For me, the main reason why season 4 outshines season 5 is because season 4 has Gus and Season 5 does not. Gus is my favorite character.

Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad and The Last Kingdom are just riveting shows non stop esp the final seasons.

imo season 3 is very slightly lower than 4 and 5. Id rate it like a 9.8

@@totalgv9155 The first half of season 3 is too slow and corny. Fly onward is amazing, but it just struggles a bit at first. Definitely still some good eps in the first half though. Season 2 is definitely slow also from an action perspective, but I was interested in the character stuff in that season. Where as the characters dont do as much in the forst half of season 3.
Jane is one of my favorite characters of the series. I feel like she weighed heavy on Jesse until the very end
for sure she did her dying broke more then even when he had to shoot that 1 cook in the face to save Walt

Dude this is my second comment in one day since I found your channel. You're God damn right there are no low points in Breaking Bad. It was a phenomenal series. My one complaint is the banter between the sisters, until season 5. Btw I LOVE the background track, "Counting Bodies Like Sheep" (remix?) By APC. Thank you for having the courage to put yourself out there and share your unique perspective on great media. You are a fantastic critic. Maybe it's because we share a lot of the same point of view. Your videos hit home with me. You're awesome at what you do and if you have a team behind you they're great too. If you don't, you're a one man powerhouses. I wish you and yours all the best in the world. I know I'm late to this video and you won't even see it, but damn it, you're KILLING IT! Thank you for giving your unique perspective. It makes me feel like I'm not alone. EDIT: This was the only series that I've watched where I really felt the six days between episodes. It was so hard to watch it in "real time." I love this show and I just rewatched it since my girlfriend had never seen it. Every season is awesome, but I definitely have my preferences.
5. Season 1- it’s a really great introduction, with a darkly comedic tone. The only thing that holds it back is that it doesn’t have the impact or the length of the others. 9.5/10
4. Season 3- Aside from the slow start in the first half, this is nearly a perfect season. The storyline of Gus and Walt’s working relationship goes through such a great arc. The last 2 episodes of this season are 2 of the best episodes of the entire show. I just get a little bit more out of the next 3 seasons 9.5/10
3. Season 2- I absolutely love this season. This is where the show really found it’s footing. The storyline this season is fantastic and the black and white sequences just fill you with so much anticipation. The introduction of Saul, Gus, and Mike I’ve always enjoyed going back and seeing where they started. 10/10
2. Season 4- talk about a nerve wracking season that is just absolutely brilliant. Walt vs. Gus is the most captivating storyline of the entire series. Walt completely becomes full villain by the very end. Face Off is just a masterpiece of an episode and I think is my personal favorite episode. 10/10
1. Season 5- this is my favorite season of all time. Heisenberg is on full display here and it really is the rise and fall of him this season. It’s a masterpiece of a season and it’s absolutely brilliant. Everything you think is going to happen doesn’t happen that way and it’s all the better for it. 10/10

I watched few episodes long time ago but after watching your work here i went and saw the whole show and since then i watched it like 3-4 times
But i just got the blu ray box set on my birthday last week and i have to be honest...its amazing
Watching all the extras and especially watching episodes with the crew and producers and directors commentary is even better...so many small details and extra bits that i never noticed which makes this show a masterpiece...thanks Cody...👍

I couldn't agree more that this show is television perfection. Personally, I'm not sure if I can split this or "The Sopranos", but as with that show, I know that I will binge "B.B." every few years and never tire of the utter pleasure that this will inevitably elicit.
Thanks to your videos, my first (long overdue) such revisitation begins tonight.

Hey Cody found out about your channel last year because of your Breaking Bad videos. Saw the season 1 and 2 reviews which after I watched both I went "Shit I got to get into this show now". Which I'm not kidding shortly after I saw them I blind bought EVERY season of Breaking Bad(and seasons 1-4 of Better Call Saul) and binged watch all 5 for the first time like a crack addict all before El Camino came out and I love this show so much now. Consider my subscription a thank you for making a Breaking Bad fan out of me.

AMAZING story with John Teller and Jax, amazing acting and just so many emotions with the brotherhood and family. I think Breaking bad is brilliant! Cool to see you ranking a series. No seasons for me as I watched it all as one thing on Netflix, I was very late to Breaking Bad as life got in the way but boy am I so glad I found it. Now watching all your content on BB. Amazing Show.

I binged it in a week but, I finished up to season 5a in 4 days then I was watching a couple eps a night because I didn’t want it to end.
I didn't have cable and I finally got Netflix in between seasons 4 and 5. Upon advice from a friend I started watching. Yes, binge is an overused word, but I probably watched 4 seasons in a couple of weeks. Even called into work one day just to keep watching lol. I do think though there is something to be said for having to wait a week in between episodes and several if not many months in between seasons. Sure it's torture, but I think the experience is a little more pure. Still loved it obviously. And huzzah for saying goodbye at the proper juncture and not overstaying its welcome like a certain zombie show that just won't die.
The writers of that zombie show should have taken lessons from Vince Gilligan. I stopped watching when they killed Hershel. I read recaps though. They travel, find a home, people are bad. They travel, find a home, people are bad etc. Rick, the William Shatner of the crew, is going to whine or be bat crazy. Carl still has his hat on, and the rules change. I am so glad Vince Gilligan stopped it before it went Fonzie-jumps-the-shark.

