I've seen about 30 letsplayers playthrough this game (more than that, actually. I keep a list.), and you guys are two of my absolute favorites. I love how excited you get about Chloe and Rachel and how much you just genuinely appreciate the game. Keep it up! I can't wait for your reactions to episode 3. :)
They keep missing chances to tag things, because they don't explore enough. When RUclipsr's do that on Let's Play LiS videos I find it very frustrating. Although I do agree with you about their reactions to Chloe, Rachel, Wells and _Sergent Asshat!_ I also their love their commentary about LiS in general, I think it is awesome! 😀
But they got 8 out of the 10 tagging options and the Eliot one is especially difficult to get. I would say that's actually pretty good for a blind run.

The improvised portion of the Tempest was just a total masterpiece of a scene (as far as LiS writing goes which unlike some I’ve actually enjoyed). The connection between Chloe and Rachel, the background music, it just all comes together. The pool scene from season 1 is often noted as one of the best moments between Max and Chloe. The same can be said for the Tempest scene as far as Chloe and Rachel are concerned, almost if not just as much as the kiss that can follow. Almost makes you forget how it’ll all end for them...
What I love most about the tempest scene is that Deck Nine could have totally leaned on the comedy angle and just squeezed everything out of that. None of us would have complained and it might have been the funniest scene in BTS (and maybe even S1 too). Instead they flip it on it's head and delivered one of the most heart felt and beautiful moments of the entire franchise. I personally saw Rachel's declaration as platonic but I imagine the AmberPrice-er's hearts just fucking exploded.
Yeh I think they wrote it in such a way that it would still fit into a ‘just friends’ playthrough. Saved the obvious romantic lines and actions for those that choose it in the following scene.

Steph ROCKS. Well Before The Storm in general rocks, but Steph adds so much. A great friend, a fantastic DM for a table top game(hahaha), and her voice is on point, so props to all involved. I want loads more Steph in Ep 3. :)

I genuinely felt Chloe's elation during that kiss scene. It was the same feeling I had with my first girlfriend 10 years ago. I guess this is what it feels like to live vicariously through a video game character. Very good job by the developers indeed.
"Skip is such a well developed and nuanced character" Because you guys skipped talking to him in the first Episode. He would have treated Chloe much more friendly here if you would have talked to him there. Chloe would also have recognized his car on the parking lot (the green one with all the stickers on it) and the radio on the junkyeard would play his song, because Pisshead rulez! ;-)
It surprised me a lot when Skip gave a different dialogue than mine. I didn't know he has alternative lines. Skip's "Fuck 'em, bunch of fascists" was one of my favorite lines of BTS.
I think Joyce isn't as blameless as you're making her out to be. She's aware of Chloe's feelings about David, and instead of taking it slow, and setting boundaries for David's interactions with Chloe, she speeds up her relationship with David.
I lost a lot of my sympathy for Joyce in this episode. She's taking her anger and pain out on Chloe but does so in a subtle and wounding way which outwardly allows her to play the role of selfless martyr. That's also why she's not reining in David or laying down any rules for how he deals with Chloe even though his clueless destructiveness is way out of line.
Nah these 2 got the hate train on David early. You can tell they've never had a step parent as a kid. All I saw from David is a guy trying to get a bratty kid to listen to her mother.
i loved how rachel essentially proposed to chloe while not making it so that the script was so far gone that the play fell apart at the seems............. the whole "say yes!" in the background made it all the better
If there's anything I take away from these particular let's plays it's the much patheticlly belated wish that i had friends like these two (Johnny and Aoife) when i was growing up. Oh well.
Skip is much more developed throughout the game so far if you talk to him in the first episode outside before going into school. Actually a pretty cool guy haha.
50:30 I took an art class with a girl who was right handed, but drew and painted with her left hand. She said it was easier for her to do fluid movements with her left hand, so she only switched back to work on small details and sign her name. The developers probably just made a mistake, but I wonder if the graffiti Chloe did with her left hand was writing, and the right is for drawing.
2:55:34 I love how the “This action will have consequences” indicator at the top left corner popped up right above the shock and giddy surprise that sprung over Johnny’s face like a lightbulb or halo.

