And it's safe for the mother but not for the child who is being cut to pieces.
A procedure that involves death of another human shouldn't be pushed. It's early term holocaust. No one wanted the Jews so they were rid of after being dehumanized and people were able to make excuses to okay it.

Why won't they allow people to file missing person's report for their daughters. If the parents care and want to file a report then it should be allowed. The parents know their kids better than law enforcement and if you find them okay, no loss. But when you refuse and days and weeks go by then any chance of saving a woman is Impossible.
Now you got dead bodies, not young girls.

Dayumm, the system failed them all. Idk how I feel about mom just automatically not trusting her daughter even when her daughter will claim to take a drug test. That's the most isolating, callous feeling ever, there's a reason she "ran away," and "disappeared." Even then, the fact that the authorities brushed off the disappearances so lightly just feels sooooo callous and lazy, the FBI's excuse at the end just felt like incompetent laziness to me. Sorry, maybe a legitimate actual background check instead of hiring a criminal who's proposing an informant role would have helped?

Kaysis mother really messed up, lettin him inside their lives, not believing her about the drugs. These types of cases always reminds me of Rusts phrase in true detective season 1 "the world needs bad men(refering himself as a bad husband or being capable to do bad things) in order to keep other bad men away from the door"

To her defense, though, psychopaths are always really warm, friendly, caring and extremely believable at first - and " first" can last for years. It's not like they come into a new relationship with red flags waving in all directions, being horrible and disgusting. It's not until they're pressured or questioned in one way or another that their mask falls. And drug addicts aren't exactly known to be very honest, especially not to their parents if or when they relapse. Having dealt with both young addicts and adult psychopaths (albeit not in the same situation) I can understand her. And I'm sure she blames herself for letting him into their lives every single day of her life. Unless you know what she dealt with, you can't understand it. I hope you never have to, but a little compassion for people who have been in situations you know nothing about would be a good personality trait to try to develop.

@@bdml77 This was more than 20 years ago. If the police wouldn't release the criminal record of convicts to anyone who asked and the information wasn't available online, how do you research people? Now - more than 20 years later - there are app subscriptions that allows anyone to find out absolutely anything they want about someone from any type of register. That was the kind of information that only private investigators had access to back then. Do we even know if they had access to the internet in their specific area? Vast areas of the country didn't have internet access at all in 2003.

I don't understand why they were not allowed to do missing person reports...people file them on family members every day. I think the police is misunderstanding the difference between the girls being legally old enough to the concern of their missing being out of character. I know it can get abused; my parents would use police and try to file missing person, but they knew there I was...just an opportunity to harass my friends, but if it is someone genuinely missing, they should file
