The first buffet place is cheap because the costs is subsidized by the temple donations. They are trying to provide to the locals who are Buddhist a place to gather and eat. The 2nd place is a good price considering the variety of food options and expensive and exotic ingredients. That’s hard to find it anywhere else outside of China.
@@nljie What you mean is how much money you earn in a country can buy in that country. There is a proper noun in economics called parity purchase. China is the world's number one country in terms of parity purchasing power.
The first "cheap" buffet is actually a charity food bank donated by nearby Buddhist temples and believers. They ask for a small amount of money to keep people's dignity and to make people feel they are paying for their food. But that pricing can hardly pay for the salaries of the staff, not to say the food. So, if one is in real difficulty, one can walk in, say the Buddhist prayer, and have some free food. 7:10 This noodle with tire pattern is called "dried tofu" or "dried tofu" in Chinese. Essentially, it is a type of tofu that has been compressed to make it more compact and elastic. The special pattern on it is the texture of a cushion cloth. During the compaction process, a cushion cloth needs to be placed between each layer of tofu. This cushion cloth is similar to the traditional thick medical bandage gauze, and these textures are produced during the compression process. It's not for the sake of aesthetics.

Holy.... that second buffet is insane. I obviously couldn't afford that often, but if I had anything like that within a 2 hour drive, that would be my birthday dinner every year.

That's pretty awesome they admonished you talking around the buffet. Won't see that in the US, that's for sure.

China has such interesting choices for food, gotta love their creativity. And great video as always 👍

You have different styles but with same passion and accurate narrative description of food and culture. I also like the open minded attitude you have toward new food. Keep up the good work👍👍
The restaurant assistant has the cutest facial expression when suddenly the camera falls on her at 17:44. She has an almost perfect awkward confused expression captured in the moment. Great video. Yeah that $80 buffet does look very unique for sure.
This content is real they eat exotic food it's not costly. Very nutritious!

The 80$ buffet absolutely amazing and worth the price I'm going to that place next time i visit china

Sonny I could watch your show and my brother Calvin’s all day long. Thank you both for the countless hours off making me hungry and laugh at the same time. I think the second buffet had more to offer and a better selection of fresh ingredients 🫡
Both buffets absolutely incredible, I would eat at the first one all the time due to lack of funds
and the second one, once a year for special event.

Buddhist Vegetarian restaurants are AWESOME in China, you can find them in every big city, especially in Fujian province where there are lots of Buddhists, the people who work there are almost always incredibly nice, priced around $5-7, support them if you can, good people good food, peace.
I was wondering when Sunny was going to do one episode in mainland China! As a Chinese who just came back to China from the US, I love all your videos!🎉
If I spend $80 on a buffet, I will definitely need ingredients that are not available in a regular buffet. What I mean is, even if it's just a glance or a taste, it's already worth the ticket price Not to mention if it cooks well
the editing on this vid was so good
Sonny, don't forget to thank Beyonce for your wealth since you made a P. Diddy reference xD
Literally the best food review show ever.
I'm now a lifetime fan due to your very thoughtful narratives.
You are an absolute five-star perfection.

80$ is a great deal , considering the high quality & freshness you are getting, in Vegas you pay 100$+ and you're getting just above average food.

"So they have amazing beef, but I decided to eat the intestines, tripe, testicles and penis instead." WTF
he did the right thing, intestines, tripe, testicles and penis are much more expensive than meat in china.....
In China, the intestines and testicles of cattle are much more expensive than beef, which is at least twice the price, because beef is always available, but these special foods are not always available. And I don't eat it often, just eat it occasionally and have different pleasures

1:51 That noodle is called Hefen (pronounced Her Fenn), it's the Cantonese name for rice noodle, very similar to the noodles in Vietnamese Pho. Other parts of China have different names for it and slightly different percentage of rice flour and other types of starch.
