The one thing I miss from the video is communication. For the top end guilds, players know what they are doing constantly, but a bit further down the ladder, this is not the case. As a raid leader of a friends/family guild with small children, the amount of time they have is more limited and we are past the time of Heroic/Top en raiding a while ago. With that in mind, my job as a raid leader is explaining, which you cover, but also remind things during the fight. This might be something as simple as telling people to stand still in the Armageddons, make sure they don't tunnel vision during p3 of KJ so they dodge the obelisks etc. So in essence, I want to hear something about communication, if its from raid leader telling the raid. Communication during the fight, etc.
The video seems a bit off to me. Alot of it covers things that dont explain the nature of raidleading at all, let alone explains the difference between a good or a bad raidleader. Mentioning things like splitraids is an odd choice aswell, as guilds that participate in splitraiding are rather likely to already have leadership in charge that understand the base principles of raidleading. The most useful topic covered was the bit about stratprep, but it didnt properly cover how to do it. Fx. By using warcraftlogs to predict damage patterns or mechanic intervals. I wouldve rather have seen a video that touches on topics like a rl-ui much more briefly, but explained how to distinguish yourself as a rl by focussing the raids attention on certain mechanics, mechanic patterns, making decisive calls and how to do all of that with minimal discord-clutter so your raidmembers can still communicate with eachother without drowning your orders out. I think the idea behind the video is great and raidleading is something that isnt as hard or scary as people make it out to be with the right mindset and preparation.Videos like this could get people started, its great fun to be at the helm of a fight. But this video kind of misses out on what its target audience should be and what they need to hear to get their journey to becoming a good raidleader started. I hope you release another in the future thats more accessible to raidleaders-to-be.
I actually kind of agree. I'd want to know more about what happens mid fight, what is called etc. Top tier guilds are full of players that don't need to be told about boss timers and nasty overlaps etc, but most other guilds need a voice guiding their raid through the harder situations. The role of raid leader in a top guild is more about preparation than in game it seems, whereas most other guilds have the preparation done by people who release video guides etc, and so the focus of the raid leader is more about in game, trying to get the raid to execute the required tactic.
Hey, First, thank for your reply and feedback, I feel it helped with the posting on Reddit as we rarely get in-depth feedback on video ideas and such. There was a fine line to where we wanted to be with this video whether it was meant for people who wanted to get into raid leading or people who are already raid leading but looking to improve, you can see this such as you commenting on the rl ui etc. Think in the future for that reason we'll definitely go either one route or the other instead of trying to cater to a wider potential audience. We have plans for many videos like still especially relating to guides for the new raid etc. Again, I appreciate your feedback and I apologize for the delayed reply, - PlebCentral
Thanks- it's always good to get insight into how the top players set things up. The smooth jazz background music made me wonder what the game would be like if they played that kind of thing instead of the standard heroic/adventure music
It was interesting and for sure the seconds part of the video seems quite universal. However, now someone will have to explain to the majority of raiding community that they should not concern themselves too much about the first part of the video and spare some guild dramas in the future :)
Great guide for competitive guilds in any MMO who are trying to clear raids as efficient as possible. However, if you're not in a competitive guild, if you're just raiding with some friends or you decided to form a static with some guildies to see more content together it's not really necessary to play PTR or fill your roster with the best possible classes. Pro raiding guilds are used to stress and are able to clear almost every fight while being under geared for them, are very good at combining class utilities that allow for small nuke windows when they are used to full effect. When playing on a more casual level it's important to have fun and the raid leader role won't be nearly as stressful. Don't get me wrong, you'll still need someone who knows the fights and calls out mechanics, someone who can keep the team focused on the task at hand, ... Also don't bother with picking the best composition right from the start. Motivation is an important element when raiding. And motivating people isn't always the easiest thing to do if they have to play a spec/class they don't really like. While some classes and or specs are better than others I'm a firm believer that raid content should be able to be cleared with nearly any raid composition. Let people play what they want at the start, see if you can adjust later if those people are ready to do so.
Like the video Scrype. I recently became RL and it's been quite challenging hopefully some tips here will help. First I was healing and now I have switched to tank to try help my leading. Do you think I should just scrap this and tell people I'm playing ranged to see better?
hey man, nice video. i have a question. i noticed some of your raid frames highlight when they were affected with something, how did you get those frames to do that? thanks in advance :)
How to succesfully raid lead a pug? I'm doing it but it's become less of a pug and more of a solid group so I guess I'm doing something right, but I need tips on how to lead pugs... How to identify who and when to kick people, how to make sure everyone is on the same page when they click Ready, how to recover from a wipe when some randoms leave, etc.
How do you handle frustrating nights filled with repetitive mistakes on mechanics that should have been learned 100 wipes ago made by a different person everytime? I'm currently on KJ Mythic and the real frustrating part about RL'ing it is if you as a RL are able to do everything correctly for 90% of the night (while you are busy RL and doing your own shit) and you see others of your raid sequentially fuck up and end the try. How do you keep the motivation up for yourself to keep calling it out or to keep on "cheerleading" the raid eventhough people just keep on brainlagging one after the other but you know they are decent players overall? I understand that this might not be a problem for you as you guys are in Method and do PTR (we don't).
I have the same Problems like Rainbow Wing: It´s hard to decide on which way u talk after a wipe to the players who did something wrong. The first 10 times i try to keep it calm, explain the strategy again and try to get things on. But what about the 30-50 try ? sometime rdmly changing players fail on the same mechanics again and again, how do u handle this? Currently we r progressing Imonar and try to handle the boss like u did. the transitionphase one is allways a bit lucky part but ok, 2nd one we r able to stay alive as we stay together while waiting for the pala to sprint ober the bridge. But the we follow with a lock gate and a Rawr and during that the pala dies allway on 5-6mio hits from the bombstacks. so at the end two questions: How do u try to handle movement fails the change from player to player including how du u try to speak about it? and is there any hint u can give about how we can handle the transition better? Thanks for your time!
If you have a resto shaman, have him put an ankh totem at the end of the bridge after he takes the warlock gateway to ress the tank. If you dont, then use your battle ress instead. As for dealing with repeat offenders, everyone does it differently. In my opinion, raging does nothing to help so it's important to stay calm and objective about it. At the same time, it is important to call people out so they know theyre fucking up. "X, youve died to Y mechanic 3 times now, do you understand what to do or is it just personal mistakes?" If it is personal mistakes I just indirectly mention that I'll have to start replacing just to get the boss done. If done in a nice manor, 99% of people will understand. If you dont have the luxury of replacing then there's not much you can do apart from making sure they understand what to do. On the flip side, some raid leaders go absolutely bananas after 10-15 mongo wipes because the raids playing poorly, and it shakes people into playing better. Im a fan of option one, but it depends on the person.
Thanks for your help. It's quit hard to progress some bosses every week again, cause some people fight on the borders of their competence. Worst thing is that we loose good players again after a while cause of that.
I healed and raid lead for a while...its do able but I found that too many people died during progress cause I was focused on leading the fight rather than keeping people up but you may be better than me so who knows😂
Good video, but title is a bit misleading. A person looking to raid lead a regular mythic guild or even heroic/normal gets next to nothing from this video. This video is solely pointed at people who are raid leaders in guilds who participate in world first races or similar quality. Nothing wrong with that, but maybe mention it in the title.
Roger has been the raid leader in previous tiers. Most of Legion however, Scripe has been the raid leader. Currently Roger is in charge of the Loot Council.

