COD Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition 2. NCAA Football 14. 1. MLB The Show 16. Have a good one Metal Jesus! Rock On!
I have to say, I picked up NFS The Run after watching one of your videos a few years back and it’s my favourite NFS game now. The quick time parts are annoying but the racing is so good!
I love 7th gen games. I always collected for PS3, but started to collect for Xbox 360 too. I don't even know when I started collecting for PS3. I was just buying games I'd like to play and suddenly I had amassed huge library of games 😳There are so many good games on them.
I'm not really much of one to hang on to older stuff and prefer to consume newer titles most of the time, but I have recently recommissioned my PS3. Embarrassingly, this is mainly because myself and my wife miss guitar hero. However, I have also been playing Motorstorm a lot, because depsite two new gens, it offers a racing experience of a type that hasn't been matched by other titles. The design of those courses to allow routes for the different classes of vehicles, and the balancing that makes the races feel so close no matter what class you drive, are absolute master classes in design and I cant think of better. it is also an amazing example of AAA design from the opening sequences to the menus and it still looks more polished than the vast majority of games released today. If I could urge you to play one title on PS3 that you cannot get or experience anywhere else, its Motorstorm. BTW, I remember folklore - but I didn't until you mentioned it! :)
I am loving these videos, MJR. The GameCube one was a lot of fun as well. I have been looking for a copy of Folklore for a long time at my local store but it is just difficult to come by. I might have to finally cave and buy it online if I don't find it soon! I've been playing Lollipop Chainsaw as well as Killer is Dead on PS3 lately. There are so many titles I missed out on as I was a late adopter to the PS3. I can't wait to continue growing the library!
@@bluemoonrpg326 you can find Folklore CIB for between $60 and $70 so it could be a lot worse. Ni No Kuni is really good but I haven’t really dug into the Tales games yet. I played a bit of Berseria on PS4 but that’s about it. I’m planning on jumping into Arise before long.
Glad you mentioned a Motorstorm game. I still think the original Motorstorm looks amazing. The way the track would get all muddy as you drove thru it and states that way would really impact what path you took the next lap. You didn’t want to take the same path where the mud would bog you down
I love seeing other gamers giving the PS3 some love. I love going back to old generation consoles and continue to experience lots of still amazing games!
Man, it's like you're a professional at finding awesome games in niche markets. Been watching for years. Really respect your work Metal Jesus. You rock.
Nfs the run was sooo underrated. Kind of a one off for the franchise. With a gimmick that worked. The online was really fun when it had populated lobbies. One of my top 5 nfs games of all time. Which says a lot saying how big and long running the series is. With how generic and boring the other nfs games were that came out around the same time. This one really stood out. Criterion at the time didn’t seem to know how to make a unique nfs game where most wanted 2012 and rivals felt like burnout as a nfs game with nothing new or unique being introduced. The run was a breathe of fresh air for the series
Folklore is one of the best games ever, my only issue with the game is the trophies, because they are no trophies on this games ^^ and I would love hunting trophies on this awesome game ^^'''' Thanks for the video, greetings from Belgium.
That might be because they introduced trophies later after the launch of the PS3, I could be wrong but Folklore might have come out before the trophy system even existed
@@THESaSquaSHIsMe Yes that's exactly the case ^^ but MEtal Gear Solid 4 doesn't have trophies until an uptade years later so I would be happy if it's happen for Folklore as well.
I agree that NFS The Run is very underrated. It's not a masterpiece by any means but I enjoyed it back in the day. I got a PS3 really cheap a few months ago, so this video came at a great time. I never played Puppeteer when I had a PS3 and it totally looks like my type of game.
Love, love, love the PS3. Can't stress it enough lol, ton of great games on PS3 not as huge a library as PS2 but still great nonetheless. Also, speaking of PS3, is anyone else having issues logging into PSN through the PS3? The only way I can login is through ethernet cable but wi-fi just will not log me in. It's such a weird issue and haven't come across any answers yet. Hope someone can help me.

I have ps3’s! One in the living connected to an OLED, and one in my retro gaming room/office. The one in the office is jailbroken. Love the ps3! Such a great generation of games. I really felt even bigger developers were trying new stuff and taking chances on mechanics and gameplay features !
The primary game I still play on PS3 is the 2014 Magic the Gathering game. It's the only game my gf will play with me, and we have a ton of fun playing couch co-op almost every day. It's a great game for anyone into Magic.
Honestly one of the games I go back to is Saints Row 2. Personally I prefer that game over GTA 4. It's just more arcadey where 4 went for a more realistic design.

I quit buying new consoles and new console games. I bought a ps3 some time after its launch. The original fat 80GB version. One of my first games was armored core: for answer. It lagged so bad it was unplayable in certain spots of the game. I could not understand how a new game made for that console could lag that badly. Dude! I loved the quick time events in NFS The Run! I wish there was more story, cutscenes, and on foot sections in racing games. I loved the Cannonball feel and this game will always have a special place in my heart
As an example, when you play one of them, what are the odds you will play it again/continue it in the same month? I guess you are busy, so interested to understand how you split the time between all the games (i guess you play tons more in all consoles)
You hit on several of my favorites with Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Killzone, 3D dot Heroes, etc. Some of my favorites you missed were FEAR, Dead Space, SW The Force Unleashed and God of War. I’ll also add a couple of lesser talked about games like Dragons Crown, Asuras Wrath and Brutal Legend. I think you should do a second video based on the comments section.
