    My technique for braking is brake as late as possible and keep the wheel straight. Allowing the tyres to use all of the limited grip they have in slowing down. This would also allow me to go deeper into the corner = opening up the corner on the wet line. Then turning in I stamp on the brakes locking the rears and straight off again which brings the front around and then I can power out the corner

    As someone who’s been sim racing for 5 years and just got into karting i was struggling however this upset me because i know advanced techniques to set the fast times in a car. However I didn’t know rental karts were so different, since watching your videos, reading your ebook and taking notes i’ve gained over 11 seconds on my lap time at my home track. Just by not taking the geometrical racing line, not braking nearly as much and getting on the power WAY earlier than what i thought was possible. Low horsepower karting lines were the key. Just wanted to say thank you!

      Thank you for your feedback! I'm really happy to hear about the progress you've made! The key is to practice regularly. Also try to join any local karting competitions your track might be hosting to get experience with racing against quick drivers.

    I've never race in the wet track, but I tell you my experience on ice track. So the first what I do is engine braking, it's helps me to stabilise my kart. And also I making my own "marks" with my peripheral vision. So I'm just trying to remember the most dangerous zones and then I making new braking points.

    I’ve just come from karting on a wet track, it was very fun, but there was a tricky section consisting on a wide fast corner followed by two hairpins, normally I would take that first right hander nice and wide so I could do the S flat out on a straight line, but today I’ve found myself going straight to the tire barrier every single lap, I’m absolutely baffled, pleased, but baffled

    At my first time in the wet, it was on a track I've never raced on and with locals, the first two laps were in the dry then it quickly got very wet, the locals never got that before and most got off track, I knew that the grip would be outside the racing line so I usually didn't got beyond the middle of the track. As for cornering, I quickly noticed that if I let my car on understeer like I do on dry, I'm slow as hell so I started getting into slight oversteers to make the car rotate and that made me a shit ton faster than the locals

    Other techinque maninly on fast, big wide tracks to hook te inside wheels inside the kerb, which will turn in the gokart. this works with high kerbs. You have to drive to the beginning to the kerb very slow and target the inside with the inside front wheel and left the brake out before it reaches the kerb.

    Last rain race let a guy pass me on dry line !! He spun in front of me !! One of best races was a spin and win . P1 to P4 on lap one . Mid race 2nd and 3rd did synchronised spins then leader threw it away on last turn of last lap ! As a track marshal one guy did the dry tire gamble in a Rotax . Spun twice and when dry line showed up he was on fire ! On last lap his front tires beside winners rear tires 🤯🏁

    I jut went to a wet track today, and the tactic i used(i'm completely inexperienced to karting so yes it's a bit suspiscious) i slam the brakes around the apex to turn around as i usually take the corners too fast(inexperience karting yes) and use that to spin out the rear to go for the corner

  • @rsgreek
    @rsgreek Год назад +1

    I've found it working better when I'm braking earlier, much earlier than i'm able to point the kart into the inside of the corner. It helps avoiding driving straight with the wheels turned(as in your video). I mean not going into the turn from then inside as your opponent in video does, but going from the outside -> strong slow down to the speed that will grant me ability to change direction of the kart without moving straight with the turned wheels -> and after that on a straight wheels(steering wheel) i'm going full possible throttle.
    This allows me to pass my opponents from the inside while they are dfrifting on the outside edges of the turn(managed to get up from 9th to 1st in one lap **track distance is 1200m**).
    at 3:00 when you show how you overtake the other guy.. you're actually missing the APEX... not hitting it at all, but in the next corner you're doing it the way, I'm usually do.
    So the main thing I'm trying to do is to break earlier => point to the direction to overtake(etiher inner or outer part of the turn, depending on the guy in front) => axcellerating earlier to get higher speed

    • @rsgreek
      @rsgreek Год назад +1

      also this works in rental karts if you're lucky to get a kart with bold front wheels =) and are missing each turn

    • @LaggerSVK
      @LaggerSVK 9 месяцев назад

      I have only limited experience on wet but I mean the apex is place with the most rubber so you want to be quite straight when going over it. Thats why I think going deep into the corner with late entry, turn sharp (late apex) and then try to accelerate out without much turning to gain speed.

    My tip for wet races is to wear clothing that doesn't absorb water. All of the extra water weight adds up in a hurry.

    My braking in wet is probably the safest option while actually being fast, brake much earlier but low pressure (like 10 percent) and gradually increase till you start rotating. As soon as you rotate kick the brake pedal to max and prey on your religion you don't spin😂

    Do i brake after when i turn or before i turn when go karting in the wet?

    • @AdelWhips
      @AdelWhips 11 месяцев назад

      Also how long do i wait to go back on the accelerator as well when it is raining? because you said going on the accelerator to early will make you have wheelspin.

    • @kartingtips
      @kartingtips  11 месяцев назад +1

      It depends on how wet the track is, but I instinctively brake and turn at the same time in the wet.

    • @kartingtips
      @kartingtips  11 месяцев назад +1

      If you put your foot 100% on the accelerator in one go, that’s when you will get wheel spin. In the wet you need to feather the accelerator. That means after your kart is slowed down enough for the corner, gradually get back accelerator slowing increasing pressure and by the time you exit the corner, that’s when your foot should be 100% on the accelerator pedal.
