    Racing in the rain is very different than in the dry. It requires different driving style, and a different setup on the kart.
    Chris Mann - Western Canadian Karting Club winner takes us through some suggestions you may not have heard about.
    Tip 1 - Increase front ride height
    Tip 2 - Increase front caster
    Tip 3 - Loosen the seat
    This video was filmed at Chilliwack BC, on a 32mm CRG Road Rebel Chassis using a Rotax Max Evo 125 motor.

    These tips are great if you have the time to do them. If you need to do wet race prep in a hurry, just widen your fronts as much as possible and narrow your rears slightly. Also you can loosen your seat stays or remove them, time permitting. Depending on compound run your tyres at 20 to 30 psi. Arrow X4/5 X30. TAG 125 Open Heavy is the class I run here in the Land Down Under.

      Another big tip for the wet. Stay off the normal racing line as much as possible! All that rubber on the track is your friend in the dry but it's your biggest enemy in the wet. If in doubt just drive in the center of the track all the way round.

    You can also increase seat height

      Yes, excellent suggestion. I hate moving the seat personally, but for those willing to drill the extra holes it can certainly help!

      @@brentkadler2870 Put a towel or pillow in the seat, it will raise you without the hassle.

    Could you tell me what are the setup tips for the big track ? Thank you.

      Setup Tip #1. Go to the fastest guy on the track, and ask him for his setup!
      Setup Tip #2. Add at least 1-2 teeth to your sprocket as compared to the fast guy. Trust me.
      Setup Tip #3. Don't change a darn thing afterward for a loooooong time.

    Why are you running a 32mm for rotax senior?

    • @brentkadler2870

      Rotax Master. Part of the fat boy class. We weigh in at 395lbs. You are right. 32mm is big for a senior, but it's just right for the master class.

      That is interesting. Normally you would want to change to stiffer axel when more grip is needed.

    • @TristanDeshaies
      @TristanDeshaies Год назад +1

      @@pacoaucco9592 doesn’t a softer axle allow for more flex, and more grip..?

    • @pacoaucco9592
      @pacoaucco9592 Год назад

      @@TristanDeshaies Here is an extract from OTK setup guide: "The harder axle H or HH can be used if the track condition is slippery in order to improve the grip of the kart. Then the harder axle will deliver additional grip compared to the soft axle. But the use of
      type H or HH can result in a longer time for the necessary grip to arrive than with type U or Q. Especially if the track temperature is low. For KZ categories when the track is slippery and rear grip is needed the stiffer axle can be used". Harder axle forces the weight to the outer tyre and it bites more than with softer axle. Same principle as with long wheel hubs. It makes axle+hub package stiffer.
      Of course this is not black and white thing, the overall situation and setup is what matters. You might have setup and conditions where soft axle is better/faster than stiffer axle.
