Roles: The Grand Inquisit is one of the three main antagonists (alongside Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn) from 2014-2018 Star Wars: Rebels serving as the main antagonist for season 1, a posthumous antagonist for the remainder of the series.
In rebels, the Grand Inquisitor was this long faced, eerie, terrifying, and cunning presence. Simon Kinberg (producer for Rebels) describes the inquisitor: "He felt real and human, yet also a little creaturely and terrifying and like he could be part of a nightmare" I don't get any of that from this round, baby faced inquisitor with face paint. I find absolutely nothing intimidating about the character whatsoever. When the grand inquisitor first showed up in rebels, you thought "oh shit the rebels are in trouble". In Obi-Wan, this dude walked in and I laughed when I saw his face
Grand Inquisitor: Hey Darth Maul, can your lightsaber do this?! *Spins it* Darth Maul: *turns around and spin his lightsaber with just one hand while taking a drink* No.... Grand Inquisitor: *Turns his back and muffled in annoyance* Freaking smartass...
Never cared much for rebels but as a fencer I appreciate his dueling style. It's very clearly refined and actually resembles real sword fighting in some ways. Inquisitor: "Your master will die, your friend will die, and everything you hoped for..." Me: "...will die?" Inquisitor: "... will be lost." Me: "Goddammit!"
I legitimately don't know why actors try adding their own touch to already established characters. I mean they're not spin-offs, they're literally the same Canon storyline so consistency matters more than anything. @@veer0522 Yeah, but that's not what he's saying. Remember that Ewan studied his source material *carefully* before putting his own spin on the character. This is why his Kenobi is believably the same person that Alec played. The Grand Inquisitor, on the other hand...

Regardless of this show’s issues, the inquisitor’s lightsaber ignition is incredible

What do you mean issues? Rebels was one of the best things to come out of Disney.
@@remordreemurr The show is underrated.
@@hermos3602 Literally almost very animated SW show is best content. Probably because Dave Filoni is heavily involved.
Honestly his final fight with Kanen is still one of the best ones in the series. It's so high stakes, and really good choreography. Also some good dialogue. Rebels has really grown on me lately and I appreciate it more and more for what it is.
The Grand Inquisitor had so much potential! When he died, I felt like he's going to return anyway, as his force can do it, like Maul did and stayed alive after a fall.
Vader turned him into a spirit in the comics.
@@backtothefutureman1 Yeaah just checked it again today, and still trapped inside a jedi temple I believe.
@@noahliasam7407 I just wish it was in a tv show instead if a comic as not everyone reads the comics.
@@backtothefutureman1 same! :)
@@noahliasam7407 they really could’ve made an animated show for Luke between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi after rebels instead of Resistance.
I really enjoyed his appearances in both the comics and the show. Pretty much the only new Inquisitor I liked. I really hope they bring more appearances of him in the comics. Or, maybe in the Kenobi series.
well he's the only one with any real kind of small but more then the rest of them character development and a good enough backstory
They just confirmed him for the Kenobi show! Different actor though but still exiting!
Boy do I have news for you...
It’s kinda funny that they are bringing him back but just way more inflated. Like they didn’t even need to make his face any longer they could’ve just shaved the actors head and put the tattoos on but they still decided to make his face have a wider width
You have gained your wish
The Kenobi show did him so dirty
3:15
The grand inquisitor felt like he was a real threat in Rebels and now in the Kenobi series (first 2 episodes) he feels useless and not that threatening, what's worse is that he was a temple guard once and hunted down Jedi but gets stabbed in the gut like a chump by his subordinate like it was a piece of cake.
He’s still alive, there species has 2 stomachs I’m positive he’ll get revenge later
His actor in Kenobi didn't bother to watch or study the Grand Inquisitor's charater in Rebels. It explains why in Kenobi he feels so different.
@@FieldMarshalYT yeah in Kenobi it feels like they were going for more of a Patient calculating Villian. He gives off more Tarkin Vibes than Inquisitor
@@FieldMarshalYT Smh that’s disney for you like why cast someone that won’t read up n watch content of an established character

Excluding his last moments, the Grand Inquisitor actually made the spinning lightsaber look cool.

When first watching Rebels, him saying: " I am the inquisitor" made me think he was the only one.

8:12 I’m sorry but those facial expressions the Grand Inquisitor makes during the duel are hilarious. 😂
at 11:22 kanan kicks him in the stomach and stuns him for a short second. Obviously when they made rebels it meant nothing but now after watching kenobi we can assume that kanan got him right in the stab wound from Reva, which is why it hurt more than usual.

Easily the best Rebels villain.
Thrawn? Maul? Kallus?
Maul was portrayed better in TCW. Kallus is overrated. Thrawn is also great, but I prefer the Grand Inquisitor.
Personally enjoy Thrawn a lot more but Grand Inquisitor is a cool villain, really enjoyed making this vid

Cant wait to see the grand inquisitor as big chungus in the kenobi show
Roles: The Grand Inquisit is one of the three main antagonists (alongside Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn) from 2014-2018 Star Wars: Rebels serving as the main antagonist for season 1, a posthumous antagonist for the remainder of the series.
In rebels, the Grand Inquisitor was this long faced, eerie, terrifying, and cunning presence. Simon Kinberg (producer for Rebels) describes the inquisitor: "He felt real and human, yet also a little creaturely and terrifying and like he could be part of a nightmare"
I don't get any of that from this round, baby faced inquisitor with face paint. I find absolutely nothing intimidating about the character whatsoever.
When the grand inquisitor first showed up in rebels, you thought "oh shit the rebels are in trouble". In Obi-Wan, this dude walked in and I laughed when I saw his face
2:43 - Likely the best usage of the spinning lightsaber. Imagine being chased by a large glowing blender blade, controlled by a force user with ease.
Grand Inquisitor: Hey Darth Maul, can your lightsaber do this?! *Spins it*
Darth Maul: *turns around and spin his lightsaber with just one hand while taking a drink* No....
Grand Inquisitor: *Turns his back and muffled in annoyance* Freaking smartass...
Never cared much for rebels but as a fencer I appreciate his dueling style. It's very clearly refined and actually resembles real sword fighting in some ways. I think I saw a fully fleshed out parry and riposte at one point lol. Normal light saber fighting is dandy but I appreciate those little details
If only Isaac could have cleaned his agenda, he would have been the one finally using the inquisitor's lightsaber as he wanted.
What was his agenda?

Apparently he intentionally avoided Rebels to make his own version of the character.
@@hermos3602 and he made it shit
I legitimately don't know why actors try adding their own touch to already established characters. I mean they're not spin-offs, they're literally the same Canon storyline so consistency matters more than anything. Imagine if the actors for Tarkin in the show tried adding their own touch to the iconic character. I'm so grateful they actually took the time to emulate Peter Cushing accent.
@@fornax5798 what???? You need to put your own spin on some characters like ewan did as kenobi if he didnt he would just be really boring
@@veer0522 Yeah, but that's not what he's saying. Remember that Ewan studied his source material *carefully* before putting his own spin on the character. This is why his Kenobi is believably the same person that Alec played.

As soon as he started fighting with Dooku’s signature style, I loved this guy.

Mannnnnnn they really dropped the ball with the villans on this show. We go from the top inquisitor in the empire to (awesome) to a pair of inferior inquisitors that don't pose a threat. To Thrawn which was done well but falls victim to the childish nature of the show to... a governor and a short alien assassin
