A little bit of crying is nothing to be ashamed of Johnny. I'm not afraid to say that I teared up at the car wreck scene too. The bittersweet emotional rollercoaster of soppy teenage romance and dealing with the death of a parent mixed with sentimental instrumental post-rock is a heady combination for sure. I think the devs did a really good job with this first episode.
As much as I understand that Joyce deserves to be happy and that Chloe should at least make an effort to be polite, it doesn't seem like Joyce has taken the time to slowly integrate David into Chloe's life. As much as she has the right to fall in love again, Chloe also has the right to dislike him, so by Joyce's actions so far, it's coming across like she's pretty much saying "you're just gonna have to deal with it" but that might just be me interpreting it that way
"Who's Steph?" It's kind of hilarious rewatching this LP after watching the True Colours playthrough, and hearing that line. Well, let's just say she managed to make quite an impression!
Finally! a Let's play of Life is Strange that actually cares about the characters AND isn't in a hurry to get the dialog over with. Really, really enjoyed watching this, especially because you're both shippers and pay attention to detail and remember the connections from the previous game. New subscriber here
If you relish LPs that take the time to delve into the social issues brought up by the games and the personalities of the characters, I can't recommend the Geekremix and Miscatsquad playthroughs of LiS and BtS enough.
I've watched Episode 1 many times and Rachel's scream at the end still gives me chills and goosebumps. Before the Storm is a fantastically written and paced story. Deck Nine did a great job.
I totally get why Aoife is on the Amberprice ship, but I was totally surprised how Johnny was so into it. His enthusiasm and "just kiss" exclamations really tickled me. . . . . Also, THAT DINING CAR JOKE!!!
I know right. And It makes me so upset when people say this game isnt good. In my opinion its one of the best LIS games. We get such a deeper look into chloes character and get to relate with her so much more. People who hate chloe really just lack so much empathy. The way chloe handles the grief of losing her dad is such a accurate representation of what its like to lose a parent at such a young age. Her character is just so well written in my opinion. I can relate to her so much and i grew to be very attached to her character. People say this game was unnecessary but i think it was very necessary. It shows us why chloe is the way that she is and we get to see more about how her and rachels relationship was and why she was so hurt about it in the first game.
I swear I keep coming back to this video because their reactions crack me up! But 2:23:18 is even more heartbreaking if you choose "friendship"... the way Chloe says "please, I don't want to be alone anymore" 😭😭😭
I have seen so many people playing LIS Before the storm, this one is clearly one of my most favourite. I loved the way how you guys valued the emotions and took your time and didn't rush it :) cheers. Great video
i know that im so late to this play through but i just have to say that it is SO refreshing to watch a playthrough of this game where the commentator(s) actually remembers the details of the first game, is invested in the characters and story, and isn't trying to rush through it while shitting on it the whole time. got so sick of watching popular youtubers play it just because they wanted views and people told them to, only for them to call it boring. this game isnt meant to be an action packed plot heavy exciting game about superpowers and conspiracy, its just about seeing the characters we love again. sorry for the rant i just suddenly found this play through and i didnt realise how nice it is to see a youtuber aCtually enjoy what they're playing lol
EXACTLY. This game is meant for you to really feel and have good and bad emotions! Thats why I really enjoy before the storm especially. It gives us so much more depth into chloes character and why she is the way she is. It made me sympathize with her in the first game because I really know now what she went through before max came back. I can really relate to chloe especially as someone who lost a parent at such a young age. The way chloe acts in the first game is really accurate to how a lot of people act when they have emotional trauma. Chloes way of blaming people and lashing out is like a coping mechanism to a lot of people who are struggling. This game also made me realize how much of an asshole max is. Makes sense when she went back in time to William being alive she was a mean girl. Shows who she really is.
I enjoyed the hell out of this video, so please play through all three chapters! I'll happily watch you guys laugh, cry, and desperately encourage Chloe and Rachel to kiss.
I've literally just spent an entire evening watching let's plays of this, but coming back to this one, and it's easily the best. I love how you guys are so into it together! Constantly saying "just kiss" and I was right there with Johnny, exactly the same reaction as you guys when it hits. Gonna be looking for your video for episode 2 as soon as I've finished it
The morning song after the Old Mill wasn´t from Daughter. Although they made a bunch of songs specifically for LiS that one was No Below from Speedy Ortiz. Also a really good band. Not trying to be rude or anything, just wanted to point it out because I love both the bands.
Can i just say im so glad i found this channel while looking for playthroughs of this.. we definitely need more lgbtqa lets players so this made me rly happy.. this was so enjoyable to watch since you guys were as into the story and the romance as i was as opposed to the many others ive seen. I really hope you guys will also upload for episode 2 and 3.. (also aoife is rly cute so what more could i ask)
If you sabotage Victoria's homew ork you say "Oh yeah I think the answer is Fluorine Uranium carbon potassium Uranium It's my favourite joke of all time
$5.00: "Next stop, the train to Fucktown!" EDIT: "The DINING CAR on the way to Fucktown!" Oh, Johnny, you slay me. :D Edit the Second: Love booty! Plunder secret treasures! *YASSSSSSSSS* ;)