I've watched a lot of RUclips videos on this game. You have one of the best reactions to what is happening. She is sincere and pure. It's always nice to see the real emotions of a person. Yeah I love how some of the changes based on your decisions are so subtle you don't even realise your choices affect them until checking with everyone else. That to me is equally valuable as changes you can tell have happened because of your choices.
Holy shit Johnny's "girl with a crush" hand thing after Rachel's finger-guns bit is awesome. Plus you can always see the sad parts coming cause he just gets knifed in the heart.
I'm hoping for an ending that hints that the events of Life Is Strange are not predestined and set in stone but just one possible outcome of many. LiS did allow for the existence of parallel realities and alternate timelines so Before The Storm may not need the grim inevitability and gloomy fatalism of a Greek tragedy.
I actually think, if we look at the metareality as a sort of story in itself- the world/raven/unseen forces arent trying to kill Chloe, they're trying to save her. It tried with Max, and largely failed, and now its going further back because "it" knows it has to save Rachel too.
SkilledLegend At least one option is quite simply, by choosing to actually leave with Rachel in episode 3 because of making choices that allow you to be able to- thus, Rachel never ends up in the dark room
Your reactions are "hella" awesome 😂. But really I appreciate the fact that you take the time to explore the game. There are some things that make the game more enjoyable by doing it.
I'm really conflicted over Joyce's character, you can tell that she really does love Chloe and wants what is best for her, but at the same time keeps putting her new boyfriend over her own daughter, and further conflicted cause that could only be cause David is controlling and manipulating her.
When talking about how Frank is really such a good guy at heart, don't forget that he also happily sells the date rape drugs fuelling Jefferson's little operation, including selling the drugs to Nathan that end up ultimately killing Rachel. There's really no way to justify or excuse that.
You don't sell GHB and not know what it's used for. Frank might not be willfully malicious, but that's a low bar to clear. And either way, ignorance is no excuse.
Have played through Before The Storm three times, but really enjoying watching these videos. Episode 2 is undoubtedly my favourite in the game - there are just so many great scenes. Perhaps the best thing about watching this let's play is seeing how excited you guys get about watching Chloe and Rachel's relationship develop. Chloe in particular is really well written - sassy but vulnerable too in a way you don't see that much in the first game.
BTW she just blurted out her connection with her drug dealer, people the DA is looking for, there's a whole lot of people coming for her, might explain the last scene.

"I'll watch a few minutes of this while I eat lunch and see what they think of BtS" ... 6 hours later I've watched both episode playthroughs - just as well I didn't have any other plans for Sunday! I'll be back to see what you think of episode 3 as soon as I have done my own playthrough. Johnny and Aoife are a great team for this kind of reaction based video - if you haven't seen them already I highly recommend their "Late to the Party" episodes the Theme Hospital one is brilliant.
You know actually, I wonder if you couldn't change the fact that she was expelled. And whatever else, we've spent the entire first game exploring different versions of reality. I've been thinking that maybe this game could give you the possibility of creating another one entirely, one where Rachel AND Chloe lives? Wether it's likely or not does have the advantage or encouraging you the challenge "inevitability" of it all by specifically attempting to break patterns. For instance, instead of drawing the all-seeing-eye in the truck which we KNOW is present in the original life is strange. Draw something else! Or maybe I am wrong about that last detail?
KommanderChopp'ard I've been discussing this alot- LIS is all about possibility, divergence, ect. In a meta sense, I dont think the powers that be are trying to kill Chloe, as we imagined through the first game, but save her. They tried to do so with Max- and failed, largely. Now? They realize they need to save Rachel to save Chloe. The GOAL of both games is to change what happens- a break with the "alpha" timeline that leads to LIS (you can make it to where Chloe is just suspended, change where her and Rachel intended to go (in the original LIS it was LA, here it can be NY or the road instead...) change grafitti, and so many other maybe unimportant things that SHOW that the timeline is maleable.
Mikey getting his arm broken is easily the better outcome, in my opinion. I prefer Mikey over his brother, but Drew got a fucking *college football scholarship* to a Division 1 school. That's a chance to go to the NFL and earn at minimum $320,000 a year; but even if he doesn't make it to the NFL, he'll have a college education for FREE, something that will give him so many opportunities and help out the family in the long run.
a lot pp are piss off knowing that Rachel's going to hand out with frank in LIS, but.., if u pick up the choices of Money, at 2:53:06, chloe mention about franks could be ungry with her for havent done the job, and rachel mention that theyll figure out something. I think that maybe.., a reason thats why she was hanging with frank after is for keep him bussy and far away from chloe.(just a teory), couse we saw how much rachel care of chloe over and over, and cant imagine anything else for why she would end with frank. but also on the Rachel's letters she mention that weird stuff is happening to her. i wonder what would be, or it would be cool if the developers create any story with it, and give us a better ending for our three main characters.
This is the first game I've bought a whole season pass for, but never actually played. Turns out I enjoy watching your playthrough more. Thanks guys, and keep those Let's Play coming. Otherwise I'm going to have to replay the first two episodes myself to know what happens next. :)
oh wow that i love how this game makes EVERY choice matter in big and small details for example i told samantha that she should talk to nathen and he had no problem on stage at all in my playthrough i had no idea the outcome would change like that if you said something different. some one should call telltale and tell them this is how you make chose your own adventure games because i like little details like this it makes me feel like im shaping the story as i play.

