DIY WOODEN LATHE | PART 4 | TOOL BASE AND TOOL REST

- Since I have my new drill press, the old one was standing unused in my workshop. So I decided to make a small wooden lathe out of it. The main parts i used to make this wooden lathe were the motor, the pulleys, the bearings, the belt and the power switch.
In this video I make the Tool Base and the Tool Rest.

YOU HAVE MADE A GREAT LOOKING LATHE
Very nicely done!
Very nice.
I like that's video
Thank you
Have enjoyed these build videos. I particularly like the ease of changing the speed of the lathe with your pully cover housing.
It's complete and seems to work smooth! Congratulations!
Thank you for the work of an artist
Es ist eine tolle Maschine geworden ... 👍🏽
You must be an engineer, this is a fantastic lathe.
Well designed and executed. Great piece of useful machinery.
Superbe realisation. Bravo 👏👏👏👏
Congratulations on a great build!
Really nice series. Your precision is very nice to watch. Well done.
Hi,
Very well done.
Runs smoothly and doesn't wobble.

😊😊😊
Excellent project. congratulations on a great build.
Rubens Augusto from Brasil.
Obra prima. Parabéns por disseminar seus maravilhosos projetos.
Merci pour les plans
absolutely brilliant videos, keep up the great work and videos
very good job, thanks you for sharing
to say a great job is a understatement you have a great brain, I love watching your videos, I saw your video about I MADE A CORONA GADGET I was touched by your story i hope you and your family are will , i'm sure your future will be OK with the skills you have, good luck to you and your family and stay safe.
Fantastic job, dude! Really well done! 😃
Simply Wonderful Machine. My respects for your great job! 😏 Greatings from Chile...
top arbeit 👍🏻👍🏻
👍

HARD WORK AND AWESOME RESULT
Thank you
Sei super!!
Wtf that was awesome 👍☝️☝️
Génial se tour à bois
Klasse Arbeit. Ich ziehe meinen Hut.
Ich spreche kein Deutsch, aber deine Worte ''me le ricordo dai lontani tempi della scuola''
great, great job. chapeau
I thought your showing to camera was much better than your last video. Maybe just a coincidence rather than a reaction to by previous comment but none the less many thanks. Keep up the good videos.
I've enjoyed your lathe videos and may I congratulate you on your Engliish.👍👍👍
WTF What about his English??? It's about a wood lathe, not about his bloody English! I'm sure if he thought his English couldn't be understood, he would have left out all of his commentary like you see in other peoples videos... Trippa!!!
Colaaah who are you the UTUBE police,it's a complement nothing more. I enjoy the videos he does makes.
Great design and build. 1 question, can the tool rest go towards the tailstock far enough to turn the very end of the piece? Thanks for your great channel.
Hi, congratulations on a very attentive and beautiful work.
What is the ideal rpm range for wood applications? I want to make a little more autonomous lathe. horizontal and vertical axis with stepper motor .. The insert (z axis) will be controlled with a motor. I am a stranger to the world of wood. Your advice for choosing the right engine is very valuable.
Really cool project. What I really would like to know how it performs and if you are still using it for wood turning or if it had too many flaws to be actually useful...?
I am thinking of building one for myself - I have an old drill press motor at hand and am thinking of a good use for it 😉
Make a second toolrest that's 150% or 200% wider. Also a flat star knob for the toolrest - lathe bed clamping arrangement.
17:00 the piece loses focus on the tailstock due to lack of bearing, the whole project very good congratulations ....
Is a clamping headstock in the future for this? New subscriber! I love the videos!
👍
👍 👍 👍
yes it verks really vell
I love this and I’m going to try and start building one in the next week or so. I have one question. I planed on having my headstock designed to spin with the wood. Does the wood not loosen, when the point is not turning? Looks like it will bore into the wood enough to make it loose? Awesome video!!!
In his build, he has a headstock, with a spinning shaft attached to a motor. At the end of the spinning shaft is a nut with four spikes, fixed in place. These four spikes, are what cause the wood to turn. The tailstock will have a spinning point, called a "live center" which presses the wood at all times against those four spikes so there is no way they can loosen. If somehow they do loosen, then the wood comes flying off the lathe and can kill you. So if you don't know exactly what you are doing, don't attempt this build. A sloppy build could be fatal.
Very nice build and attention to detail. I see you are afllicted with OCD as myself. Do you really think you will not notice your lathe is running before you open your belt cover. You must really have a love of gadgets. Not a bad thing at all.
only some people are capable to do so for the ultimate.
this is really a great interesting built...i went to your website to purchase the plans but cannot find them. Can you please advise how I can buy them.
Awesome do you have plans of this lathe
Dear friend Amazing work Ask if there are any plans in thanks
Not yet. I haven't find the time to make all plans yet because of my job search, the illness of my father.......
Hi Great project well made but you could wrap the tail stock with 2 or 3 metal bands like they use on wooden beer barrels.
There is any plane avaible?
Can I have the link to make a sliding saw bed? Thanks
Can you provide meterials list
its all done...now he asks himself , why.....main components are made out of metal....i couldnt even watch it in real time , its a lathe bed really .6 am going back to sleep, but before that ,im making me a breakfast