As I said, it's not selfishness, it's psycopathy.
This playthrough is such a comfort watch for me, and somehow I always forget about Johnny's spot-on perfect "Alyssa voice" until I'm laughing my ass off at it 😂
I streamed this on Thursday it was a pretty fun enjoyable game that hit me in the feels once or twice,i wasn't sure if it would of been as good a the first game without the time power but you don't miss it and the new backtalk feature is pretty cool when Chloe gives some pretty sissy come backs :) I thought i wasn't going to like the new voice actor for Chloe but i was wrong she did a great job, really looking forward to episode 2 :)
I'm 'Late to the Party', but I've always played elves in D&D and at least two of them were barbarians. The racial attributes don't line up at first glance, but the increased agility and such actually balances out a lot of the downsides to being a barbarian. It's one of my favorite classes to roleplay because no expects an elf barbarian. ^_^
So after Bloodborne and Dark Souls, this is the 3rd lets play that I watch from you guys, and it's really different and is just the right tone for this game. Thanks a million for sharing the journey! :)
I cried too Johnny. This was incredible! Now I have to play the original. I was skeptical at first, because Chloe seemed like such a cliche of teens trying to hard, but as it went on all these layers emerged, and I realized she was dealing with the loss of her father and her mom's JERK boyfriend, and she became a complex character in a compelling story. Also, I totally ship Chloe/Rachel. (just kiss!!)
i know im late to the party but there is no other LIS playthrough i'd rather watch than yours and also i enjoy seeing Johnny's arms progressively getting more and more inked
You'll notice, that in the smashing scene, Chloe says "fuck David", "fuck off Rachel", and when it comes to Max she cuts herself off and says "fuck cameras" instead.
the Dark Room wasn't a sex dungeon...that is what makes Mark Jefferson far more interesting than most villains in LIS. he wasn't a pervert or interested in girls for sex reasons. he was obsessed with photographing them, trying to capture them at the height of their beauty and innocence. it was disturbing, weird and fu£$ed up yes...but his obsession had nothing to do with sex.
I've been rewatching parts of this video all day. Then I watched dad simulator ones. Never thought I would be watching letsplays. You guys remind me of the old destructoid/rev3games shows. (BTS ep. 2 and 3 and Bone that daddy Mat are mandatory now)
@ 2:25 If it makes you feel better, I chose almost all different options from you and ended up with the same end. This kind of nonsense happened to me before as well, with a high achieving girl I admired and I thought we clicked amazingly with. When I emailed her half a year later, for sake of closure, she replied with: "There was also a weird feeling I didn't really like of feeling like I was being idealised or put on a pedestal somehow. I remember your eyes, the way you looked at me at my apartment in Auckland, a kind of hunger and shame, as you said you didn't quite understand why someone like me was being friends with someone like you." "Panic, disgust. Yikes. It makes me scared to name those. My mother is someone who's energy is so desperately needy (rightly so; my father doesn't really emotionally engage with her) comes across as banshees nails on a thousand chalkboards. It makes me leap out of my skin. I have no idea about what specifically it is you did or said that made me feel that way too, but I remember at the time feeling sheer panic and revulsion..." "STOP CALLING ME LOVE AND DARLING". I couldn't handle being addressed "luv" when I didn't feel that level of closeness which is weird, given that I myself wrote "Hey love" to you too. " "Well, something else I've learnt about myself and the people I value the most in my life - are people who know when to interrupt me and do it often. I LIKE being interrupted." "You listened, but I didn't get a sense of emotional responsiveness from you - your questions interwoven with my words felt intellectual, logical, practical, not at all the warmth and depth that other friends show. I think it's just an instinctive feeling, to feel as if someone is tenderly "attuned" rather than "practicing" being there (but not actually quite there)." I've never been so insulated in my entire life. This is a person I put all my heart into (even though I guess I'm not good at expressing emotions!)., countless hours of my time to, working hard to be emphatic and make it a mutually enjoyable and meaningful relationship. What's WORST about her is that she kept all this inside to herself for YEARS while we had known each other without offering me a single course correction! Oh, wait, that would be logical, practical advice and not empathy. Oops! Also where is the infamous empathy in this email? My first reaction was to strangle her, but instead I wrote her a kind email thanking her for her honesty and wishing her well. Not before taking a little revenge with "Life's too short to be with people who don't cherish who you are. "
