So cool to see the familiar names. PD cunningjam in the prelude! Tax Harvey. These guys all became some of the greats in SCCA touring cars. I was 18 when they had this race. It wouldn’t be until 2 years later when I learned how much fun it would be to take a race car wound this track. Ahh the good old days.
I love 3rd gen Camaros, but I had to laugh when both of the entries here kept sliding off the track. Especially that poor green Camaro. What the hell. Slides off once. Slides off again. Driver gives up. Tow truck comes and throws it off the track a 3rd time, wrecking it. Just.. LOL. Then both the Corvettes drop out of contention with mechanical problems. And Chevy is running commercials to hype up the new 4th gen Camaro, including one that airs immediately after the race is over and everybody is snickering. Bad day for sure. But great fun to watch. Racing was better like this, when competition pushed everything to it's honest limits and maxing out the car's potential was more important than reliability. Things could and would break, nobody tried to hide it, and the manufacturers didn't have enough control of the sport to prevent it.
This is back when not even nascar sucked. Great old days
The year i got my novice license on that track!
