    A lot of people see the features, and their imagination goes to the moon. You start adding more and more depth to Housing. You start to build up the Raid to be more and better than what we had before. That is not a given. Based on what Anet has been delivering, not just with SOTO, but for the last like 3 to 4 years, it will not have the depth that people dream of with wide eyes and rose-tinted glasses. What if Homestead is just one or twoo wooden boxes with 15 possible decoration items in total? And half of it is in the gemstore. And all of it is generic. Noning is integrated with wardrobe, or the story or achievements. It's just what you get in JW expansion. And they won't come back to it later. Would that still be woth the hype? No? Tough. You have already paid upfront. The fact that criticism of SOTO is being drown out by JW hype is a huge red flag for this system. And I hate that the conversation has shifted dramaticaly. It started with "we will see if this system is worth it when all of SOTO is released", but now suddenly "JW is what's important cause they figured out their production pipeline and blah blah". Meanwhile SOTOs second half was mediocre at best, but no one will be holding Anet responsible for delivering that since everybody already moved on to JW. Sigh.

      "You start to build up the Raid to be more and better than what we had before." Literally none of us did that, in fact I spent a lengthy amount of time trying to temper peoples' expectations of the raid detail vis a vis old raids.

      @NexusNoxCS Месяц назад

      @@NikeonaBike the "you" was more generic in meaning, directed at the community and fanbase at large and not anyone specific. Perhaps, I was less clear than I wanted in my exhasperation with the public conversation and mindset around JW and SOTO. It was more of a general statement of frustration. Sorry if it came over like I was speaking about the hosts, I was not.

    • @ZanesZygot
      @ZanesZygot Месяц назад

      What is important is laying out a good foundation for those systems rather than expecting them to be all phenomenal right out of the box. It's unprecendent for a mmo to release a new housing system so late like this so it's weird to know what to expect. It won't have the same depth and amount of customization as other games that are on the market with them since release.
      I just want to be a comfy system and that works fine. People expecting it to be almost like a new lounge with things you can farm all over the game since day 1 are expecting way too much.

    • @AATproducer
      @AATproducer 19 дней назад

      Well, what are do you think now after the homestead review from PC gamers? I am asking you this to say "see, you were wrong, ha" because I think you are partly correct. Soto had definitely a few letdowns and we shouldn't put our expectations so high. But 1. Do really see how the expansions will be the second one is much more important than the first. Working in production myself you can create a much better product, once you figure out the process. Also I think Soto, retrospected also had good points. Cerus strike is fantastic, I really enjoy convergences and I love the obsidian armor. Also the weapon master opened up a bunch of new builds. The Soto new weapons were not the best but now all of them are at least useable and a lot of classes got weapons which they really need and which are also great: warrior staff, guardian pistols, ranger maces, Mesmer rifle and maybe thief axes. And the others are at least an option if you want to use them. They now delivered on homesteads and a lot of spears look good. (Animation wise they are all great). If the raids are also good, it will be a really really good expansion

    They could also play around with different spear types with a selection window i.e, spears that burn/poison/ stun for 2 seconds or cripple.

      It's not an encounter issue, it's a balance issue. Virt is 1200 range, massive AOE, insane self sustain, mega utility and incredible defensive power with distort.
      It's the safest, easiest option to use on cerus. Deadeye is actually superior as a DPS and experienced groups run it on reclears or for embodiment of sin, it wouldn't even be bad on progression really it's just that not many people bother to learn it.

Melee builds should do more dps or have better utility, but that's almost never the case in GW2. It's a balance issue. Ranged is STRICTLY (always) better than melee in an objective sense, so there has to be a tradeoff in terms of either DPS or utility.

    I love Lara and understand her perspective on it, but I think Emi nailed the problem with making Thief spear a support weapon. It's just bad for the players and bad thematically. Healing + Spear + Thief is nonsensical.
    Scepter is the support weapon. Thief does not need 2 support weapons. Anet should fix that weapon if they want thief to be a viable defensive support class. Single target ally targeting is horrible even when there's a splash radius.
    This brings me to my actual problem with all of this:
    Most thief players do not want to be a healer - this is why they created a thief character and not a thematically supportive profession. Every conceivable type of build does not need to be possible for every class. The only profession that has no weapon skill cooldowns is capable of giving group alacrity - in what world does that thematically make sense?
    GW2 professions hardly have a focus at this point when they are widely all capable of the same things, just in arbitrarily different ways. You can foster build diversity without making every class a jack-of-all-trades. Isn't it kind of weird that armor weight classes have no impact on the builds these professions run? Every light armor profession is viable as a damage sponge at this point. It's options for the sake of options

    Speaking of bugged content... I mean, not bugged anymore, but the TA Path that was deleted because it was bugged...
    Agree that it's a zero sum game on fixing old vs making new, however - if they do the calculus of how many hours played they get, they could definitely get more hours out of fixing all the old stuff, rather than designing brand new. Only they know this, but hopefully it wouldn't cost as much to make WING 1-3 have difficulty as it would to make brand new 3 bosses.

    I hope that scribing will be renamed, undust and integrate a new specific home decoration tab. Scribing is already a very useless and very expensive profession when it comes to decoration. It could be so extremely stupid to create an other crafting profession also mainly devoted to decorate.
    More it goes with the new decorations, more complicated it become. Like Soto's decorations are crazy expensive and long to craft due to an exponential growth of crafting steps as new expansions come out (like 20 crafting steps to craft 1 decoration). Scribing and recipes really need to be reworked.
    I already spent over than 10k golds scribing out our guild halls + countless stacks of map currencies and volatile magic... so with player housing, people will also feel our financial distress when decorating their individual homes... and the frustration when hitting the "area max decorations cap" stupidly fast in enclosed areas. It'll all depend about how scribing and the whatever the new profession will be build. But for sure, scribing and guild hall limitations will also affect the housing decoration... that how the game is scripted.
    As players housing will be an amazing thing, I anticipate floods of blood and cries on forums.

      GW2 'ripped off' WvW from DAOC and Warhammer online and dynamic events from rift (and was arguably influenced by vanilla wow on this too). My point here isn't that doing this is bad, entirely the opposite; taking inspiration from existing art and incorporating it into your own is a good thing that makes for better more interesting art.
      Many of the worst problems in GW2 are because ArenaNet have failed to do this; the LFG system, lack of difficulty settings for content and poor UI systems all exist because arenanet didn't want to use ideas from other games.

      The only way to fix matchmaking is more players. Their goal is to get more players in PvP

    Pvp encourages low ttk builds and takes away all tanky amulets. Most meta builds can kill you in 2 seconds and have you rage quitting because it and rpg acting like COD.