I loved this, watched it after finishing the game last night. It really moved me, I was a wreck during the junkyard scene too Johnny! I hope you'll play the other episodes as well when they're out. Thanks Aoife & Johnny!
Pleeeease, please continue this Let's Play with the other two episodes (and the bonus episode)!! I played through this episode two days ago and just couldn't stop thinking about it and then I found this video today and it was just perfect! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a Let's Play or any kind of youtube video soo much as I enjoyed this one. Please continue! But when you do, pls don't skip so much of the game. There were so many great things to experience in this game that you guys just left aside, especially on the school yard (Skips band demo, encounter with principle Wells, ...).
Ik this is random, but I have to say I appreciate the good quality audio of the gameplay and you guys' voices. My laptop's audio has become shitty over the years which makes it difficult to hear some RUclips videos, mostly gameplays (my headphone jack doesn't work anymore either). Just gotta say I appreciate it.
Omg. I wasn’t able to play this back then. So I played true colors before coming to watch this. And omg seeing Steph texting Chloe has got to be the most surprising thing ever.
One thing about the game that kinda takes away a little from its greatness (and I do think it's a great one) is the false friendship/romance dichotomy. You actually should choose the romantic path if you want to enjoy the story to the fullest with the best dialogue and most endearing interaction. Going the friendship path you don't get anything in return: a lot of stuff gets deleted, but you don't get much instead. So to me it's just the illusion of a choice, a bit unfair to some players.
I like the dynamic of the household, but I feel like all of them are handling things wrong. Chloe is more obvious since she's acting out due to her losing her dad, but she shouldn't be taking it out on her mom or worrying her because she is trying to find new love. Her mom though needs to respect that Chloe misses her dad and just because she likes David doesn't mean Chloe has to. She doesn't even have to respect him like she wants her to do so badly. No, respect is earned, not given. And David is being too demanding. He may love Joyce (and Chloe, I'm sure) but he is going about it wrong. Chloe doesn't owe you crap just because you think she needs a father figure. She had one and she lost him, gotta give her her own time to grieve. Also removing the pictures of her dad is a bad move. Even if you find new love, you should still remember him. And if that's due to David, tough crap.
this is definitely the best let's play of this game I watched so far, you gained a new subscriber :) I look forward to see you two play the rest of the episodes!
Johnny's face at roughly the 1:05 mark is... the best reaction to the situation. I want a perma screen cap of that. :)) I know I can do that but still.
49:10 I wouldn't talk about my boyfriend while my daughter hates him, I would know it's because of my late husband she hates him or...something else like he's a deadbeat if the situation was the same. Like, all the jokes would more about our actions and other stuffs, would Own up to being a inconsiderate mom and help her love me and people around her.
As soon as I saw Johnny cry, I subbed. A person who shows emotion is a good one in my book.
SYL Ben the song made it more sad than what it was
I definitely cried at this scene too, even a second time when watching this let's play of it. Game's intense.
I cried so many times right up through season 2. Such a beautiful game.
As much as I understand that Joyce deserves to be happy and that Chloe should at least make an effort to be polite, it doesn't seem like Joyce has taken the time to slowly integrate David into Chloe's life. As much as she has the right to fall in love again, Chloe also has the right to dislike him, so by Joyce's actions so far, it's coming across like she's pretty much saying "you're just gonna have to deal with it" but that might just be me interpreting it that way
Chloe: "Oh, that's right you don't have one"
Johnny: "Bodied."
iconic. fantastic. amazing. brilliant. never been done.
"Who's Steph?"
It's kind of hilarious rewatching this LP after watching the True Colours playthrough, and hearing that line. Well, let's just say she managed to make quite an impression!
So it's the same Steph from True Colours?
@@Googaliemoogalie Yeah, same character. There's even a DLC where she reminisces about Arcadia Bay.
she certainly did!

