    Shows so much why Geno is one the greatest coaches. He may or may not be an extrovert but he is a people person. He is empathic. He is hard on his players, but he knows they are people and puts himself in their position. Always guiding, always being a father.

      @cody2167 I was just about to really lay into you about how wrong you are about Geno.... But then ya had to bring up coach Bill Belichick .... and as a life long Pat's fan I completely respect and AGREE with your opinion on him... Then to find out you're a Jets fan and still you say that... !!! AWSOME !!!
      Now as for Geno, and being best coach ever , I assumed people would understand that I was talking about his specific realm (Womens College Basketball) I guess I should've prefaced that from the start

    I just love this (abbreviated) interview. Probably watched it 20+ times over the years.. Bensinger has a real gift for connecting with his interview subjects. He's one of the best I've ever seen. His subject is the colorful, always entertaining Geno Auriemma who happens to be the, hands down, numbers don't lie, best women's college basketball coach to have ever drawn breath. Any honest examination of his accomplishments should settle it quickly. Long ago his Uconn program's achievements rose to the overwhelming, jaw dropping level. Last national championship was 2016, oh the horror....BTW they've not missed a Final Four since 2007, that's 14 straight. Only if you understand how extraordinarily difficult it is for a division 1 team to reach a single Final Four, will you truly be able to appreciate Uconn's staggering achievement.

    This is why men are more often coaches. And, when they're not, they're Pat Summitt; if they wanna win.

    • @NikKnows404
      @NikKnows404 4 года назад +3

      We miss Pat here on Rocky Top - I watched that woman put the fear of God in many a human, male and female. I always said I'd never, ever want Pat mad at me. But she brought out the very best in her players, ran her team the way she wanted to run it, and didn't worry a single minute about what anyone else thought of her methods. There will never be another Pat Summit.

    • @2themoon863
      @2themoon863 3 года назад

      I wished I could have been at Tennessee practice the day after that Monday night men’s game vs. Then-#1 Florida-that was the night Coach Summitt comes out at the first TV time out, dressed as a Tennessee cheerleader (could you imagine her as a cheerleader as a youngster? It’s true, look it up!) and a crazy hat, singing Rocky Top. I think it’s the only time Duck Vitale was literally left speechless on air (the game was on ESPN). That Tennessee men’s coach at the time really thawed her out and brought out a side few had seen in public!

    Geno is not Diana's problem, he is WNBA's problem given he coached the physical approach, rather than a cleaner style of play. Don't get me wrong, in college, it works.. witness his success. in the Pros it does not come across as a marketable product. Ergo the "W" is mired in a do-loop. His coached players have now become coaches. .. without success.... Geno should go !!!

    UCONN's WNBA alumni, like Diana Taurasi, who delusionally fancies herself to be a podcast comedienne, would do well to listen to their former coach Geno Auriemma's criticism of their treatment of CC to the determent of the WNBA's future.
