    Really great concepts…but as a suggestion be careful with interrupting Drew and your guests. It’s a little annoying and counter productive…But we appreciate what you’re doing for the golfing world.

    Drew has a fantastic swing AND is so knowledgeable in biomechanics. He is spot on with what generates speed.

    Drew said, "when I fall ..." [forward.] He's exactly correct. We fall off the back foot onto the front foot. We don't push off the back foot. I called it the "teeter and fall" move in my "no pushing off the back foot" video from years ago.
    Lag, in my opinion, has to come from a cause and effect and not a desired position. If you're trying to force it, it's nearly impossible and will be detrimental to the swing. If you cause it to happen properly, you won't even know that you've achieved it, but it'll be happening.

      Yes, agree, I feel like I'm bringing elbow down and moving pressure into my lead foot. And yes lag I think is an effect of this move. That's assuming there isn't ott or hips spinning out and club getting trapped.

    Would like to see more from drew on "releasing" the club. I know he used that old club fan thing to swing more out in front but wonder if he still tries to do that. Or where does he try to make the "woosh" in his swing.
    This was a good one. Have to get him and Dana going thru the process of Drew's swing on your channel as well.

    At 81 years old I can draw a 5 wood by making sure my left arm and club shaft are in line at address and alignment closed.

    How much of the wrist activity at the bottom of the arc is down to the momentum of the clubs weight?

    Does this also work for irons in terms of how strong his grip is? Can you be efficient using this method when handling irons with the same concept and grip I guess is what I'm asking

      @@3318kk I'm talking about the motion itself, im not going to be swinging out of my shoes. I can always 3/4 swing it or even slower speed. I was just wondering for that motion in general

    Have you never seen Hogan’s lag, Brandon? His lag was the opposite of what you say, “You never see people do this…”. Ummm, Hogan did!

    I've had a couple of doctors tell me that separating your hips from your back is not good for your back and is what causes back problems for people who play golf. Now I'm starting to see professionals like Patrick Cantlay who are changing their swings to protect their backs. This makes sense as the longer you play the more money you make. With this in mind doesn't it make more sense to turn your hips and back at the same time? You can still keep your side bend and maintain your posture and maybe prevent the eventual back problems.

      Rory, DJ, Sergio, Adam Scott. All guys who use their hips, create lag, and bombed it in their career. Oh, and they all have very healthy careers. Jason Day, Tiger, they have more “connected” swings like you mention. And they both have had back issues. I’m not naive enough to believe either one is the cause of injury. Playing football is a high injury risk sport. Still some guys have long careers and some don’t. If you’re scared to get hurt then don’t try it. Even Bryson has push the limits. He prepped his body and faced 0 injury to is torso areas or legs. He hurt his wrist and had surgery but no major back/hip/knee issues.

      Have a look at some of the older Milo Lines videos about how the hip rotation on the backswing is more of an internal rotation of the trail leg into the hip socket, Padraig Harrington also made a good video about it. Then on the transition the trail leg is externally rotating in the hip socket to square the hips and then rotate them to open. The lower back obviously follows the hips and the 'separation' is really all in the thoracic spine area, which is designed to be able to move separately from the lower back - and assuming some left sidebend in the backswing is key to being able to have the thoracic spine move you to the right sidebend in the transition - again Milo has videos on this. Check out Ben Hogans swing when he was older - it wasn't until he was quite old and stiff that it started to get restricted in hip movement.

      ​@@JustusSeiberthe "connected" swings, in which the lead arm does not swing freely away from the chest, are, I believe, the problem for the back, particularly tall, slim golfers like Zalatoris. Morikawa and Cantlay have also had back issues in their early 20s. In any good swing, the hands will release.
      Look at the old guys to see the long lasting swings: Snead, Nicklaus, Watson, Mickelson. All released the lead arm.
      My golf career (such as it was) finished 40 years ago at 33 when I was copying Trevino. 2 discs gone.
      Tiger swings better now, so does Cantlay.

      @@JustusSeiber Look up Adam Scott Back injury and watch how he had to adjust his swing. Watch Rory's swing in slow motion, there is no hip and back separation there. Watch Tiger's old swing vs new swing.

      @@JustusSeiber Having connected swings and separating your hips from your back are two different swings. Watch Tiger's old swing vs new swing video. When your hips is facing the target and you haven't hit the ball yet is hip separation. That is how some instructors used to teach distance.

    This just seems like pointless information. Surely lag is just a consequence of having relaxed wrists and the weight of the clubhead creating stretch.

    Lag. Power. Four power sources. The endless belt effect. All the answers are contained in the golfing machine by Homer Kelley. Where do you think LAG came from? The golfing machine. All these so called swing gurus love taking the information from the book without crediting it as the source of their information.
