Back in 1983, I met a woman who reminded me of Jan Smithers as Bailey Quarters. Blue eyes, long honey blonde hair, glasses, and a slender figure. We were married in 1990 and have been going strong ever since.
Right there with you, although I must be three or four years older than you. As I was in early 20’s when I started crushing on her. Look at recent photos of her. Obviously she has aged, but oh so gracefully. And she still has that wonderful sparkle in her eyes.
Exactly! Jennifer was the girl everyone wanted to take out Friday night, but Bailey was you all weekend girlfriend! Jan Smithers in those painted on jeans and tight sweaters drove me crazy. But if she wasn't in the scene you had always had Loni Anderson and her knockout body and great looks to gaze upon! Late 70's-early 80's sitcoms rocked!
Jennifer and Bailer were like a Lamborghini and a Bullitt Mustang. Everyone admires a Lamborghini and wants to drive one once, but also knows they're expensive and high maintenance. Everyone wants a Bullitt Mustang because it's high performance, and you want to keep it forever.
If I were unable to afford the Lamborghini and lacked the ability to handle its high-maintenance, it would not be the fault of the Lamborghini. While I naturally prefer the Bullitt Mustang, I would definitely want to drive the Lamborghini many more times than once. Now, excuse me while I tell Steve "Frank" McQueen to "get the hell out of my Mustang!"
I was about to post the same thing. Her arc in the show was the most pronounced as she went from very shy to very self assured without losing that quality that made her very relatable.
Damn she was beautiful! And on top of that she lived in Halifax for a few years! I wish I knew! No T and A, No leg show! Conservatively dressed. Absolutely gorgeous! One of the prettiest women on TV ever!
The ideal woman? She finally comes home with you for the night. And you wake up in the morning and she is even more beautiful than the night before. Bailey is one of these women.
Great compilation! You covered it all. The sweet inocent, nervous Bailey, playing the stoner Bailey, the strong self confident Bailey, the Sexy Bailey, the philosophical Bailey, the joking Bailey, the technically inclined Bailey the international syndicate Bailey...etc etc. (Plus as an added bonus, you reminded me that Les figured out that whole Jimmy Hoffa thing!) 👍🤪🤣
Hey thanks! It would be cool if Jan Smithers saw this one. Hope she would like it. I liked Venus's comment at the end.. because I worked swing shift at a newspaper and couldn't wait for all the suits to leave at 5pm too!
Did you notice that she and Les are looking straight across at the guy? Bailey says he's on the 16th floor. WKRP was on the 5th floor. Shouldn't they have been looking up?
Another show to watch, man the old sitcoms are cool. thanks for introducing me to this masterpiece. it's called "WKRP in Cincinnati" for those who wants to know the name [like me]
I originally wasn’t going to comment, and then I watched her say “big boy” with those beautiful eyes, and hair and cheeks and lips and I had to say something…she makes me melt every time I see her.
Lol, I think it was around the time of this show, long before the internet, that I remember seeing a picture of a business sign advertising t-shits for sale. I think it was in L.A.
She’s the one who convinced Andy to get Rev Little Ed Pembroke to stop hawking his “Dead Sea Scroll Steak Knives” on his Sunday broadcast. By reporting him to the IRS for an audit. Next to the Turkey Drop episode, that one ranks a close second. 😅😅😅
This arguably thee best Bailey composition ever posted on RUclips. Thank You David for all your effort. This was such a wonderful dose of nostalgia and great memories.
Dave K you have great taste! Love The Honeymooners, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Taxi “What do you do when you come to a red light?” But WKRP tops them all and what a Doll Bailey is love her!
Thanks! I put her friend Farfel the dog next to her too. YT analytics show most people skip the end credits and miss the stinger I put in most of these videos. I thought this had a good one.
I’ll never forget my mom griping at my dad for “liking that woman” on WKRP.. And I was like, Lonnie Anderson?.. And she said no, the other one.. And then my dad enviously quipped “Jan Smithers”.. lol..
@@cancersurvivor9992 This is all fantasy. I do not expect either of us are ever going to get our hands on Bailey. As long as I'm fantasizing, I'm fantasizing that I can handle and rein in some of Jennifer's high maintenance. I've always preferred Mary Ann, but I never "fantasized" about being forced to choose one over the other there either. If Jennifer wants three hours to get ready for a night out, my fantasy of the other 21 hours makes it damn worth it.
That’s a good question, thanks for asking. Wikipedia says ‘WKRP in Cincinnati is an American sitcom television series about the misadventures of the staff of a struggling fictional AM radio station in Cincinnati, Ohio.’ IMDB says,’When a Cincinnati radio station switches from sedate music to top-40 rock 'n' roll, its staff of oddball characters has to switch gears quickly.’ Streaming on Apple TV and Roku.
Off topic. HH was perfect as a Rock DJ. I always picture him when I listen to Jim Ladd. A famous DJ in Los Angeles. He was on KMET and KLOS in LA. Now on Sirius.SWrote a book called "Radio Waves. And a good friend of Tom Petty. Tom wrote the the song "The Last DJ" inspired by Jim.
They left out the one where she's flipping lit matches at Herb's polyester suit. But a nice selection nevertheless. Loved the stylish outfit in the Wolfgang bit at 9:26. Dressed up or down she was always hot.
Bailey didn't need makeup or blonde hair to be gorgeous and don't get me wrong, Jennifer was smokin, but give Bailey some tight jeans, a T shirt and those nerdy glasses and Wow🥵🥵🥵
Jennifer was across the street hot. She looks good from across the street, but once you get on the same side of the street you see how thick the makeup is, how plastic the hair looks, and just how high maintenance she would be. Bailey is the kind of women you could spend the rest of your life with.
Season 2, episode 21-22, ‘Filthy Pictures’ Bailey was teasing Travis for being in a swimsuit photo shoot with Jennifer. I like the way she just cut Herb off at the knees when he tries to hit on her.