The Strange Rebel fits that description as a let’s player perfectly, also. Check her out.
I've watched Episode 1 many times and Rachel's scream at the end still gives me chills and goosebumps. Before the Storm is a fantastically written and paced story. Deck Nine did a great job.
The music in this game is of course, as expected, amazing.
Daughter doesn't disappoint.
Pissing hell, here I was determined not to watch a let's play until I had replayed the game at least once.
So much for that, thanks Eurogamer!
27:00 the band is called Speedy Ortiz and the song is called No Below
I totally get why Aoife is on the Amberprice ship, but I was totally surprised how Johnny was so into it. His enthusiasm and "just kiss" exclamations really tickled me.

I don't know why but I feel so happy when people talk good about LIS. xD I love LIS and LIS community. Its not just a game, its like a life experience

Since I can't high five Johnny through the screen for "Dining Car," I'll just have to settle for a thumbs up.
Also, a "Locksley" vanity plate at a punk show? That merch dude kinda deserved it.
I know. It's such a fucking good joke.
1:03:10 "Hello? I'd like to report a murder" XD
That was my favorite playthrough of the episode. And I think I've watched literally all of them at this point. Love you guys.
Nichijou Faller agreed!
I can't be the only one who thinks that when Aoife sneezes it sounds like she's saying Pikachu and sounds like him too.
Naji Ishag 2:00:14 my god, you're right.
aoife is so cute, even her sneezes make you go aweeee....
I thought it was how Princess Peach would sneeze
When she sneezed, my dogs went into 'hunter' mode because they thought it was the sound of a small animal
Whats the pronounciation of her name?
"I'd like to report a murder." - Aoife

Still watching 'til THIS DAY. Your LiS Let's Plays are easily my favourite on RUclips; especially this one. "The One That Started it All"
This is how many times they said “just kiss”
⬇️
YES! Keep playing when the new episodes come.
Cheers guys.
"Oh my god just kiss"
"Just kiss her already"
"That's a lame game, just kiss her"
Cmon guys, tell me how you really feel.
Mr Klutz54 it was a joke.....
i found that annoying, but in general they are entertaining :D
all they want is a kiss mate, lmao
I took a shot everytime Johnny said "come on mate!" and now I'm dead
I don't know if anyone noticed, but by the time 13:27, the T-shirt salesman is talking to the truck driver who appears in the original LIS
I enjoyed the hell out of this video, so please play through all three chapters! I'll happily watch you guys laugh, cry, and desperately encourage Chloe and Rachel to kiss.
Johnny: "Here comes something big..."

Barium.