HI men, I still have my ps3 and still have a lot of love! Actually I’m gonna study to another country and I will bring it there. I’ve been collecting a lot of games for it very cheap (used obviously).

“Hidden gem” console exclusives don’t get cheaper. Buy it now before it gets more expensive would be my advice.
It has cooled off a bit since the worst of the pandemic. It was sitting around $80 for awhile but I think it's mid-50s now. Probably won't get any cheaper, though.
Great video. I just bought a PlayStation 3 yesterday. My original one started freezing up many years ago. This is a great list of games to get started with again.
I love the ratchet and clank and the infamous series!
And loved playing the ps1 games on the ps3 consoles
@DANIEL LESTER play into the nexus and rift apart. Play 2016 just for the graphics
@DANIEL LESTER that’s why i said play the remaster ONLY for the graphics. The story is shit. Rift apart was actually good tho. Not like the original trilogy but it was good
Instant like for Puppeteer in the thumbnail... Love that game...
I love the ps3 era so much. So many great good and underrated games.
Will always and forever love your videos and be a fan. Seattle for Life!!
Split/Second and Puppeteer, 2 very underrated masterpieces!
I really enjoy your videos. I play the ps3 on a daily basis, infact it is my newest generation system. Watching your Ps3 videos has been a real pleasure and fun, thank you for supporting older systems. Physical ownership may be slowly going away... nice to play a game and not worry if servers are bogged down or whatever. Favorite 5 games now... 5. Mass Effect Trilogy 4. Katamari Forever 3.
Glad to hear it!
are the servers taken down on all platforms?
Yes I still play on my PS3 fat all the time it’s sitting next to my PS5 and Series X. Sooooo many good titles!
I love 7th gen games. I always collected for PS3, but started to collect for Xbox 360 too. I don't even know when I started collecting for PS3. I was just buying games I'd like to play and suddenly I had amassed huge library of games 😳There are so many good games on them.
Loved this video. Glad that you've mentioned Ratchet and Clank ToD, it was my first PS3 game!
I still play my ps3 couple times a week so many great games on it.
What I love about these videos is that everything you highlight goes up 50-75% after you post it. Tha is for making me lots of $$$!
Completely agree with your thoughts on motorstorm
MJR I love these “games I still play” videos! Please keep them coming
Folklore is super expensive. PS3 has lots of good rpgs. I still love Ni no Kuni and the tales games on ps3.
I never heard of the tornado outbreak game I must play it!!! Thanks again MetalJesus. So many videos of yours I find a new old game to play.
Man, it's like you're a professional at finding awesome games in niche markets. Been watching for years. Really respect your work Metal Jesus. You rock.
I appreciate that! Thanks so much 😍
I like him ❤
@@MetalJesusRocks ❤❤
wow what a list never heard of many of these gems , thx MetalJesus!
I really love these videos. This guys enjoys his life
Folklore is one of the best games ever, my only issue with the game is the trophies, because they are no trophies on this games ^^ and I would love hunting trophies on this awesome game ^^''''
Thanks for the video, greetings from Belgium.
That might be because they introduced trophies later after the launch of the PS3, I could be wrong but Folklore might have come out before the trophy system even existed
@@THESaSquaSHIsMe Yes that's exactly the case ^^
but MEtal Gear Solid 4 doesn't have trophies until an uptade years later so I would be happy if it's happen for Folklore as well.
That Tornado game looks awesome. I always find cool new stuff on your channel.
I agree that NFS The Run is very underrated. It's not a masterpiece by any means but I enjoyed it back in the day. I got a PS3 really cheap a few months ago, so this video came at a great time. I never played Puppeteer when I had a PS3 and it totally looks like my type of game.
puppeteer is really good and afaik from the lbp makers. kind of feels like lbp even better
I have a copy of Folklore, Puppeteer, and 3D Dot Game Heroes.
Such a great video with good recommendations on games I havent even heard about. I actually just finished fixing my CECH A01 BC ps3 and I am looking to play some ps3 games on it. Cant wait!
It's just more arcadey where 4 went for a more realistic design.
not played 2 played 3 love it and in the middle of iv
Awesome video. Still a ton of great ps3 games that still hold up today. Thanks for the upload.
Glad you enjoyed it
Whatever happened to the weight loss journey?
Still working out... trying to walk more now that it's nice out. But I'm over 50 now, so it's much harder than when I was younger. But I'm not giving up. 👍
@@MetalJesusRocks that's good to hear! I'm young so I've been enjoying longboarding and skateboarding, maybe look into biking if you haven't already. It's really nice to be one with nature while getting a fun workout 🤙 best of luck to you
Thank you for your wonderful content MJ
Such a shame that the multiplayer for the kill one and the uncharted games went offline. Those were some great online games to play at the time, and I wish there was a way to bring them back.
