    3:17 Actually a single H on German license plates means it's registred in Hannover, not Hamburg.
    Cars registred in Hamburg instead starts with HH which is short for Hansestadt Hamburg.
    The Volkswagen Transporter/Multivans are made in Hannover, so it's very likely that the Buzz is made in the same factory.
    In Hamburg the VW Group only have a small MAN Diesel & Turbo SE plant, manufacturing components. They don't assemble any cars in Hamburg.

    The wind noise is disappointing. As a kid who grew up being driven around in the back seat of my family's dark green 66 VW sundial camper bus, I can vividly remember the hurricaine-like wind sounds at the windows, especially the windwings, competing with the din of that little air-cooled engine giving it's all at 60 mph on the freeway. Perhaps VW is allowing a little too much nostalgia to creep in to offset the quietude of the EV drivetrain. We loved our 66 and kept it until the late 80s, it was my first car but was not up to daily commuting across LA to my first professional job so I sold it to a VW enthusiast and bought a new car. I regretted selling it then, and I still regret it to this day. Perhaps this new EV will find its way into my garage.

      @@JohnnyZenith let’s pray the uk long wheel base uses the same seat system as the T7 Multivan or earlier caravelle seat rail system. Being able to take seats out easily, slide them around etc etc would make this vehicle perfect. Front swivel seats are also a must. Let’s hope the battery doesn’t stop such a system.

    The whole video, I had a great big smile on MY face! I’ve no doubt my smile would be way bigger driving the Buzz.
    I had a 1967 VW Bus when I was in college in San Francisco in the late 70s. It was not fast, nor powerful. But I sure had some good times in that 😉!
    I may not be able to wait for the Buzz to come to the US. I may have to go to Europe and rent one for a road trip there! But when they come here, I’ll be in line! White and blue, just like my old Bus.
    Thanks for a great video, Kyle!

    You know, I and my husband were both REALLY excited when we saw that VW was FINALLY coming to market with a production version of this new "Micro-Bus." We are HUGE fans of the original bus, which has long been an icon in automotive history. But where that original bus was a built specifically to appeal to the masses and especially those who didn't have a lot of money to spend on car, VW has decided to make this new bus a high-end electric status symbol which will be WAY above the financial means of most people here in the U.S. If this starts with a base price of $60,000, the trim levels with all the most loved features will be $70,000 - $80,000, which is not just a shame, but it's insane! We are talking fully loaded Mercedes E Class or BMW 5 series money here. You could get a fully loaded Genesis GV80 AWD Prestige with a 3.5 twin turbo V6 for that kind of money, which just blows this vehicle away in regards to luxury appointments, power, quality and reliability. VW missed a GREAT opportunity here to make this an electric vehicle for the people, like the original was. What they are bringing to the U.S. instead, is a vehicle targeted to the upper crust with fat bank accounts, who have fond memories of the buses of their youth, but who are discerning and are going to be disappointed in the level of luxury features and quality that this ID. Buzz will offer for such a high entry price.

      the one single good thing in this car is the beautiful and cool look, except that, it's an expensive piece of crap (nothing exceptional in the interior or the tech, everything is usual and cheap build plastics).
      if u like the VW bus, look at the new T7 hybrid, it's a little bit more expensive than this one, but at least you get a high specs and build quality for your money!!

    • @lorenzmuller4000
      @lorenzmuller4000 2 года назад

      I think your estimated price is way too high. A fully equipped ID BUZZ costs 74000€ here in Germany which of course includes the VAT. That would translate to $60000 in the US, with a base price of $50000.

    • @primemoverRR
      @primemoverRR 2 года назад

      @@lorenzmuller4000 74,000€ converts to $74,989 US dollars. That would also not account for the extra cost for the AWD, dual motors and larger battery pack which will be for the U.S. model, along with the extra costs for extending the wheelbase and adding a 3rd row seat for the U.S. model, so my estimates are pretty much right in line with the current pricing and probably under-estimating the extra costs associated with the upgrades planned for the U.S. model.

    • @lorenzmuller4000
      @lorenzmuller4000 2 года назад

      @@primemoverRR Again, you forget that the European prices include the VAT which you need to deduct to get a comparable US price.
      The easiest way to compare the US price to the German price is to look at existing models.
      The ID4 AWD Pro starts at $46295 in the US (with everything you need already included), while in Germany you need to pay almost 65000€ to get a similar equipped ID4 GTX.
      What I want to show you with this comparison is that even after deducting the VAT from the German price, the US price is still lower.

