Woodturning - Dragon Bowl from End Grain Black Walnut
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 май 2021
- Huge American black walnut log turned into an end grain dragon bowl. The final piece reminded my wife to a dragon egg and skin of the dragon therefore the name of this project. Used my one-way easy coring system to produce two bowls out of this log. Due to end grain turning that made it a little harder so tried to be passioned to allowed the cutter to do its job. To add extra features, I added some wave effect to both to the top and bottom. Finished with boiled linseed oil hope you enjoy this woodturning project 😊

is there any way you can make a video on how to make or get that jig of yours
@@h-land2109 which jig are you referring to?
@@DavidsWoodturning the one that hollowed out the bowl part fast in the video
Oh i see. That is OneWay Easy Coring system. Just google this. Not something i made

Well, to be honest I liked it much better without the cutouts. Interesting wood.
I agree
I second
I third.
I fourth
I agree. Sometimes you can be over creative.
Love that cutting tool, leaves you with less mess and another piece for next project!...lovely bowl...and great size and shape!
Thanks you 😀 Yes it is a great investment. So nice to see you can make more out of the wood
I agree with you.....and I'm wondering about all the tools I've never imagined but might be on someone's wish list. Conclusion: it will be fun to see what's next.
where can i get that tool ?
*Man That Linseed oil just makes it jump right out...my FAVORITE (but expensive) wood.*
The wood grain on that piece is very beautiful. I’m glad you left it alone and let it shine for itself. Very well done!
Thank you so much 😀
It’s very beautiful and pleasing to look at. It gives a sense of peace.
Well done sir, very beautiful.
Wow!! What a beautiful work of art!! Well done!!
I love that you scooped out the core! It always makes me a little sad when that gets gouged out, seems like such a waste. The bowl looks great, David!
Thank you so much 😊 Agree, hate wasting good materials I am glad such coring system is available
Especially when turning exotic wood. Always best to core them out... even cheap wood.
@@DavidsWoodturning Couldn't you make another smaller item from the core?
@@cjtheisen5124 Reckon, I could have but very small one.
Great turning and a most unusual piece of wood 🪵
Man and nature in harmony. True craft and beauty.
Such incredible talent to take a regular looking piece of wood and turn it into a beautiful bowl!
Beautiful job brother. Like from India.
The OCD'er in me was very happy you cut out the bottom too!! LOL Beautiful wood that black walnut is!! Awesome bowl David!!
Thanks for watching! 😀
Wow, that is beautiful. Always loved seeing wood furniture. Take a nice stain that brings out the grain of the wood, just love that natural look. It saddens me to see an old piece of furniture covered in paint. That just hides the beauty. Amazing bowl you made.
Thank you 😀
the way the inside didn't go to waste omg i love this idea alot much much respect !!!
Ohhhhh wow wow wow wow!!! The grain in the wood is awesome and stunningly beautiful.

A first rate piece David, beautifully done! But I have to say the star of the show is the wood itself. Never seen grain or colour like that before. Completely off the chart in my opinion. Superb!
Thank you :)
Terry, I agree. I was in awe as this piece was being turned and the grain was revealed.
Endlessly you can look at how water flows, fire burns and another person works))

Awesome woodwork
Skvělá práce a nádherné dřevo 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I have to give props with how you handle a Dremel. I've been a welder for 20 years and of all the tools used to cut and shape material, rotary tools are really difficult to use and not ruin what your working on. 👍
Thank you so much 🙂
