woodturning a square katalox bowl

I made a square bowl from katalox.
I treated the cracks in the wood with filler and ca glue before I started turning.
Likewise, I first mounted the wood with a faceplate to turn the outside and then reverse mounted the bowl on a glue block to turn the inside.
I treated the bowl with sealer and, after curing, sanded it to 400 grit and then finished it with friction polish.
The square top is 25 centimeters square and the bowl has a diameter of 22 centimeters, and it is 5.5 centimeters high in total.

Wow, some piece of wood you turned into this lovely bowl! Out of interest Hans, how would you call that handy thing in your tailstock that if you reverse your workpiece it can hold the M33 thread?

Thank you Frank, yes it is a special type of wood that is difficult to obtain.
For reversing my workpiece, I use a live center from one way and an adapter to M33 in the tailstock. dehoutdraaierij.nl/shop/accessoires/centers-tegencenters/live-center/

Nice tip with using denatured alcohol to dissolve the glue, using that one. Nice piece!

Thank you, Michael. Yes, denatured alcohol works very well to dissolve hot melt glue, but you have to be patient before you get results👍👍

Thank you Mike, yes it was a long project, the wood is very hard, at least the dark purple heartwood, but the sap wood is not very hard,
my chisel sometimes bounced a lot when working on an area where I was working on the hard and soft wood, but it was worth it and it looks beautiful.
