- How to make a beautiful wooden bowl without using a Lathe or a CNC machine.
I wanted to make a beautiful wooden bowl without using a lathe (as I don't have one), or a CNC machine.
I also wanted to try and minimise the amount of wastage generated and use only the tools that can be found in most woodworkers workshops.
The detailed plans can be found on our super new Etsy store:
www.etsy.com/uk/listing/14011...
I'll pop a link here to the Circle cutting jig (mentioned in the video) as soon as its released.

Really it is one of the best ways to save wood, and to decrease waste!! Well done 👏
I just finished building the handrail on my deck ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z and used this great little router to clean up the top rail before the final sanding and stain. It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn't seem to make it top heavy and I'm a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use...................... CORDLESS only way to go !!
Ignore the negative comments. I don’t know why people just can’t move on if the content isn’t what they are looking for. You do have a nice workshop and yes you have a lot of tools. However it’s also a well thought out and well presented instructional video. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for and I will be giving this a try. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Thanks Chris, yes I do have lots of lovely, wonderful tools, I love tools, who doesn't? 👍👍
Love your circle cutting jig. Nice project -- I'd like to try this one myself.
Well done sir. I have added this to my list of things that I want to make when I have time. I wish that people with negative comments will think twice before sharing. It is so unnecessary.
Well said!
Great bowl! I like the jig you used.
I like the way you take time it’s nice work and safe
Thank you! Great piece.
Nice job! I'm looking forward to the circle cutting jig.
Working on it. 👍
Clever lateral thinking with using the router. Thanks!
Absolutely wonderful.
Thanks Steve. 👍
Nice work great job!
Just came across your site great job I plan on getting the plans I want to try this 🤙🏼
Beautiful bowl .
Looks great! 👍
Absolutly beautifull,im definitly following you! 😀👍🏻
Gra, absolutely stunning and beautiful bowl..... great video :-)
Thank you.
Hi Graham
Brilliant idea, I will definitely have a bash at this, heading over to etsy for plans, as always thanks for all the work bringing these fab videos
David
Hi David, thank you. 👍
Very nice tips and jig! Tnks!
That came out great!
Thanks Nathan 👍
Advantages with this design, no endgrain, beautiful 360° of popped edge grain. And minimal wasteage!
Very nice video! Was just dusting off my router to make a picture frame! Going to subscribe to see your tips!
Thank you. 👍
Nice job 👍
Thanks 👍
I love this video. I’ve made several router cut bowls but there is a huge waste of material that way. Could you please point me toward the plans you mentioned. Great work, your help is much appreciated!
Graham, received both sets of plans. Now, I need to clear some space & rearrange some projects so I’m ready when I get the jig hardware.
I’m thinking the first one will be out of pine, as a learning bowl.
Thanks for your videos, your knowledge, help & sharing this with the community.
Thank you James, hope the bowl making goes well. let me know. 👍👍
Awesome!!!
Thanks!! 👍
Hmm, though it was gonna be a simple drill jig to make a small lathe and turn a bowl that way. Man, that’s some top line equipment used for a bowl.
love it
Cool and impressive, but lathe turned is my preference
excellent
Thanks Jim. 👍
Minimum tools? Which one didn’t you use? Nice piece though!
Muito bom show de bola 👏
This is a great looking bowl, ash really does pop! The jig is ingenious. Not a criticism, it would be a bit more work: inset the bottom in a rebate so the seam doesn’t show on the side, add one more layer so you have three even layers. I wonder what claro walnut or zebra wood would look like?
Graham, Thank you for the clear instructions in the Etsy file. I am from Canada but do not have metric guide bushings. I am trying to figure out how to convert the circle diameter dimensions for use with Imperial dimension guide bushings (3/4" OD 21/32" ID) and 1/2" router bit. I do not have a 1/2" router bit with a top bearing. What wall thickness is the bowl when you use the 278 mm diameter outer wall jig and 251 mm diameter inner wall jig? Based on the description the outside diameter of the bowl is 278mm. Is this correct? Mark
Hi Mark, I'll measure a bowl and let you know. 👍
8:18 epic!
😁
Great job it looks beautiful when I go to Etsy for the plans what do I ask for
Hi Alfred, thank you. 👍The link is in the description, it will take you directly to the page.
Try using a hose clamp ehen uou glue up your pcs.
Great video, I don't know if you said what kind of wood you used and I missed it. What kind of wood did you use to make this bowl?
Hi Jack, that was Ash, if memory serves. 👍
Thank you so much @@GTWoodshop

Bowled over
Ha! 😂
What money would you get for it? Really nice and very simplistic.
The joy is in the journey
@@TheWendyJohnson For pleasure rather than profit.
How do you match align the ends 1st & 8th piece? Or just rely on bland grain matching?
A little thought when you choose the piece may help aleviate the issue, oh and some hope. 😁😁
What van you sell it for? Good work.
They've been selling for £65. 👍
What are the dimensions of this product?
We save crap wood to make thing money wortg .Tks
Where are the plans how to make this bowl? There is a whole store, no plans. Good job
Hi, here is the direct link: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1401136935/full-detailed-plans-listing-every-step?ref=listings_manager_grid
Have a issue I bought your download and I never received anything from you
Hi David, sorry about that, let me take a look for you.
Hi David,
Etsy says the plans have not been downloaded yet. When you purchased the plans Etsy would have sent a confirmation email, within that email there should be a link for you to click and download the plans. I'll send you a copy anyway. 👍
Plans sent, should be in your Inbox David.
Title should have been, make this bowl with a track saw, table saw, planer, fancy woodworking table, miter saw, plunge router, lots of different types of clamps, and a palm router.
No track saws were used in the making of this bowl. 👍
@@GTWoodshop Uhh sir, you literally show a track saw cutting MDF in the first frame after your logo disappears, it's a Festool most likely.
I'm sure you can do this with your Ryobi tools.
@@idothings100 it’s a catchy and accurate name, you should write for these guys. 😂
Geesh! Play nice. This bowl can absolutely be made using only a jigsaw, sander and router

Thank you. 😢
