    Dear Kara,
Thank you very much for your videos, they're really helpful, explain a lot.
I have a question which I'm not getting answer for. I did keyword research within my niche. Selected the multiple-word, highest ranking ones. Aiming to include them in my title, but according to the rule no keyword stuffing and repeating same words in the title I'm not sure what should I do.
For example, the best keyword phrases are: ‘Santa head cookie cutter’, ‘snowman head cookie cutter’, ‘sled cookie cutter’, ‘mitten cookie cutter’
The less good ones are: ‘Christmas theme cutters’, ‘festive gifts’
If I want to include all the good ones in the title, I will repeat ‘cookie cutter’ four times, which is not good as per my present knowledge. If I use the less good ones, than why did I search for strong keyword phrases?
If search engines anyways break keyword phrases into single words for query matching, then what’s the point of keyword phrase search?
Maybe I’m completely wrong in my logic, but hope you understand the confusion.
    Many thanks, Niki

What you can do is choose the two or three best ones and put those in with no changes. Then add the other terms to the title as well, because no search engine these days requires anything to be in exact word-order.
So if your two "best" keywords are "santa head cookie cutter" and "Christmas theme cutters," and the next best one is "snowman head cookie cutter", do the title like this: "Snowman or Santa head cookie cutter, Christmas theme cutters."
That way you have the two best ones in there in their exact order, and "snowman" is there for search engines to find (and they will) so you're covered for that one, too.
Keyword stuffing would be "santa head cookie cutter, santa head cookie cutter, santa head cookie cutter, santa head cookie cutter." If you use the word "cutter" in there more than once, that's not keyword stuffing, it's fine.

On a similar note to spelling: does Etsy know, for example, that colour and color are the same word? Do they pick up on American vs. British spelling? Or should i try to throw both variations in my tags? (We Canadians use some UK and some US spelling and i wasn't sure if it was wasting a tag trying to include both.)

They do adjust for common spelling differences like that.

May I have a question? Is it true that we also don’t need to put attribute in title and tags? Such as material, colour etc? Because Etsy also checks in attributes.

What is the difference between titles and tags?

    • @KaraBuntinTutorials
      @KaraBuntinTutorials  9 месяцев назад

Titles are the title of the listing and that's the most important piece of information in general when you're talking about search engines. The tags are more keywords that you use to give more information about the listing, so they support the title, but they're not even required. It's clearly better to list all of your products with full titles and full tags, but if you leave the tags out you'll still be able to list the thing and you'll still be found in search.

One more questions… i have noticed in the etsy search at the bottom.. etsy shows all the tags under related searches which if tags are just words will make no sense is that a problem?

Just how bad is it to slip in just one trademark keyword in your listings? I call my products "kitty swabs" and everything but "qtips", and I had the FB Etsy Guru police screaming at me for using "qtip" as a keyword in one of my listings. Its never in my title. I've used it for several years now.

It doesn't matter where you use it, if it can be found in search you're running the risk of having an infringement claim filed against the listing.

I had a Christmas pixi / elf listed. In the tags I had shelf decor. I had a “cease and desist” letter for using “Elf on a shelf” which is copyrighted. So search engines pick words and put them together. I had no idea about elf on a shelf, but learned.

how do you find the tags and title keywords ? i have everbee and erank but i cant find good high search low competition keywords...

Just write what the thing is and try to use a good variety of descriptive words in the tags. You can start focusing on the tools too much, to tell the truth. Just write the title for the customer.

You'll be able to see the stats that show what keywords are bringing people to your listing in the listing stats. When you get actual information in you'll be able to change things or add new ones that are related.

@@puppyloky Whether you use a tool or not, the only way to see if you're going to be found and seen for any term is trial and error. Once you learn the kinds of keywords that people search with it's a lot easier, but until you get an idea of how people search, it's all about trying things out.
