Great great song. He wrote it and does it all out. He was diagnosed in 2009 with cancer and died in 2010. He fought like he sang giving it everything every time. Appreciate you reacting to him.
Dio was 5ft4 and a powerhouse of a voice and entertainer...you have only touched the surface of his vocal range! He was not a drinker or drug user. He valued his voice and took care of it. He was around 62 at the time of this performance. He was probably experiencing the pain of his cancer. When he died all of us metal lovers died along with him. He is so missed! No one like Dio! A gentleman..pure class....i can go on and on
You heard him twice before with Black Sabbath, this was one of his later shows and I wanted to highlight how he was near the end. Dio kept on rocking up to the point he couldn't continue. Even on his death bed he still had a few videos to speak directly to the fans. This may not be his best live for this song, but my goal was also to show Dio as the person. He was in Rainbow, Black Sabbath (also known as Heaven and Hell), then as the band Dio. Thanks for the reaction.
this is the godfather's last band called heaven n hell, ronnie is 62 and died from stomach cancer 5 years later in 2010, doug aldrich from whitesnake lead guitar blond guy, rudy sarzo bass , this was a sabbath song, checkout holy diver and don't talk to strangers from this concert one of ronnie's best concerts imo
He wasn't doing well from his cancer so doing an earlier version would give u a better version . He didn't do drugs, he was ill but a fighter to the end. I always watch u so don't neglect to check it out ok??
This was before he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Not to say he wasn't feeling the effects of it at the tie. I saw him on the Heaven and Hell tour in 2007 and he was in top form. I have seen Dio several times, my favorite show was in 2002, at a small club. The greatest Metal Vocalist of all time (In my opinion).
Black sabbath with Dio is the real version. He was a struggling the last year's He signed with diaphragm not head voice a lot of times. He was a amazing singer for years
Yes that's Ronnie James Dio at 62 years of age..5 years before his death.. RIP 🤘..Does look like Vinny Appice the drummer.. Ronnie only stood 5 ft 4 and had a voice of a Giant.. he'll never be forgotten 🤘.. thanks for sharing bro!
This song was originally written and performed when Dio was the lead singer in Black Sabbath, so no, the rest of the band members here aren't the originals. This is a pretty well performed version of the song though, especially considering how late in Ronnie's life this was.
He was 63 years old here and considering he recorded his first record at age 26 in 1958 he sounds incredible but nowhere near what he sounded like in the 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s where he ruled the vocal world. He was/is the greatest and most influential hard rock vocalist in the history. Why people request the newer live versions of his songs I’ll never know. Would you show a video of Michael Jordan playing basketball in 2003 at age 40 or would you show him Michael Jordan at age 29 when he won his 2nd of 6 NBA title? It’s a no brainer isn’t it. Well it should be here too.
He was not 26 when he performed his first single in 1958, he was 18. That would mean he was 71 when he did this video. He did in 2009 at age 68. Do the math.
Also i don't agree His voice gained spectrum as he got older More raspy , more touching feeling , more thick . I love both , but i like his voice in his older age .
Ronnie James Dio is the singer. He originally did this song in 1980 with Black Sabbath. The other band members here are not original. He died in 2010 of stomach cancer. He has amazing vocals and is considered a rock god. 👍
I would propose you to try to sing these lines. Just a hint... the true greatness comes from the fact that this song is most of the time A4-D5 but Dio makes it sound (due ability to use of chest voice in high notes) like A3-D4. Many people are saying that Dio was a baritone although he was a much of a tenor.
Dude, Dio was 62 years old in this video, and he died within the next 5 years. This isnt a time in his career that his vocal performance should be getting critiqued, and he never did drugs🤘
Love me some live DIO!🤘 But you have to check them out live in Philly in 84! It's called A Special From The Spectrum. I was there & it was amazing! This is not the original guitarist. Vivian Campbell is the original guitarist for Dio & he was incredible! Do "Don't Talk To Strangers" or "Holydiver" from that Philly show please! Thank you very much my friend! 💥💯🖤🎶🤘 RIP RJD

Trust me 💯✌🏼 you will love this freestyle
He didn't do the heaven part in this version which kinda sucks because it's pretty cool I've seen him every time he came around in the eighties
Try "The Last in Line " Live 1984.
Hey brother go check out dio from 30 years ago 👍 this is him older. The man had pipes. One of the best ever
In this version of Dio, only Ronnie James and the drummer Vinnie Apice are the only original members of DIO the band.
Only Dio
Maybe the keyboard .
Simon wright is the drummer there

Idk what year or how old my g. I’ll critique what I hear not how they used to sound. Vocals wasn’t it.
