He really doesn’t have a good memory, I notice he’s always saying things differently than they actually happened in a lot of his reviews. For example in this video he says that the disappearing guy told Jesse “alright you don’t wanna pay this? Then get out and don’t come in here again” when in reality he never said anything like that, he actually told Jesse that he needs to have the full amount of money since Jesse was just a little short on funds and told him to come back when he has the rest which is not the same thing lol

Whilst I didn't love the films, I gotta say it's dumb to criticise the changes in the actors. In theatre, they switch actors on a regular basis and people are complaining about some bald cap and weight gain, lol?
Honestly, I even prefer Todd being so much bigger, he's more intimidating and creepy this way.

I enjoyed the movie and it's nice to see Jesse finally have peace after all the hell he's been put through because of Walt. I guess the only negative I have is that like Lori's comment below, I wish we could have gotten more scenes with Badger and Skinny Pete.
As far as scenes, I liked the shootout between Neil and Jesse (along with the welding shop explosion), the flashbacks (particularly the ones with Mike, Walt and Jane), the scenes with Robert Forster, the scenes with Badger and Skinny Pete and the scene with his parents where he tells them they did their best and the way he turned out wasn't their fault.

Another great review. Loved the movie, was fortunate enough to find a theater playing it, definitely prefer a theater experience. No, the movie wasn't necessary but what is? I had missed those characters badly and they were gone long enough for me to appreciate them even more.

I thought it was highly unnecessary but VERY well made. (Favorite shot is the overhead shot when Jessie is tossing the house)

I'm seeing and hearing about a lot of people thinking the "Wild West" standoff was lame and just silly. While I didn't find it to be up there with the most badass scenarios from Breaking Bad, I still thought it was pretty damn cool. Not sure what peoples gripes are, but then again people are bitching and moaning at some of the most trivial things from this movie so I guess I'm not surprised.

I’m glad you pointed out that though Walts bald cap looked a little off, why would he shave his head for a couple small scenes, and it didn’t take me out of the story at all. Also, I bet he didn’t shave his head mostly because then fans would be suspicious that he was working on something as Walt!

I don't mind fat Todd. What bothered me most is when Jesse has Todd's gun from the glove compartment and just gives it up to Todd, when he mentions pizza and beer. He could've killed Todd and had all the pizza and beer he wanted. I don't think Pete aged very well, though. He looked a bit old for the character, now.

After watching it a second time and thinking about it, the only thing I wish we would have got was more Skinny Pete and Badger. Specifically I would have liked 5 minutes on Badger dropping the car off and Pete getting arrested. We got the video of him in the first teaser, but I would have loved for the swat team to roll up and arrest him. But, can only do so much with two hours. Of course I would have loved to see a flashback with Saul and Huell, but they may be saving that for Better Call Saul. Overall I loved seeing the flashbacks of Jesse and Todd as well, it let us see what Jesse was up too while Walt was in Connecticut (or was it N. Hampshire? One of those cold ass states)
Edit: Oh, and I'm getting sick of seeing people bitch about seeing Skylar. She was a bitch. Unless it was watching her die who gives a shit.

Agreed about Skylar lol She was (For me) the worst character in the show. And mainly seemed like manufactured tension for the home life. (I think the actress did really good at making me love to hate her lol)
I don't think her or Walt Jr. held any relevance to the story in this movie. (So it would have been pointless to have them.)

I think as far as Todd goes fans should look at him as it is from Jesse’s memories. Jesse couldn’t think less of Todd as a human being and found him very creepy and odd. Under this idea, Jesse could have an inflated picture in his head of Todd because of his horrible experience with him. This is how I will look at it going forward to solve the issue. Same thing goes with Kaylee(Mike’s granddaughter in Better call Saul.) I like to think that all of his scenes with her are memories when he’s lying by the lake about to die from Walt’s gunshot. He doesn’t rem exactly how she looked or how old, he just remembers enjoying being around her.

I actually really enjoyed this movie, but not as much I enjoyed the series, but it works as a great epilogue. I loved his growth in this film. He’s definitely looking for redemption but is willing to go as far as killing someone to do it. I loved all the cameos. Walt’s broke my heart, it was great to see Mike, but it didn’t have the same effect because of his work in Better Call Saul. Jane’s was sad too. Very brief.
The Todd thing didn’t bother me with his weight gain because of the guy’s performance. It was sadistic. It didn’t mess up the continuity to me at all.
The Mexican stand off felt a little out of place, but it worked well because it showed how far Jesse was willing to go. So it worked.
I really liked it and I want to rewatch Breaking Bad and watch this directly afterward. I’m also hoping to watch all of Better Call Saul someday with Breaking Bad.
Vince Gilligan is just a genius story teller. Always thought so because of X Files.

