Thanks for the great work. Love the shot of the bridge at 0:15.You hit the most important tip first - "go slow". This is so important. There is an added benefit to shooting slow movements, that is not addressed in this video. It is very easy to speed up video that is too slow. As long as nothing live is in the shot (birds, people), you can speed up shots quite a bit and they will still look great. Slowing down video is not as easy. Slowed down video will usually look very choppy because of duplicated frames. Thanks for the motion blur tip at 6:38. This is one I haven't been doing, but will start. This should help with some of the moire patters when moving over water, through trees, and over roofs.
This is exactly the kind of aerial tips I've been looking for. After learning the basics of UAV flying, no matter what type, everyone needs info like this to improve their videos.
This is really helpful, I've seen a lot of Drone tutorials, but none as comprehensive and useful as this one. Thank you so much for putting this together, can't wait to see more related content to help new Aerial photography enthusiasts like me.
Great video! Simple, and straight to the point. I do have a question about your cloud shots. Aren't those illegal? FAA requires flying 500 feet beneath the lowest cloud cover. Is there some workaround or loophole I am unaware of?
+Max Vorobey Thanks! A majority of the shots in that video were with the Inspire 1. A few were with a Phantom 2. I mainly edit with Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
Any reason why you use AE rather than Premiere Pro? I understand the warp stabilizer in AE, but distortion, and colour grading can be done in PP. Or better still, Speed Grade.
What program are you using for post-production on video? Can you give any price for the program and are there any other programs that can do the same thing with lower cost?
+Kenneth Everett I find the effects options to be much more user friendly in After Effects. Easier to color grade, stabilize footage, etc. After exporting from After Effects, I will usually import that footage into Premiere Pro and complete the edit with music, titles, etc.
I am new to the discussion but enjoy filming. Can anyone recommend what altitude I would want to shoot a larger ranch like 5000 acres. If I don't have a lot of time and need to get as much footage as possible that is useful to my client.
Hey man, sorry i don't speak english very well so i did not understand what you said about "lower the shutter speed, strobe effect, close to the ground, far from the ground etc.." Can you explain it again please?
+John Rambo I'm not as familiar with Parrot's drones, but I know they are growing in popularity. I looked up the specs I could find. Yes, I think they would be good enough for short film. Not ideal for commercial cinematography though. The limiting factor would be the camera, since it is "built-in" the drone and can't be tilted up or down, which is going to limit the angles that would be possible. I've seen photos from the drone though and they look good. For video I would just keep the movements slow. The dynamic range on the camera will probably be limiting too, so filming while facing the sun may cause the image to over expose. Great entry level drone though and since it is smaller it can fly in spaces close to the ground that larger drones can't!
Evan Roden look up 250 racing quad kit and buy a cheap 5.8ghz fpv system with a monitor that was my old setup and it worked really well and was only like $250 but now I'm flying the phantom 4 so I haven't used it much lately
Great instructions, but I had to pause and go back many, many times, because I not only couldn't understand the words you were pronouncing, but you were going way too fast. Going very fast doesn't make you appear smarter to others, it's what you're saying , where you are coming from that matters.
Very, very nice guide. No filler, no gimmicks, no funny stuff, no teasing and baiting, just pure juicy info, to the point. Thanks !

+Gaming isnotacrime are there specific reasons you prefer After Effect to Premiere?
+Kenneth Everett I find the effects options to be much more user friendly in After Effects. Easier to color grade, stabilize footage, etc. After exporting from After Effects, I will usually import that footage into Premiere Pro and complete the edit with music, titles, etc.
Yeager Film what??
Charles, Im going to be teaching a class for Real Estate agents and would like to use a couple clips from this video if you don't mind?
That is fine, thanks!

Would the Parrot bebop drone be good enough for short film or even proper film cinematography?
+John Rambo I'm not as familiar with Parrot's drones, but I know they are growing in popularity. I looked up the specs I could find. Yes, I think they would be good enough for short film. Not ideal for commercial cinematography though. Hello everyone, can someone suggest me a low budget drone that is good for cinematic shots?
DJI Mavic, Spark or one of the newer Parrot drones.
the autel robotics x star premium is a really nice drone for the price
Gps shadow drone
Russel Cuervo phantom 3s refurbished for this time of year(holiday ) is 350
I wish my drone had a gimbal , this makes me cry :((
yavor cho lol What for drone do you got a 90dollar drone
Be nice to be able to afford one of these little gizmos.
Just build one
+NearlyLego That's pretty costly too.
Evan Roden not really to do videography yes but one to fly fps no
Grey John Oh. Cool.
Evan Roden look up 250 racing quad kit and buy a cheap 5.8ghz fpv system with a monitor that was my old setup and it worked really well and was only like $250 but now I'm flying the phantom 4 so I haven't used it much lately
“Charles Yeager for Tuts Plus?” If you weren’t mumbling; is that what you said?
bro, what is the risk of flying more than 150 meters?
This guy looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
were are the cat videos
If you could check these videos out on my channel and tell me your opinion about cinematic approach! I'd appreciate it! Keep up the good work!
everything he said dont do... I do....

Doesn't look like Brad Pitt but sounds like bill Clinton at times
You’re a moron.
You look like Brad Pitt
No he dosen't wtf?
+Patroy I'm going with Benicio del Toro mixed with Michael Carbonaro
Terrible exposure in most shots, just awful
Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge. This was very helpful.
what software do you use for video editing?
What software are you using to post process the drone video?
filmconvert pro 2
