Drones. An intriguing new technology for cinematographers!
But how do you shoot aerial video with professional aesthetics on a low cost drone? This was the question I asked myself and spent a week attempting to capture cinematic drone footage with a DJI Inspire 1.
I learned a lot in the process and decided to share some valuable tips. Here's the first part of my 3-part video tutorial series on mastering drone footage.

"Really think about what I want to convey..." I'm pretty fascinated with serenity, and you conveyed that beautifully! This world is so stressful sometimes, I want to remind people what peace feels like.
Your information is so clear and crisp. Thanks for being so humble through out the video. Cheers mate
You did a great job in helping others who want to learn and take up filming in a whole new manner. I will follow you moving forward. Thx
Thanks for this, and for thinking of others. You don't have your hand out looking for cash, you're doing it to help others and that is recognized and appreciated! Danke!
Just finished the whole video tutorial. Excellent! I took notice when you nove forward through the tree canopy in the beginning, on the running path, that the angle afterwards slowly diminishes the running path to the grass on the left then upward to the sky in a fluid motion. That is what I see. Your observations of all the surrounding shapes, angles and color give your talent and videos life. Good stuff.
This is truly stunning! Your job is awesome! Thanks a lot for your precious advices and to share your talent with us!
thanks just looking at drones and camera work. you footage just makes me want to do it and the advice was great.
This is fantastic advice, very well put together and your shots are truly stunning. We've just purchased an Inspire Pro and will be following your tips! Many Thanks

Beautiful aerial footage. This is one of the best videos I have seen on shooting aerial photography. Nice work.
Watch videos and subscribe to channel. I agree. Thank you.
Just watched the first minute of tit excellent video tutorial. I am speechless. Even after the 2 years since this had been uploaded it completely took my observance level to the next level. When the drone flew over the house and the mountains came into view in the deep backdrop, I can still see the purple and orange in them as I am writing this. Your talent for this is beyond words. This is no smoke blowing or apple polishing. Words are not enough. I will definitely enjoy the rest of this video.
You are just awesome. Looking forward an inspire one for a long time. Your footage is just amazing and your tipps are as awesome as well. Immediately subscribed your channel :)

Very cool video, insightful and clear to follow, thanks!
Hi there I'd just like to say that you really gave some great advice. This video is very informative! Thanks for reminding me of the 10 sec rule also. Seems that I so often forget about it once I'm actually up in the air shooting. Then during editing I say to myself "darn it if only this shot were a bit longer haha!!!" Beautiful work here, and over all an absolute amazing video! Thank you, Greg.
So many great Tips.
Added to my Aerial Cinematography Playlist.
Thank you, big time! Have been a still photographer all my life but just starting videography with a Phantom 3 Standard to learn the basics. I have a Mavic Pro on the way. Looking for more of your videos! :)
Stunning work ...... Just got my inspire 1.
Phenomenal footage and excellent tips. Thank you very much.
I'm a hobbyist photographer and that opened my eyes on how images are "manipulated" compared to "live" shots. This video did the same for me for videography. Thank you!
Awesome advice man. I agree with everything you say
10-second rule... Game changer for me. I have been SO guilty of this. I think the shot is crap, but then I get in post and it wasn't crap at all...but ruined by stopping. I am employing the 10 second rule starting today. Thank you! Subscribed.
Fantastic advice coupled with wonderful footage
