Jan 1981 - NBC Feature on High School Senior Pat Ewing + College Announcement

From January 1981 - An NBC halftime feature on much ballyhooed high school senior Pat Ewing who, accompanied by his coach Mike Jarvis, sat down with Al McGuire to discuss the recruiting process and his start in the game, among other things. Also, stitched onto the end of the interview is separate footage of Ewing making his college announcement.

I think people forget that Mike Jarvis, who later coached at Boston University, George Washington, St. John’s and Florida Atlantic, was his high school coach.

I remember Jarvis coaching at GW and St. John's but, until I saw this, never knew he was Ewing's H.S. coach.

Thanks. That Ewing decision, and its aftermath, really shaped college basketball at Georgetown, in the Big East, and nationally for more than a decade.

Georgetown seems like such an obvious choice for him in hindsight. He made a great choice.