Modders brought back Killzone 2 online a while back, same with Warhawk. It's not too difficult to get going and you don't need to mod your consoles IIRC.
Companies should allow it more often for folks to locally host.
This days I m playing Silent Hill HD (yes I like it) ,Folklore,NIER,Ni No kuni,Alice and Siren Blood Curse...Ah!!! I forgot Evil Within....all great games even today,Nier is a must,do a favour to yourself and play Nier....
I use the ps3 as a blu-ray player, ...still holds up very well. Favorite games are the tennis games, ...Virtua tennis and Top Spin.
That generation of games may be my favorite. In that era you had the Mass Effect, Gears of War and Uncharted Trilogy. You had a TON of game collections on ps3 (not to mention all the great ps3 exclusives towards the end there). And 360's xbox gold with Halo 3? Oh man, so amazing.
Your PS3 collection is AMAZING!
And u too ❤
Have any of y'all played xenosaga? That 3 game series has probably 100 hours combined cut scenes. More than ANYTHING else that's not a visual novel. Suuuuuuper intense
I quit buying new consoles and new console games. I bought a ps3 some time after its launch. The original fat 80GB version. One of my first games was armored core: for answer. It lagged so bad it was unplayable in certain spots of the game. I could not understand how a new game made for that console could lag that badly. For some reason i just lost my enthusiasm to new console stuff. I still have that console and some of my old games like skate and ghostbusters. These videos are making me want to get into some of these "newer" games again. You clearly have lots of passion for all kinds of games. Love the videos MJR!
ive been playing my ps3 a lot too recently so im excited to see some sick titles i can go for soon, you always have such varied lists theres usually something for just about everyone!
i gotta check out folklore, ive been playing mgs4 and south park stick of truth
Love being able to go back at play all my old consoles and games. PS3 had some great ones
Thank you MJ for still making these wonderful videos even after all this time.
👍🏻👊🏻
Great video, if I had to add anything maybe Heavenly sword, and EX Trooper
I'm currently replaying Grid Autosport
Games I love:
- Blur
- Burnout Paradise
- Deadpool
- Driver San Francisco
- Grid Autosport
- Just Cause 2
- Lego Batman 2
- Lego Marvel Superheroes
- Midnight Club LA
- Modnation Racers
- Motorstorm
- NFS Hot Pursuit
- Portal 2
- Race Driver Grid
- Red Faction Guerrilla
- Saints Row 2
- Star Wars The Force Unleashed
- Test Driver Unlimited 2
Always love your videos! Keep up the good work!
I really appreciate that. Have a great weekend 👍
It makes me happy to see resistance being covered!
Awesome video! Part 2 please!!
I completely missed the PS3s lifespan, and have slowly collecting the past 3 years. Currently playing Red Dead Redemption.
Have a great week MJR!!!
Believe it or not the PS3 is a legendary console still holds up well until this day.
Once again MJ like i always say you nailed it !!!
I saw Puppeteer and i immediately clicked! What an underrated gem that was, i flipping loved that game :)
when buying used ps3 games in norway.... everyone mostly just owns the same stuff. so i always find the same games over and over and over again. i collect different games and i like finding cool games. your videos are so awesome
I just picked up a PS3 on the cheap the other day, definitely a few titles here to check out!
Also good to see NFS The Run get some love, it's one of my favorite Need for Speed games too. Driving from coast to coast gives such amazing variety to the environments.
Awesome video. Got now a few more games to add to my PS3 collection! I play games of that generation on the X360 mostly but some of those exclusives that you showed draw my attention.
Yes mgs 4 is my favorite! Closure for all the characters, awesome bosses and you even return to the location of the first game.
I use my ps3 all the time, awesome vid! I always wanted to play Puppeteer but can never find it on my hunts. Soon tho
4:06 "has it's own little twist" I see what you did there.
Dude great content as always. Yeah ps3 is sick. Ive been jammin the switch lately but might have to switch it up. Thanks man
You hit on several of my favorites with Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Killzone, 3D dot Heroes, etc.
The only game I kept coming back (until they stopped the server) was Black Ops 2: Multi-player and Zombies! That's where I started my love for CoD, and times spent with friends playing Tranzit, Buried, and Origins... man, so much nostalgia.
I love these videos, getting to see what you personally love to just pick up and play is awesome! I'd love to see some portable consoles. I know how much you love the PSP! How is the complete PSP collection coming by the way?
Been playing Red Dead Redemption lately, doesn’t look have bad for the PS3 version.
I love Folklore. Started playing it several months ago. I've been enjoying it more than a lot of the games that only PS4 has to offer. The PS3 is my favorite Sony console & one of the greatest entertainment systems ever made. I'm always using my PS3 Slim. Whether playing games, watching DVDs/Blu-Rays, listening to music or connecting a USB device to update my console or stream music/videos or download them to my Hard-Drive, either way I'm always getting enjoyment out of a truly timeless piece of wonderful hardware
