    i take off the splint to clean my finger but i never bend it. but is it ok if i hyperextend my finger while i clean my finger? because i have done it once every two days just to rinse it and dry my skin.

    Is it okay if when I remove and put back on the splint isn’t always in the same position. For instance what I mean is sometimes I splint my finger in slight hyper extension and other times it’s just neutral. However, I never let the finger flex at all. Is this variance between neutral or slight hyper extension a problem?

    How do you take a bath with a foam one?
    I just recently got that injury. And I got those aluminum/foam ones

      You’ll want to cover it with press n seal or a bag. You don’t want the foam to get wet.

    QUESTION PLEASE
    I just got a tendon mallet finger on my little finger. My question is, do i just keep the knuckle nearest my nail straight? Or the middle knuckle too?
    I really hope i can keep bending the second middle knuckle too but i am worried it will over stretch the one near the nail .

      Unfortunately, no. You may seek the opinion of a surgeon as that may be your only option at this point.

    I’ve had my splint on for 8 weeks and was happy to finally take it off today. My finger is straight now but it’s still swollen and even hurt to try and bend it so I just put it back in the splint. Is my finger healed and I just need to slowly start to bend and stretch or do I continue to wear the splint until the swelling goes down?

    Mallet finger is stressful

    I have this on my pinky and the hand specialist has me wearing a splint fit to my pinky. Ive been wearing it for 3 weeks now but the splint has fallen off numerous times during various activities. For example it fell off today and i naturally squeezed my hand shut and it wouldnt stop throbbing. Also what is the purpose of keeping the finger so straight when you take off the splint. Why can’t you just stick out your finger so that it doesnt bend? Thank You!

    • @VirtualHandCare
      @VirtualHandCare  5 лет назад +1

      I would suggest going back to the hand specialist to have your splint adjusted or have them make a new one. You do not want that splint falling off or it could prolong your time in the splint and could cause it to not heal properly. The reason you can't just stick your finger out is because the tendon that keeps your finger straight is torn. If you don't keep it straight even out of the splint and it bends then all the healing of the tendon could be for undone!

    First, I cut little 4 pieces of cardboard from the notebook. Second, folded in half. Third, put my finger at the base to the 4 pieces of cardboard while folded what I made. And finally, put some tape on everything. 👍🏽🖕(middle finger recovered since a month)