    • @acchaladka
      @acchaladka 2 года назад

      I bet if you compare retail price when they launched the original, with today's price and adjusted for inflation, the prices would be very close if not better today considering all the safety tech and drivetrain improvements.

      Well they are different categories of vehicles of course. One's a family friendly suv the other is a 486 HP sporty sedan.
      My id4 has alcantara massage heated seats. With the help of lumbar support and much softer suspension compared to a sports sedan, both my boyfriend and I agree the id4 feels so much more comfortable.
      The rwd offers 0-100kph in around 7.5s. Definitely slower than my M3p's 3.3s but enough for real world usage. Handling is not as good either except during tight space parking thanks to the surprisingly tight turning circle. It's always more practical when i need to haul stuff around. Once i had trouble putting all my 4 cats and their traveling cases inside my M3P sedan trunk.
      However there are disadvantages over a tesla: software sucks, phone app sucks, no supercharger network, low effiency, slower charging speed, no tesla cam and sentry mode.
      Overall i love them both. Hope it helps.

    Funny how you don't like a bunch of stuff, but are so stoked to drive it that it all sounds positive anyways. Sounds like you enjoy retaining invites from manufacturers to review their products. A fine line to walk I guess since that is your job. In these types of reviews I pay attention to any criticism over any hype or feelings because I know you have a job to do and you try to keep things positive. Batteries must not be very good if they keep more than 10% off limits and don't allow very high fast charge or for a very long period. That will need to be improved for the US model.

    I've got a full spec Style" on order and so excited, just a few minor disappointments that could have made it so special. No sunroof, kids love looking out at the stars or planes going overhead, also adds to the sense of space and light in the cabin. No vents or armrest for the second row is a big disappointment. Add that to only a 77KW battery and no dual motor mean will have to change and upgrade as soon as all these become an option...........Still we can't wait for delivery day, just hope sooner rather than later!!

    AUTO MAKERS PAY ATTENTION! Add the extra length of the US version, take out the back seats, put in the kitchen/sleep unit with a pop top and you have a vehicle that will sell like hot cakes. Three big markets I can see for it: 1. College students who want to avoid dorms and apartments ($$$) and can, after graduation, resell it to the incoming freshman class. 2. Young people working in the high tech biz in areas where housing is outrageously expensive (Silicon Valley, Austin, Seattle, Boston, etc.) 3. When you add an extended milage version, people living in their cars, Road Warriors and Van Lifers, will eat it up. The same will hold true if mini vans producers (Toyota, Chrysler, Kia, Honda) would enter the market and work-van makers (Ford, Benz, Ram, Nissan) would slam a full floor-length battery pack in their vans with a raised roof. In other words, don't think of making just vehicles but mini homes on wheels, use inflation to your advantage. I'm a retired person who's rent have gone up 20 precent in the last two years and I'm looking at buying the Ford Lighting or Chevy Silverado EV, putting a composite, over-the-cab camper on it and hitting the road, never to pay rent again!

    Anyway, if those rear Buzz seats are comfortable I'd be happy with it - assuming that tray can hold a full cup and got used to the usbc door placement. Yet more Form over Function! The back seat should be easily convertible from a bench seat into a double bed. There should be USB ports all over it and an external 240v power supply . Camper pull outs for weekender trips away? Shockingly patronising of VW.

    In another review, i saw a 0-60 time of 10.2 seconds. That was surprising, given what we've come to expect from EV's.

      vw always overdelivers... even in the e-up i would say in reality it takes 9 sec

      My wife's old Kia Soul EV and current Kia Niro EV were both around 9 seconds, but it feels quicker than that due to the torque. But the dual motor version should get that down to about 7 seconds which should be great for a big van.

      @@rcpmac exactly! The 0-60 is getting annoying! Average person just needs a smooth car to drive

      It's more in line with what a typical driver expects. Most couldn't tell you if it was 9 sec or 12. Drivability, range, and less tire wear is much more important.

    VW is making a mistake not selling the euro-size in the US. Not every van needs a 3rd row
    Keep it small and sell î cheap.

    All the negatives are the dealbreakers for me. Love the Buzz but need the Volvo quality and comfort. Less noise, excellent seats, sunroof with shade. But this is my dream ev. Oh 4x4 an absolute must!

    I think VW would be remiss not to offer the short wheelbase option in the States. It's a nice, handy size for couples or small families.
    The lack of middle rear seat armrest or the ability to slide the front seats rearward is definitely a miss.
