- A few days ago, we took the ultimate leap of leaving our life in Lake Tahoe and long-term careers behind to travel and experience new things and places while we can. For the first part of our adventure, we’re headed north to some cooler temps. Come along and see what it’s like adjusting to van life during our first couple of days on the road.

A close friend passed away very unexpectedly last year at 37. My father passed away in January. The lesson from my friend was “life is short so do things while you can. “. The lesson from my dad was “life is short, do it while your health and body allow you to “. You had a good instinct and you followed it… I can’t wait to follow along! Congrats on this next chapter.
Oh, Ashley. So sorry to hear about your losses. Unfortunately it takes some tough life experiences (I lost both my parents a few years ago), to see how precious life is. 100% agree with you and that’s why we’re doing what we are. Thanks so much for being here. We appreciate you being part of our journey! 🥰
@@AdventureOutThere I'm sorry to hear about your parents, it's so difficult. We bought an older Airstream last year and have been doing our best to get out when we can! Husband is still active duty military so just waiting for him to retire LOL. Have a great day!

That's exactly what pushed me off the cliff. ( figuratively speaking, of course.)
@@MountainGirlwIPA Sorry you had to go through that. Lots of love!!
Don't let a "time line" dictate missing something you want to see. That "time line" was related to your 9-5 world, it is all your time now This will also help with all those strange things you run into on the road, like weather, road closures, and detours.
Don't take a trip....let the trip take you.
@@NetNathan1 Yes!! This is exactly what we are so excited for on this journey! We so just have one place we need to be to get to where we are ultimately heading for the rest of summer. More to come! 😊 Thanks for being here!

OMG, I think we're neighbors. What a cool rig, how fun, have a fantastic time-I will be following your adventures for sure!
Neighbors at camp?!? Would love for you to come say “hi!” Thanks for watching and commenting!
Welcome to van life! One suggestion, purchase a few bags of freeze dried food, stash them somewhere and have them for those days that don’t go as planned. Have fun!
That is a great tip! We were actually just looking at those in a sporting goods store the other day. They are cheaper than food at the grocery store where we currently are. lol! Thanks for the comment and suggestion!
These are also handy if you can't cook outside. I don't mind boiling water in my van but don't like cooking in it. I also keep a supply.
Your dog seems as excited about the trip as my dog Tigger is about our cross country adventures. He loves being in the van and prefers it to everyplace but home.
Your dog Tigger sounds like he would be best friends with Wez. :) We love our furry travel companion and he loves meeting other dogs (and humans) on the road.
I wanted to watch the whole video just based on your opening track. LOL. I'm actually kidding but I love it!! Happy trails! New sub here and looking forward to your adventures.
Ha! Our plan worked! JK Thanks for watching and subscribing!! We’ll try and keep up at least one good tune a video, because them shiz is expensive for little guys like us. Cheers!

Hello in France! Thanks so much for the great comment. We had never seen an Iveco before we were on the ferry with one last week. It was an amazing looking rig! Appreciate you watching and commenting, and the tip about birch bark! 😃
Congratulations on getting away. We’re closing in on 70 in a Promaster (with rooftop a/c) currently in South America but we always took time to travel when we were younger so going on the road in 2021 was a well planned affair , no kids parents or property. Don’t let anyone frighten you into not trying something, and hope to see you on the road one day.

How exciting! I look forward to seeing your journey. Weird question: how do you do your dishes?
Great question. We have 30-gallons of fresh water that is plumbed into the sink in our kitchen. We are pretty careful not to use a lot of water and what we do use drains into a 5-gallon jerry can that we can take out and dispose of at any dump site. Hope that helps!
Alright! Nice job on dinner.😲 I am impressed.💯
Thank you! It did not disappoint. 🤤
I wish I was outlanding like you guys as I have been contemplating. I recently lost my 9-5 and realized it did not serve me. Wish you the best to your travels and bless
Thank you! Sorry to hear about losing your job, but hopefully you will find new and wonderful doors that open for you! Take care and thanks for being here.
Hello new travellers, back when you lived in a house no dought you had AC. Now that you are living in a van with NO parked AC your dog may be a lot less comfortable with his fur coat. Going forward your FIRST priority needs to be the comfort of your dog 24/7 The roads and direction should be to stay in decent temps. It is not always easy to do. Have a nice day Tom in Canada in the Maritimes at the NB-NS border
You are totally correct! He has and always will be our first priority, which is why we are headed the way we are for now. We won’t travel south until the temps are cooler and more comfortable. We would never want him to overheat. Great hearing from another dog lover. Sending all the best!!

Congratulations! I'm sorry, I don't remember your pup's name but it's not a bad idea to get different types of fans. Just in case he ever has to stay in the van alone. USB, battery or of course if you have solor, that would help to. There's also an app (I wish I could remember the name) that keeps track of temperature inside the vehicle and will warn you through a smartphone. Anyway, I just subscribed. That pork chops dinner and potatoes had me drooling.

Curious how long you plan to live like this? Did you sell you assets to make this happen and will you will return back to 9-5 once the money runs out?
Good question! We kept our house and are renting it to a family member for the next year or so and then we'll reevaluate if we should continue renting it to someone else. We aren't exactly sure how long this will last, but we do know that at some point we'll probably return to the 9-5, but we also might fall into something completely different, and we are open to that. We can always come back if we need to. :)