70's jeans were MADE for Bailey 🥰
If you mean those black tailored slacks. Yeah,!
@@bgold2007 Venus was a DJ and a tailor?!

Who wasn't?
Get in line Bub, get in line!!
Bailey is the total package.
I absolutely adored Bailey. It was another Ginger or Mary Ann situations. I always went for Mary Ann and Bailey. The ultimate girl next door.

WROWRRR…!
Me too ; so sweet and cute ❤
Mrs Howell & Mrs Carlson for me...
Jan Smithers' comedy and acting chops seriously underrated. It was a great show with a truly one of a kind cast.
WKRP had an absolute dream cast, and Jan/Bailey was so perfect in all the situations in which she was placed.
Bailey is SO ADORABLE!!!

Jan Smithers was a gem on the show. She had a great character arc.
I was about to post the same thing. Her arc in the show was the most pronounced as she went from very shy to very self assured without losing that quality that made her very relatable.
Without the very lovely Loni Anderson you wouldn’t notice the complete opposite of the character that Jan Smithers brought to the character.
Bailey is sooo beautiful!!
Watched originally for Loni.
Came back for the TRUE beauty of the show, possibly the most underrated TV hottie of that entire era...
When this show was on we didn't know how good we had it! Sigh!
What a great video. I could watch another several hours of Bailey. Just a beautiful woman in so many ways. ❤❤❤❤
Excellent video honouring an above average actor who stole my heart decades ago!
And she's still pretty...
13 minutes of Bailey. What a way to remember my high school years. Yabba dabba do.
Damn she was beautiful! And on top of that she lived in Halifax for a few years! I wish I knew! No T and A, No leg show! Conservatively dressed. Absolutely gorgeous! One of the prettiest women on TV ever!
The scene wearing Johnny's shirt is the best she did.

She sure is. My kind of lady. She is awesome. That look..that smile...the sound of her voice. She melts my ♥. Very adorable..very sexy...wow!!!
Bailey is adorable. Had a big crush on her back in the day. This is one of my favorite TV shows.
Bailey was the Mary Anne of the 70's - everyone liked her WAY more than Loni..
Bailey melted me like butter in the Arizona sun. She was to "hot," as hot is to cold!
I've always loved the fresh-faced cuties like Bailey over the receptionist with the foofy hair. That name is cute too.
Absolutely loved her performance in "the consultant". All the women shined in that episode

Dave K ! You rock
One of the most beautiful women on tv.
Bailey Quarters , the ALL AMERICAN GIRL ! Jennifer was beautiful Bailey was approachable AND Adorable.
The opening scene of Bailey and Les looking out the window, sharing a quite moment is one of my favorite in the series
Did you notice that she and Les are looking straight across at the guy?
Bailey says he's on the 16th floor.
WKRP was on the 5th floor.
Shouldn't they have been looking up?
I always liked how Bailey was the only one who didn't have to "knock" on Les' door.
I fell in love with Bailey with the "M&Ms" scene.
I loved bailey.
what a great series.
the thankgiving show with the flying turkeys will live forever.
The guy she was acting stoned with was Palmer in “The Thing”. The “you gotta be f*cking KIDDING!” guy.
I mostly remember him from multiple "Barney Miller" episodes. Coincidentally, one of them was about a Russian trying to defect.
8:00 Bailey in jeans with her hair mussed - SIGH! How could anyone even look at Jennifer when Bailey was around? The woman was a GODDESS!
Right on! Bailey Rules!!
Make that a GODDESS N A HALF! Just saying.
Totally agreed she had more sex appeal and wit more than jennifer plus there wasnt a guy that didn't crush hard on her .😍😍😍
Actually, she's still pretty hot even now...
My jaw hit the flippin floor when she walked in. And toward the end of that bit, the 'little girl' eyes......
One of my favorite sitcoms, right up there with Taxi, brings back sooo many memories 😢, how I miss them Thanks mucn
Another Purely Natural beautiful Woman, God made, that's it
*Bailey was stacked!*
Love the segment at 2:00. Great interpretation of the Nestle' jingle. Johnnie must have been feeding her some "refreshments".
A truley great character what a part she Played!!! Neat

The Farful scene had me on the floor back when the show was originally on when I was in my twenties. Loved Jan Smithers.

What man in his right mind would ever turn Bailey down if she asked them out for a Date.
Oh Venus. "I'll be glad when all these white folks go home!" I'm laughing so hard I'm having a difficult time typing this. 🤣🤣🤣
Bailey wrote the book on the sexy librarian!🫶🏽🫶🏽
Missed the time she had a date with Johnny Fever, and he stood her up. Good scene for her.
Bailey is sooo beautul!!

Bailey......that's all I need....
She stole every scene she was in. Even if she was just atmosphere in that scene, all attention went to her.
bailey is a sweet nice girl the kind you could bring home to meet your mom
Ginger and Maryann. Bailey and Jennifer. My God.
Wow!
Jennifer: For the night/weekend.
Bailey: Forever

It's a shame Bailey refused to hook up with Johnny when they lived together for a few days. The story would have been better if she had.
