Technically these aren't considered street food if NYC. These are seasonal trucks. Street food would be the vendors in carts in the sidewalk

@@tomm487 Sometimes he says in videos that don't worry people ate the food when for example he order such huge amount that he can't eat so i guess someone most of the time eats the food he buys.

Wasting food is just so wrong especially since most food youtubers actually don't end up paying for the food at all either, they claim it as business expenses at tax time and get refunded. Giving it away should be a no brainer. I have seen a few who just chuck it in the trash after a few bites.....makes me mad!!

I went to a food park by the Freedom Tower a while back, and was utterly shocked at how expensive everything was. Yes NYC is expensive, but it's food out of a truck... I mean come on. I ended up just getting some Takoyaki, that was only "OK".
NYC sells itself on variety; I've had food quality just as good if not better in many other places. That said, I do love the availability of pizza and halal food ANYWHERE you go.

@@deadzio Doesn't change that it's still expensive and basically extravagant fair food lol. An overloaded af philly cheesesteak with foie gras and truffles is like the fancy version of deep-fried butter. I don't blame them for making rent though!

Loved how the Banh-Mi went through almost a security frisking/Vietnamese authenticity check by Sonny. I find it crazy how high end Vietnamese restaurants make a Banh Mi cost like 10 times the price yet don't keep it authentic.
I like how Sonny didn't make a fuss before biting into a whole pickled cucumber yet fresh one is where he draws the line 😂

Like I can't handle pineapple, both the texture and taste throws me off
I forgot about how he will remove fresh cucumbers from a Bahn Mi sandwich. Which I think is an essential ingredient. But he'll eat pickles all day long. 😀

It's probably a texture thing yanoe?? Like there's some food I can eat but only in certain forms for example I love celery it's probably one of my go to snacks and favorite foods of all time but if you boil it I just can't with the taste the texture 🤮🤮 can't stand it but I'll eat an entire bag plain no peanut butter no nothing

They charge $8.00 for 1 Pickle, and I can get an entire jar of the Kosher Large for $5
New Yorker here. Never eat Downtown unless you're trying to swing a big ding-a-ling. Go uptown to the Bronx. Still a little pricey compared to outside of the city, but this is where the working people live, so it's more affordable than the rest of the city. It's also among the more ethnically diverse boroughs, so the food is good and there's a broad range on offer.

Grill House ( Lebanese )
Pio Pio ( Peruvian )
Arthur Avenue ( Bronx's Little Italy )
188 Cuchifritos ( Puerto Rican Soul Food )

Nana's Kitchen ( Albanian )
I just live off by Chinatown and 1 dollar pizzas. Those 3 dollar noodles and dumplings are a steal
former new yorker here. dude, 1.7 million people live in manhattan. they work and eat and have lives as real as yours and mine.

That is true NYC experience. Now you have Queens with Indian, Nepali, Thai, Mexican, Italian and Brooklyn with everything. Manhattan has some awesome areas also to get ethnic food. I lived in NY all my life and never went to Bronx for food or anything ahahaha last time I was in the Bronx there guy running with baseball bat attacking a car ahahaha

NYC has excellent areas like west 4th street where you grab a Kati roll, cafe Reggio where you grab some awesome Italian food and snacks and amazing hand crafted cappuccino, expressos there tons good places in Manhattan

@@i_crave_death4660 It’s NYC city experience being in crowded area with the settings, the park, the lights, the location. It’s whole experience… There tons cheap places I can think of in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan but that’s not what its about. My point to you is I never met one person in NYC or in general that travel to Bronx for food.. Queens yea it’s happening, Brooklyn is happening etc. Telling tourists or people to go Bronx for food is wow. Bronx zoo yea that’s good and Yankee stadium
I love that the menu at 7:56 said “real crab fries”. I learned the hard way in NJ and Phillie that crab fries were simply regular fries with Old Bay seasoning. What a let down!

You need to really make more than 100,000$ a year to consider middle class in NYC. Less than that is considered poor.

The “burger” from the Chinese place is actually a 肉夹馍 (rou jia mo), a dish from Xi An. I really love it and I used to get it for takeaway on the way to school

@@sel9053 oh I’m not at all well atm in general, was in hospital 9 times last year (including my birthday, that was grim) due to an ongoing illness, it causes seizures so that’s what happened at the start of the week, ambulance only just made it to hospital in time. They have me hooked up to things now to try and boost my levels and extend the time before another one happens and hopefully I’ll be out of here before too long. Watching BEFRS and Mike Chen have helped get me through :)

Having traveled to New York, Bryan Park. winter market was one of my favorites. The no chewing allowed chocolate stand, and the Brazilians with the cheese wheels where they toast the cheese wheel straight onto a baguette bun life.changing good. Come down to Key West!

i ate 4 times in chinatown on my 6 day trip to new york because you can still find food under 10 dollar there 😄
Chinatown and the Burroughs, go to queens, harlem, parts of brooklyn and eat mexican, greek, chinese, indian etc… its out there but the tourist areas will crush you