Andrew Martinez who the fuck is amber
HØŁŁØW Prince I know lmao before he edited his comment it said Rachel and Amber
SO much to love about this Let's Play... :D

Edit the Second: Love booty! Plunder secret treasures! *YASSSSSSSSS* ;)
that last text to Max at 2:16am just saying "max" is heartbreaking. boo Max! boo!!!
Since when is there a canonical ending Johnny? Bae over bay forever.
Catchy!
Since it's clearly meant to be from how much better it's made, and since only a complete psychopath would seriously choose the genocide option.
I am a psychopath then.
+ Mocsk if it had been your sibling/parent/love, would you trade them for the bay? Not this guy.

The soundtrack for this game was SO FIRE!
this was awesome :D loved both of your reactions and theories and all the feels. can't wait to see more! +1 subscriber
Take a shot every time they tell Chloe and Rachel to kiss.
that's my brain the whole time watching because I ship them too hard
ohh rachel was the storm
"revenge on blackwell"

Enjoyed watching it! Some scenes are so emotional.
I love watching you two commentate on this one, you both make me laugh and smile loads.

I think it's just an instinctive feeling, to feel as if someone is tenderly "attuned" rather than "practicing" being there (but not actually quite there)."
I've never been so insulated in my entire life.
Thanks Aoife & Johnny!
why not show the choice results at the end? :/
"Where does this thing go!?"
"FUCKTOWN!"
💀💀💀💀💀
Pleeeease, please continue this Let's Play with the other two episodes (and the bonus episode)!!
I played through this episode two days ago and just couldn't stop thinking about it and then I found this video today and it was just perfect! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a Let's Play or any kind of youtube video soo much as I enjoyed this one. Please continue! But when you do, pls don't skip so much of the game. There were so many great things to experience in this game that you guys just left aside, especially on the school yard (Skips band demo, encounter with principle Wells, ...).
+QuiGon Thank you! We actually didn't mean to skip that stuff, but our camera was being a little temperamental. We'll have it sorted for next time :)
QuiGon i explored the school yard and failed to meet Wells xD didnt know he appeared on this episode
You have to go on the theater stage where it says "Don't walk on the stage" and he will come to lecture you ;)
QuiGon thanks will replay the game one of this day to see how it plays out
Eurogamer Thank you for the explanation! I was wondering why you skipped these scenes too. Great video anyways! :)
BLODDY HELL THIS IS AN AMAZING PLAYTHROUGH😍😍😍😍I love u guys and life and strange
'Why is being nice so hard' I feel like this sums up most of my days
sgot1986
Umm… what does that mean?? :3
_feel like it sums up most of my days…_
Ik this is random, but I have to say I appreciate the good quality audio of the gameplay and you guys' voices. My laptop's audio has become shitty over the years which makes it difficult to hear some RUclips videos, mostly gameplays (my headphone jack doesn't work anymore either). Just gotta say I appreciate it.
Feels for Johnny... I don't know whether he's lost his father like I have.
But that car scene, hit my just as much as it hit Johnny.
Omg. I wasn’t able to play this back then. So I played true colors before coming to watch this. And omg seeing Steph texting Chloe has got to be the most surprising thing ever.
2:31:17 I almost peed my pants laughing when he called William ‘dad’ lmao
I've adored all their Life is Strange playthroughs. All tear-jerkers.
Love your play through of this game! Looking forward to episode 2 of your play through! :)
Johnny's response of "Good one, Chloe" to that snowglobe snark is how I feel with a lot of the comments about everything. Too much attempt at edge.
Great walkthrough, you basically made all the opposite choices I made so now my 2nd playthrough can be exactly the same as the first!
Yaaay I've finally found someone who ships them as much as I do
I made the train scene last so long that they were probably in Mexico.
Thank you; that was remarkably good. Never before have I tried so hard to will a train to hit a bump at an opportune moment.
Johnny nerding out over DND is absolutely adorable.
Y'all are hilarious my new favorite RUclipsrs
49:10 I wouldn't talk about my boyfriend while my daughter hates him, I would know it's because of my late husband she hates him or...something else like he's a deadbeat if the situation was the same. Like, all the jokes would more about our actions and other stuffs, would Own up to being a inconsiderate mom and help her love me and people around her.
