    I remember when you put that rubbish MOBI panel on there and the output was disappointing, be aware with the glass based panels you can get micro cracking in the cells with all the vibration from the vehicle as these house cells are meant for stationary installation, micro cracking will damage the cells and drop the output, the best connection as you said is to parallel the DC and the mppt so you can take the input of them both at the same time as you drive, 8A from the old panel is 96W

    • @Vanlyf
      @Vanlyf  День назад +1

      Haha, I was expecting so much more from that mobi panel! Super disappointing!
      It didn’t make the Final Cut but I also foam taped the entire perimeter of the panel to try to avoid the vibrations going into the panel too much, but that was my main concern with putting a house panel on the roof! Well worth it though for the massive solar gains! Thanks for watching :)

      Ya, that older panel looked like 100 watt for sure, not 400. What a joke. Great upgrades for Kev.

    Lots of work to switch that battery, but seems more than worth the efforts. Free A/C from the sun is a pretty sweet deal!

    What a nice upgrade, I really liked the idea that you can basicallyy use all of the electric stuff in the van at the same time, definetely a big change. Cant wait for you to share how it goes when youre on the road.

      @@Vanlyf video on channel, but I have cheap Chinese product 1800btu 24v , uses about 200 watts. In mid Florida in shade or dark when it's 80F can get it down to comfortable removing a lot of humidity, but here after midnight rarely above 75F even in August.

    Hi Kev, Merry Christmas! A big hug for Kimmie ! Glad to have a new video ! Keep up the good work ! You know, Kev, you could expand your channel to cover also electrical stuff. I'd watch ! I believe many would (of course, it would help to have Kimmie along...). There's a channel called Farmcraft101 -- you'd think it is all about farming, but this gentleman farmer is erudite, articulate and does amazing fixes to heavy equipment, repairing hydraulic cylinders and such. Fascinating. So one can steer the content of one's channel in any direction, so long as it is genuine and has some depth and charm, which you have in abundance. Kimmie is the star, but you can live with that, can't you? That other channel where we first "discovered" you has taken on a very odd rather cultish turn. So, do please keep your videos coming! Merry Christmas !

    Unless nearly all of your electrical energy system components were free you are not operating it for free. Your system is depreciating at a rate of cost over time + maintenance & repair.