I didn't really notice it until they did a full shot of himself with his jacket unzipped but even then I was into the performances so it didn't really bother me. I enjoyed the movie for the most part, but I only watched it once it’s not something I think I’d ever rewatch like I do with the actual series, I know I’m in the minority here but I’ll be honest I really didn’t give a shit if Jesse escaped or got a happy ending at the end of the series, I lost the rest of the respect I still had for him after he became a full blown snitch & screwed over Walt, so as much as I hate tod I can’t really blame him that much for treating Jesse like a “dog” or whatever after all his snitching, since as Gus would say “what kinda man talks to the dea? No man, no man at all”, also since I’m a firm believer that everything falling apart at the end was basically all Jesses fault too , if he never worked with Hank things would’ve ended up a lot better for everyone, I’m not saying everyone would’ve gotten a happy ending that way, but like Walt would’ve just had a hella dysfunctional family life until he eventually died, Hank would absolutely despise Walt but at least he’d still be alive, Jesse never would’ve been a tortured meth slave, & Brock wouldn’t have ended up as an orphan because of Jesses escape attempt, yee people like to say “Walts evil” for poisoning Brock, but honestly what’s worse for the kid, Spending a week in the icu from some poison berries (which lets be honest, Walt knew exactly how much to give him so the kid was probably never in any real danger), or waking up one morning to find out your now an orphan because your mom was randomly murdered in the middle of the night, ya know? So I think Jesse caused more damage to the kid than Walt ever did (plus Jesses also kinda responsible for Tomás death too),
I know Jesse was hella emotionally unstable by the end but I wish he wasn’t such an idiot sometimes & would see the big picture, like he had no endgame plans for working with Hank besides “get Walt”, like Hank was just straight up using Jesse as a very disposable tool, he didn’t give a single shit about Jesse & was just going to throw him in prison alongside Walt if he got his way, I mean thinking about it besides all the torture, the way Hank treated/used Jesse was basically the same as the skinheads, Hank was so hell bent on getting Walt that he was 100% cool with forcing Jesse into a potential trap to get murdered by Walt as long as it meant he could get Walt after (when Jesse thought the plaza meeting was a trap), like yee Walt would also use/manipulate Jesse sometimes too, but that was usually for both of their mutual benefits, plus he still loved Jesse like the son he never had & actually cared about him too

I noticed the Todd weight thing, too, but like you, it didn't bother me. What really bothered me, was the lack of Walt and the interaction between him and Jessie. I personally would've had more fun with the film had Walt lived and maybe been in prison, and maybe Jessie had to break him out for some reason, etc. Also, when Jessie gets rid of his parents, he's also getting rid of all the cops watching their place. You didn't mention that, but I'm sure you noticed all the cars pulling away, haha. I also think it would've been nice to get a scene where the Grey Matter people (I forget their names) take the money to Skylar, etc. Get a little closure to that storyline. Maybe the next movie, haha.

Maybe Todd gained weight during Jesse's imprisonment and lost it for Julia

Todd was bloated AF in this movie it was very distracting lol I don’t want to sound mean but breaking Bad is a 10/10 series if your coming back to play yourself from 8 or so years ago drop 20/30 lbs for the sake of the movie that will forever be on Netflix once the movies over to back to however he eats. Anywho I felt this needed to be at least a 6 episodes series. Jesses character deserves that much. I felt the movie was a bit to short

@@CodyLeachYT yeah, but it wouldn't've fixed anything, if he knew better he'd let it go and leave with his money but he s gone to the police and threw all his money away(not like they'll let him keep it anyway after ratting) , he didn't think that over for even a second, just because of him Hank died, Walter died with his whole family hating him, Andrea died, leaving a still alive Brock motherless, and jesse gets tortured for months on end,and that is not even counting other casualities that he didn't know personally, wanna talk about ego, Jessie's was the one that really sealed the bad deal, and I won't lie, seeing him suffer at the end, I found that deserved, he brought it on himself, hell maybe should have died rith there and then. All this time blaming walter for ruining his life as a nobody junkie deemed to die young on the street, and the second he acts on his own he ends up fucking things up way worse. Not making a caspe for White bring blameless but JUST because Jessie has one rule to never harm kids that doesn't mean he didn't indirectly did so anyway, and he's aware of it yet choosing to pop the cap the instant something comes up acting all mighty.

@@guotyr2502 ^This, had Jesse just let things go it would have been great. I like how he throws his millions in "blood money" away but has zero compunction about the shootout, stealing Todd's "blood money", etc. Jesse isn't a hero or even a good person. I never once recollect rooting for him. He just messed everything up, and made it all for (mostly) naught.

For a standalone movie, I think it was poorly written. The flashbacks took all the pace out of this movie. I really wanted to see how Jesse's story continued and the flashbacks took me out of it. I continuously looked at the playtime and how much time was left hoping Jesse's story was still a lot to tell. But with every flashback, it took another 10 or 15 minutes of the present story timeline.
But if you look at this movie as a forgotten episode or two, it was great and highly entertaining. I want to add that I'm fully aware this movie was not meant to be a feature film ride like we are used to. Like you said, this is not for everyone.

I´m a huge fan of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, but this film was very disappointing. The visuals were amazing and Aaron Paul nailed it again but not only the movie was totally unnecessary, but it was pure fanservice. My biggest issue is the Jane flashback and Jesee´s smile in the end. It´s not fitting. Let´s bear in mind BB and BCS are about people´s lives turning into tragedies. Yes, Jesse is free but he´s gonna hide and live alone for the rest of his life, just like Saul. So, this happy ending smile just does not add up. In the end, this is the first time I felt Gilligan is pushing it too hard. Felina was the perfect ending for all the characters and El Camino did not offer anything we could´ve not imagined it ourselves regarding Jesse´s future. Not to mention Todd´s flashback, forced and fucking eternal. El Camino had fine cameos, great visuals and a great performance by Paul but no substance at all. The writing, the pace and the directing were really off. This film was purely built on nostalgia, which is not proper if you really wanna make a compelling movie that pays homage to one of the best series ever, if not the best.

Yeah Jessie being content about getting to ride off into the sunset completely breaks the tone of the series unlike Walt being content about beating his enemies and getting to die on his own terms. Also the Todd flashbacks have an actual point and give context to Jessie's actions. And "no substance"? Yeah cause it's not like the film bothers to give the protagonist an arc of regaining his confidence and coming to terms with his own culpability in the decisions he made throughout the series while working to try making a future for himself. Yep the film isn't about anything at all.
