It’s just about confidence. I started my first junior rotax test like this but by the end of the day I was up with the fastest guys. Keep it up and you’ll get there
I know rental 125 rotax, isn't same as the junior rotax, but it is fast, first session with it trying to find the limit i spun, without any type of damage fortunatly, ending the session with a good qualy pace but was not enough, thanks to that mistake, i knew the limit of the kart and the 4th session next week, i set the fastest time in 2023 at misanino kart circuit in my category, with at least 40% tyre life, no grip, and the track was cold and i am a heavy guy. What im actually trying to say is never stop working hard.

People don't realise how hard it is to deal with the power of these karts. This video shows how it is when you first start and anyone commenting negatively simply has never been in this position.
These things are such beasts. I almost have my shifter back together. I only got to run it a few times before it seized up and now I’m rebuilding it. I think your problems in the beginning may have been from taking it too easy to feel the kart out and not getting heat in the tires. In my first few sessions if I had issues it was in the first lap or two. After that I was golden.
I'm going to make my shifter kart run aswell someday, hoping ill get it going this autumn. It's a 1995 Swiss Hutless with front and rear brakes and it has a 1986 CR125 in it. (Definitely not low on power despite the year) Last time it was run hard was when I was 11-12years old in 1999 which sounds kind of wild cause I remember it so well. I couldnt reach the pedals so I had a pillow behind my back. I even got to try a YZ250 shifter kart with full fairings at the same age and man.. That thing was beyond nuts. I weighed something like 40kg and was about 157cm tall 😂 That thing almost did wheelies out of corners into the backstraight..
@@eamh2002 I bet the 250 was overwhelming. I’ve been on dirt bikes and quads my whole life and when people said 125 shifters were fast as hell I didn’t think they could be. A 125 dirtbike felt sluggish and boring to me. Man was I wrong. I had been racing autocross for a while and generally top ten’d the overall and usually placed in my class in the regionals. Despite that the kart was still complete sensory overload lol. I can’t wait to get back on it it was exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll def have to put some seat time in to be able to squeeze the lap times out of it. I’m just waiting on my new rad and fuel pump to come in and she’ll be back in action.
@@elemento1991 Haha yeah I had a loose helmet cause I was a kid and we didnt have my size so the whole thing lifted up on the straights with jaw piece on my eye level so couldnt even see anything :D If you accidentally spun the kart it would keep on running and do a burnout on 3rd gear, just spun it back around and keep going without stalling. I bet I would be as scared to drive it now as back then. I can confirm a 1000cc sportsbike isnt as fun or out of control feeling as a shifter kart. Mine needs a connecting rod and top end bearing and maybe some TLC btw. Just tight on my budget with house stuff and bills.
@@eamh2002 Same here that’s just the adult life lol. I got mine used and unfortunately it seized up on me my third time at the track with it. I didn’t want to just rebuild the top end and risk the crank having been knocked out of balance so it just sat. I finally got some money set aside and got the motor rebuilt after 3-4 years. I had a 600 street bike for a while and I agree the shifter is a way wilder ride. It’s the cornering forces for me. I was hitting 1.6G on some old practice tires. I have a fresh set of Hoosiers to swap on once it’s broke in. People say they get up close to 2.5.
Great attempt! People who have never tried 2 strokes karting have no idea, taming a 100 kg/50 HP beast is not funny at all at the beginning. You have all the respect and courage possible. It's overwhelming I know but you did great and you will do better. Keep it up the hard work.
Yeah, that’s tough man. I don’t know how cold it was out there, but the shifter carts are like a light switch. I got beat up pretty bad when I went out on the track with mine but it’s really short twisty corners which makes it really hard with the shifter cart.
I still remember my first ever race in ICC, now KZ, I jumped up from 100cc racing into the ICC and everyone said I was mad and needed to do a lot of time practising in the ICC, but I finished 2nd in my first ever race, then many other good results after that, actually I did better in ICC than 100cc, it kind of suited my driving style

Never tried a 2 stroke kart but many dirt bikes. I can imagine it's very easy to spin on the power band given the hit of power! Cold tyres can't help! That's gotta be scary with all the other karts around you!
Huge improvement by the time he gets to the end tho. Like massively genius better Sick kart. Maybe that why its so loose its a charles kart. eg. French gp

I bought my first one already, and I found a place, actually is a old gokart track, a small but quite hard, but I would say I can handle the kart much better then in the video. I know that was the first time. I’ll upload a video in the next few days about the practice. :)

Is it purely cold tyres or "OLD" tyres? Old, unused tyres can go rock-hard (useless) - I got the feeling that even cold (fresh) tyres would do better .. considering your 1st outing, perhaps wrong gear through the corners also contributed (???) or maybe tyre pressures too high/low. Anyway, cut yourself some slack. Show us a recent video - if you haven't improved, then we'll all dump sh*t on yer. Good luck.
They were cold tyres, and I knew I can warm them up if I push it hardly, but I couldn’t handle it, cause literally that was my first time ever that I’m sitting in the 2T 125cc race kart. Let’s compare the that 1st session, and take a look on the 3rd session, you’ll see a difference. I uploaded a video few weeks ago about the second time, but that’s a different chassis, which is few years older, then in the first video, need some time in this month to check everything, and use different setups, but I’ll be out on 31st of this month, and I’m excited how can I handle it around 0 celsius😁
100 percent too much air in the back tires. It shouldn't be this loosie goosie.. hes not loosing it under power all the time. Its just bad. No rear grip. Its a pro set up for a beginner. And he cant get heat in the tires. Which will make the pressure go even higher. Get a new mechanic
Everything was definitely good, also the rear tires as well. The actual problem was, is my experience, because if you don’t warm up the tyres properly, then you’ll not get grip. I had 3 sessions on that day, on these tyres and on the 3rd session everything was absolutely fine as I could handle the kart much better then in the 1st one. 😊
I did, have a look the 3rd session on my channel. But from that time, happened a lot, bought my first one and I started the practice one of the old gokart track. I’ll upload a new video in the next few days.

I remember my first time in a 125cc kz shifter kart. It's a handful keep it up 👏🏼👍🏼! 2stroke engines have so much top end power that it's amazing.

Like CurBass said the clutch is only to start. Its enough to just lift off the throttle for a split second to shift gears

It doesn't take long to feel the curves smoothly. But I think you should warm up the engine longer like a minute or 2. I like your courage. :)
