Hello I’m installing power mirrors on my 2005 Ford F-350 XL. This truck came with manual mirrors and doesn’t have any wires going to the doors. I’m wiring the signal and marker light from the mirror directly to the headlights for power so that all works. I want to connect a power mirror switch but unsure how. If I buy the switch I will have to connect wires to the back side of the switch where it would usually plug into a harness. My question is what wires from the mirror wiring harness connects to that switch other then the power and ground? You mentioned the “common” wire when testing.
Or would I be correct in assuming if I wired the power and ground from both mirrors to that switch it would work??
Another good PSA for us Ford owners!
It’s leaking coolant....wait, I need to fix the mirrors! Lol. I do the same thing....quick projects interlaced with long ones.
Haha yup, I was depressed a little with leak but ordered parts right away
I think you will need to replace your water pump.
Also change thermstat and coolant cap
Power probe 4 master kit would be great for this it will provide power to make the motors work if you want to check the motors
I was thinking about buying one of those later on, do you have one?
@@FixItNick yes I do have one I have the power probe 4 master kit
Also has some multi meter features also
I use it all the time great tool you can get the master kit from Amazon for 250 might be less now
NICK, YOUR RIGHT ABOUT YOUR " FIX OR REPAIR DAILY " NEXT TIME REBUILD A "BOW TIE" THAT FURD IS GOING TO BE NOTHING BUT PAIN IN THE BUTT!!!!!!
Literally the company I worked for was nationwide and purchased big diesel trucks on a regular basis . They stopped buying Ford's cause they spent more time in the garage than on the road. The best trucks we had were all to Chevrolet/GMC they out preformed and out lasted the fords by a long shot. Witnessed this over years until they finally stopped purchasing Ford. Not slamming Ford's this is just what I personally experienced.
What years were they buying and which engines? The 7.3 is a legend
@@FixItNick I believe the trucks were in the 2012 to 2015 range. I was part of a company they bought so they considered us the new guy's. So about 5 of us got the older GMC/CHEVROLET trucks and their guy's got the new Fords. Well it was funny for us 5 because they made their guy's either work in the warehouse doing BS work or had to ride with us when their trucks broke down which was often. From electrical issues to engine issues to drivetrain issues it wasn't just one thing with every truck.
THE TRUTH fords after the 7.3 are pretty sucky from what I have learned
@@FixItNick Yeah not sure about that but I know the present company I work for bought all new Ford transit Van's and they aren't holding up very well either. So if I purchase a truck in the future I'm staying away from Ford's just because of what I personally witnessed.
thank you going to try and see if i just need to replace the switch in mine!
No prob, check fuse first
If u decide u want to sell it lmk
Kelvin Nickerson next in line if you change your mind.
@@kolinodaniel8981 third in line.
Good vid and info!!
The only cars that have never let me down is Ford. I've tried GM, BMW, land rover, citroen, Renault, Nissan, Alfa, Fiat, mini, Ferrari, Lamborghini, mclaren, porsche etc... they have all failed at some point. I buy nearly new or brand new cars and keep for max 4 years. I had GM engine explode at 70 mph..... At the moment I have a 2 year old Galaxy titanium x best Ford I've ever had.
Buy a toyota or a volvo
@@hellcat3268 volvo probably
Yeah if you take care of them, they'll last awhile, some have problems, but that happens to every car company, even my Toyota has had problems
@@noahtaylor3148 But I do take care of them.... That's the point.
@@iainf6 sorry I didn't mean it that way lol. But I love Ford's, they are great handling, good hp, they get good mpg, and they are extremely comfortable compared to other car companies
Could be worse...could be a Chevy.
And change that thermostat housing. There is a much better on available. Think I got it from riffraff
I ordered motorcraft one will just do all OEM stuff
Are you still using the osmo to film?
Yes love that thing
looks like I am going to have to get me a hew tool (oemtool) that is.
Haha, I love that little probe pretty simple, link in my amazon garage under tools if interested :)
Im at 200k with my 7.3, replaced alternator, hubs, brakes and ball joints.
Water pump ever done on her?
@@FixItNick everyone praises Toyota for being reliable, and mine on my 4runner blew up big time, chewed my timing belt into pieces, it's just a maintenance thing, not ford only
Water pump failure?
Yes correct