Chloe is left handed, but the devs of this game didn't realise it when they started working on the game. They did end up flipping as many animations as they could, but some still show her writing with her right.
it makes sense that the woman in white is Rachel's mom because, if you remember, the missing poster said that Rachel had a tattoo just like the woman's.

3:25:39 I asked Rachael to get a tattoo because I figured that a kiss is fleeting but a tattoo is longer lasting. I didn’t know that it would be a drawing from a marker, a drawing that could wash off. I thought that it would be a tattoo from a tattoo parlor. (I didn’t think about it long enough to realize that it might not be possible for Rachael to get a real tattoo).

Soooo good again, but that was a hell of a cliffhanger. Whistling fireworks began going off here as soon as the epilogue began too, which was a little surreal. Same thing happened as I watched you play Episode 1..

I actually think, if we look at the metareality as a sort of story in itself- the world/raven/unseen forces arent trying to kill Chloe, they're trying to save her. It tried with Max, and largely failed, and now its going further back because "it" knows it has to save Rachel too.
Pretty much, which makes all those decisions that Prime Max made in the various alt-relatives even worse for her other versions.
SkilledLegend At least one option is quite simply, by choosing to actually leave with Rachel in episode 3 because of making choices that allow you to be able to- thus, Rachel never ends up in the dark room

I'm really conflicted over Joyce's character, you can tell that she really does love Chloe and wants what is best for her, but at the same time keeps putting her new boyfriend over her own daughter, and further conflicted cause that could only be cause David is controlling and manipulating her.
When talking about how Frank is really such a good guy at heart, don't forget that he also happily sells the date rape drugs fuelling Jefferson's little operation, including selling the drugs to Nathan that end up ultimately killing Rachel. There's really no way to justify or excuse that.

You don't sell GHB and not know what it's used for. Frank might not be willfully malicious, but that's a low bar to clear. And either way, ignorance is no excuse.
Have played through Before The Storm three times, but really enjoying watching these videos. Episode 2 is undoubtedly my favourite in the game - there are just so many great scenes. Perhaps the best thing about watching this let's play is seeing how excited you guys get about watching Chloe and Rachel's relationship develop. Chloe in particular is really well written - sassy but vulnerable too in a way you don't see that much in the first game.
BTW she just blurted out her connection with her drug dealer, people the DA is looking for, there's a whole lot of people coming for her, might explain the last scene.

You know actually, I wonder if you couldn't change the fact that she was expelled. And whatever else, we've spent the entire first game exploring different versions of reality. I've been thinking that maybe this game could give you the possibility of creating another one entirely, one where Rachel AND Chloe lives? Wether it's likely or not does have the advantage or encouraging you the challenge "inevitability" of it all by specifically attempting to break patterns.
For instance, instead of drawing the all-seeing-eye in the truck which we KNOW is present in the original life is strange. Draw something else! Or maybe I am wrong about that last detail?
KommanderChopp'ard I've been discussing this alot- LIS is all about possibility, divergence, ect. In a meta sense, I dont think the powers that be are trying to kill Chloe, as we imagined through the first game, but save her. They tried to do so with Max- and failed, largely. Now? They realize they need to save Rachel to save Chloe. The GOAL of both games is to change what happens- a break with the "alpha" timeline that leads to LIS (you can make it to where Chloe is just suspended, change where her and Rachel intended to go (in the original LIS it was LA, here it can be NY or the road instead...) change grafitti, and so many other maybe unimportant things that SHOW that the timeline is maleable.
Mikey getting his arm broken is easily the better outcome, in my opinion. I prefer Mikey over his brother, but Drew got a fucking *college football scholarship* to a Division 1 school. That's a chance to go to the NFL and earn at minimum $320,000 a year; but even if he doesn't make it to the NFL, he'll have a college education for FREE, something that will give him so many opportunities and help out the family in the long run.

a lot pp are piss off knowing that Rachel's going to hand out with frank in LIS, but.., if u pick up the choices of Money, at 2:53:06, chloe mention about franks could be ungry with her for havent done the job, and rachel mention that theyll figure out something. I think that maybe.., a reason thats why she was hanging with frank after is for keep him bussy and far away from chloe.(just a teory), couse we saw how much rachel care of chloe over and over, and cant imagine anything else for why she would end with frank.

oh wow that i love how this game makes EVERY choice matter in big and small details for example i told samantha that she should talk to nathen and he had no problem on stage at all in my playthrough i had no idea the outcome would change like that if you said something different. some one should call telltale and tell them this is how you make chose your own adventure games because i like little details like this it makes me feel like im shaping the story as i play.

Chloe is left handed, but the devs of this game didn't realise it when they started working on the game. They did end up flipping as many animations as they could, but some still show her writing with her right.

I didn’t know that it would be a drawing from a marker, a drawing that could wash off. I thought that it would be a tattoo from a tattoo parlor. (I didn’t think about it long enough to realize that it might not be possible for Rachael to get a real tattoo).