The only shows that come close to Breaking Bad are Better Call Saul, The Wire, and Mr. Inbetween. Every other show that started out great ended up getting ruined by Hollywood greed.

Lol, came back to say I watched the couple videos you do have on Walking Dead and see why you haven't. I hope one day you will as it's my favorite show but after hearing your thoughts I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't.
Season 2 and 4 are my favs. All 5 are amazing though.

Choosing between season 4 and 5 was really difficult
The three last seasons are perfection. The first two are unbelievably great, but not on the level like the last three
I got sick a few weeks ago and am pretty much couch/bed bound so I binged watched all of Breaking Bad for the first time. It took a few episodes to really get into it and I am so glad I stuck it out. What a fantastic show! Loved every minute of it. I'm watching Better Call Saul now. It's good, but not as suspenseful or exciting as BB. But I love all of the characters. Jesse and Hank are my favorites. Hank's death was the only one that made me cry lol. I get you on Skylar. She annoyed me although she was usually right. Not sure I would have done anything different or better in her situation.
Hope you feel better. Stick with BCS it gets better as it goes on.

I think the most incredible part of the show was Vince Gilligan went into the show knowing he wanted small season count because of seeing how other shows out stay their welcome, see Walking Dead.

1. Jane's death was one of the most righteous and most deserved in the series.
2. You made the right decision on the runner-up. There's a lot that's awesome about Season 5 but they really blew it with that preposterous, blatant fan-service ending.
3. Season 4 truly is the pinnacle. As it happens, that was the first season of this show that I watched as it unfolded...and I gotta say, for most of it, I hated it! Walt was so emasculated and weak...until he wasn't. That end payoff was SO worth what it took to get there. Plus, c'mon, the poisoning sequence at Don Eladio's has got to be the greatest scene of this entire series.
Any chance of a Better Call Saul ranking before season 6 drops?

I am in complete agreement. Half measure is my favorite as well and to me is the biggest moment in the show. The episode the episode the show goes into the stratosphere. All in one word. RUN

Its so hard to rank this show....but I would have to agree with you. Gus is a great character and I thought the way he went out was epic as fuck.

I thought you said at the end of season 3 it ended with a cliff hanger of Jesse pointing a gun at Gus and I was thinking dont you mean Gale ; the fact that I remembered his name even thought he was a miner character and I've only watched this show one goes to show how memorable this amazing show was and is. P.S. I'm not very good at remembering peoples names even in shows I've watched numerous times. My favorite season of Breaking Bad is Season 1 I love dark comedys the most and what got me into the show was the very moment Cody said was what got him. What I didn't like about Season 5 was the Neo - Nazis, making Walt unsympathetic and turning Jesse into a snitch especially after he was becoming my favorite this season with being his smartest with the scientific solutions to their problems. Also Jesse has always been my favorite character amongst some of the most amazing complex riviting perfectly acted and casted characters and acters. God I have never texted this much in my love " God I Love This Show ".

Season 6 of Better Call Saul gives Season 5 of Breaking bad a run for its money, which just shows what brilliant minds Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan are, as well as the rest of its writers!

Can someone explain to me why people love season 4 so much? I hated it so much I almost stopped watching the show because I didn't care for season 3 either. (I'm glad I did though because season 5 was good but nothing compares to season 1 and 2 which feel like a completely different show to me and I guess I kinda missed that when watching seasons 3 and 4)

It's easy to rank Breaking Bad for me. Each season gets better and better, aside from Seasons 4 and 5, which I consider to be equals for entirely different reasons. Season 4 is a huge butt-clencher from beginning to end while Season 5 is the culmination of years of tragedy billowing up into a tornado.
Agree except switch season 4 and 5. 5 to me will never be topped ever.

Good Lordy, I miss this show.. my sister and her husband told me to watch it. They also said don't watch it all at once. So of course I binged watched it leading up to the finale. And watched it again. Don't ever do that.
Now that I am about 20 viewings in I still cannot figure out how Mr. White poisoned Brock. Help.
He used a poisonous flour called lily of the valley or something like that, (go and watch the finale of season 4 and check the last scene,) According to Vince Gilligan (Creator of BB) said that Walt poisoned Brock’s juice box while Brock was in school.

I love how Ironic it is in the episode Half Measures it's all about No half measures. No half ass solutions. And when Jesse confronts Gus about his men using kids for their shit what does Gus do? A fucking half measure.
