad free subscriptions intsead.

I got prime free for six months then £4.49 a month for the next three years as I work at a university. The people at Amazon seem to think I'm a student. I have told all my colleagues about it and now they are doing the same.

I'd like to comment something interesting relating to this. Since the implementation of Ad's in the UK, the Amazon Prime app built into my Hisense TV has started crashing. Interestingly, this doesn't happen when you start a video, but it crashies as the first moment Ad's are about to be displayed 'mid-way-through' The screen just goes back,and I lose all control over my TV unless I physically, switch it off and on again to Reboot my TV. This has resulted in me digging out an old Amazon Firestick and using that to stream content instead. Did Amazon make a mistake in the updates or are they purposefully trying to disable certain devices. Has anyone else experienced this? Hisense can be late on implementing updates for thier TV's. Could it only be cheaper brands of TV be affected?
Advertising needs reeled in regulated its becoming instrusive. The subcriptions increase the adds become more and more example been it will not be too long before on screens CGI adds appear between add breaks like the way sport is going or shrinking the screen periodically. When does it stop

Just cancelled my prime subscription the adverts were annoying but I mainly cancelled because Amazon just isn't the same anymore!!
It used to sell top brands at good prices but now a lot of the top brands refuse to sell on Amazon because it is littered with fakes and Chinese knockoffs, also they advise BARGAINS or sale items that are still over priced.
I ordered a set of AK weathering pencils from Amazon 12% off or something so £42 down from £47 so I purchased them not thinking about it but after looking online they are only £32 in EVERY store it's like this on THOUSANDS of products absolutely disgusting!!
3 different pairs of Timberland boots all 3 pairs from 3 different sellers all FAKE returned for refunds, this crap and wasting billions butchering lord of the rings is why Amazon needs money but they still go for ANOTHER season haha not with my money! 🤑
Unfortunately they will never stop putting the price up until significant numbers of people cancel their subscription but it never happens, some will but not enough.
