    Considered one of these but the crash protection is not good so went for the later model with All Terrain Wildpeak tyres and it is a surprisingly capable off-roader.

    They're worth buying, it's basically a Hilux under there. Drives like a truck. I drove my 2.5L TD up a mountain of sand and it made it in one go with just all season tires. Lots of room for a bed and all your stuff. Super reliable and gets good mileage. Put a nice stereo in it with a sub and it's perfect. Some have a built in 100watt inverter with a house outlet in the front and the very back for like a phone charger or a computer or whatever. Toyota 4-Runner wheels will fit on it as well, just fyi.

      Yes but not sure how far to the intake, wasn’t game to give it a crack, I’m thinking about building a snorkel one day :)

    that was a good video Kev yes if you van was a bit higher for ground clearance it would probably be a breeze to handle that terrain.I am seriously think of getting 1 like yours? cheers David.

      Yes a bigger lift is on the cards (I actually have a video coming about making the van more capable) I would recommend it seriously!

    Love the videos! How do you find parts, service and insurance for an import? Contemplating one for myself.

    • @Vanlyf
      @Vanlyf  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks!
      Insurance is no drama, was just a little confusing to register as service nsw don’t have the particular model in their system, parts wise they share 90% of their parts with the Australian model, the rest are fairly easy to import through partsouq :)

    Oh and you can fit diff lockers if you want to make it a true 4x4 if it didn't already come with. Not sure about the newer ones, mine is a 2005.

      I’m planning on putting a locker in it at some point! Plus some bigger tyres when mine wear out :)

    Nice video. Have a Japan 4wd commuter petrol. Love them. Do you have ATT on? I have Kumho AT 52 ‘s on, big difference. Did you lift your van 50 mm? Eazy to do and cheap.

    • @Vanlyf
      @Vanlyf  Год назад +1

      Hi thanks! My van came standard with a small lift, I’m currently just running the snow tyres it had on it when imported, just aired down to 25psi to increase traction, though bigger wheels and tyres when they are worn out!

    • @Vanlyf
      @Vanlyf  2 месяца назад

      A hilux diff lock will fit the rear as they are the same and you can wind up the front as it is torsion bar suspension

    • @Vanlyf
      @Vanlyf  Год назад +1

      Yes it has a very small lift in it, but it’s just longer shackles in the rear and the front torsion bars are wound up. Currently searching for the parts required to improve the suspension!