The layout of your UI is very nice, do you program everything yourself or do you have someone in your guild that sets it all up?
I’d love to see a guide on split raiding techniques.
That music in the background really classes it up
Scripe could make a career out of doing people’s UI in WoW. That thing is so immaculate.

maybe its the same guy or maybe not
NoZ Dotacinema I am

The viewport point was really interesting to me, gotta check that out. Thanks for the awesome video!

Nice video, but what about a guide on leading a guild ?
MOuhahaha

I have nothing to say but Thanks to help the wow community man ^^
and nothing about communicating during the raid?
What's the addon that shows the raid's most important cooldowns? Thanks for the guide
As a raid leader in mythic for the first time this has helped a lot. Currently 5/9 mythic tomb and I see a lot of points you made. Thanks for sharing
God has spoken!

you should make a longer, in-depth video IMO.
Hope to find a good raid leader like you in my game experience one day
Pretty neat Video! But I wonder which addon shows the CD's of other players? for example the turtle of a hunter in the group?
its called Exorsus raidtools
Thank you so much! I always looked for something like that but was never able to find something that suits my needs! :)
What is the addon for tracking externals?
What's the addon of that black bar at the bottom?

Is it better/easier to raidlead as dps or tank?
Slimshady Scripe master!

What are you using to track raid CDs? Weakauras or something else?
exorsus raid tools
Do you recommend against raid leaders playing a healer?
I healed and raid lead for a while...its do able but I found that too many people died during progress cause I was focused on leading the fight rather than keeping people up but you may be better than me so who knows😂
Which addon do you recommend for raid CDs tracking?
Would have been funny if you said "bye, have a great time" at the end.
greatly done!
Look at damage taken instead of damage done.
Can you link the weak aura for CDs/personal please
Isnt better to play tank role as RL?
tell me more papa
Remember when kuznam was raid leader and top of dps meter? That's because there won't be a better person for the job than him. Good times.
rogerbrown is still raidleader?
Rogerbrown wasn't raid leader before scripe it was kuznam
*REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

Thought the same
Roger has been the raid leader in previous tiers. Most of Legion however, Scripe has been the raid leader. Currently Roger is in charge of the Loot Council.
wasnt Kuznam the RL pre legion
as if a world top 400-500 needs "best classes" to kill a boss LUL
cmon guys, you can do better!
