...c'mon, Harry...that's not a fair comparison...I love the shape of the cherry salt pig, but I also love spalted wood...so I had to give a thumbs up on both of 'em... Very well done! Matt
Well, they're both extraordinarily beautiful! However, considering space efficiency in my kitchen, I would have to vote for the spalted one, which I did below. Thank you for your work, Harry!
WOW, Harry once again you outdid yourself. The one on the left, the cherry one was obviously a true work of art and has my vote. Not to undo the one on the right that was more compact and has its own place. For size, that may be more what some folks would prefer.
Refreshing to see traditional (NO EPOXY RESIN) wood turning! These pieces have natural warmth and beauty that beg to be touched. These are some of the elements that drew me to wood turning 38 years ago. Another beauty of wood turning is we make use of yard trees and cutoffs that are typically discarded. If one has a Grandpa planted tree that came down from storm or other causes, it behooves you to find a Harry Smith (esc) wood turner near by. He or she can help keep Grandpa or Grandma alive for generations. Wakodahatchee Chris
Fantastic job! I love them both, yet my favorite is the smaller box because of all the character with the veins of the wood, Burl. Great job! You are very talented and creative! Bravo!
I love the pot with lid as i love the spalting wood it has so much character. The salt dish with a lid is unique you made was lovely ànd my favourite the òther ìs great i like the spalting is àwesomè it had nice grain is a nice. Thanks for two amazing items. Amanda x
Both..absolutely stunning :) the smaller round one has the more beautiful pattern due to the wood itself, but i would be overjoyed with either of them!
I can see why you had the idea to be radical and combine the cherry and the spalted wood, but I agree with you that it was the right choice to make two projects in the end. Both are stunning. My preference is the cherry one, for several reasons: pure personal preference of colour, but also knowing the peril of the serious risk of a dangerous catch during the turning! Superb job displaying the inner beauty of the grain. Your natural talent shines through this video. Thanks Harry.
I've done some sketchy crap on my old Craftsman lathe, but I'd never attempt a burl, besides I didn't have many attachments like you. Still remember wood exploding while turning lol. Nice work! I understand the time put in!
makes me what to turn my lathe on ! i knew that one was Chery by the bark , chips just get everywhere ,,fun to see you do it i don't have to clean it up ... maybe next summer i'll take it outside, thanks

@@HarrySmithWoodturning I like them both so it’s hard to choose between them. I like the smaller one with the lid! I really like the pattern in the wood❗️😊
Salt pigs! I never would have guessed! I thought the latger one might have been chips/toast and dips. It surprised me, when you said they were the same thing! Either way, they're both beautiful lidded bowls, with snug lids, suitable for something special. Thanks for showing us!
I've been a long-time subscriber, Harry, and I love your work. However, this was a hard one for me to watch. Because I couldn't take my eyes off of you turn the insides of each piece with a roughing gouge. Fully anticipating a giant catch that never came... V
The suspense was killing me trying to figure out where you were going. They both turned out amazing. I love the grain in the splatted piece, but the crotch piece is very unique, so I would with the unique one.
Very nice, but I notice you are using a spindle roughing gouge not a bowl gouge on the outside and to set the form. It worked, but I am curios of your choice as it could bend the tool.
spindle roughing gouge can break off at the tang where it meets the handle if you get a catch, potentially sending the metal flying, extremely dangerous
I agree he should not use a Spindle Roughing Gouge it's a bad choice and dangerous and is giving a bad example to inexperienced turners ,it maybe that he is inexperienced him self. James
According to my wife, who knows these things, those are called salt cellars. I suspect it's a regional thing. She is very much into medieval history, so maybe that's where she got it from. 🙂 Both pieces are quite beautiful!
Wow they are both so beautiful it's be hard to choose the best one but I really like the spalted one the best I guess if I had to choose between the two. You did an amazing job turning them both!!!! Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up

The cherry is to unique to ignore.

Beautiful pieces of wood and workmanship you should be committed showing people God bless
They both look absolutely fantastic Harry

Those are for weed.
The spalted bowl is gorgeous, i love interesting grains, but the other one is so unique.

I don't know that i could pick one over the other - they are both fabulous, each a unique, functional work of art. Well done!!

I’ve always loved watching an artist create.
Morw beautiful work. Especially love the end grain on the spalted lid.
They both look great. The winged one is unique for sure. Nice job.
Brillant idea to make a set of dishes with a crotch bowl. The bowl really showed off the grain as well as the other bowl. KEEP ON TURNING 💡👋
Very good workman ship
I like the larger one. Something you’ve never before. Great job.
Beautiful work on both of them.
Harry , u did fantastic job. Congratulations. God bless u good health n keep doing. 🪷🚩🙏
Beautiful work!
they both turned out uniquely very cute! I'm not sure which one I like better but for space in my small kitchen, the little round bowl would be best.
NOW I know what I've made! I have two lidded pots (small) for which I couldn't find a function. I do now Thanks Harry

Lots of sawdust

I made a bowl in school , the surface was like glass , and the teacher didn’t know how I did it .
i love both but I love the grain in the round one most. glad you decided to go with both. too late to vote just wanted to comment
Отличная работа👍👍‼️🔥🔥🔥
Both very nice! These are called salt cellars.
Superb !!!
Hard to choose Harry.
The one made from the cheery fork is very unique, but I like spalted wood a lot.
Both are great.

I tried this once, ended up with the most expensive labour intensive toothpick in the history of toothpicks!!

Oh, nice Wood 😉
great piece of work most in spiorin bob england
Nice salt cellars.
Dang, wish I had a skill. Turns out my parents were right when they said video games aren’t a skill
Pretty cool
very good video, thank you
When I saw you finish the first piece, I pictured a free-form candle holder. All it needed was to be lined to protect the wood from the wax.
I am a new subscriber, love your artwork, it’s beautiful 👍
