    you chuckle about bandwidth but that's exactly how project managers and producers in business talk about their team's ability to work effectively. it's a real thing. playing and raid leading is about having insanely good context switching. sacrificing your own abilities to support your group is insanely hard and takes a ton of bandwidth,

    IMHO this is what has been missing in the raid community to raise raiding execution holistically, thank you for doing this.

      Agreed. Started organizing my own raids in classic wotlk and was looking around for tips and info about RLing and its so sparse!! I was surprised.
      But these days we're clearing everything at a solid pace(we're one of the fastest on our servers horde side in clearing ICC and i would say a lot of that is thanks to Maximus videos helping me improve cause my group are all great individually. 😁

    Been watching this series to attempt to get better at raid leading in my static in ff14. I know 2 completely different games but it still gives me alot to think about. I used to tell my static to not fully rely on callous and to learn mechs by yourself, but now I understand more that yes some mechanics players should learn by themselves if they have RNG aspects to them but alot of the static things I can call out and they can be more focused on other things. Thanks for the helpful videos.

    Thank you @maximum for these vids. Even though I'm just co-RL in a HC guild that dabbles a bit in Mythic, these are very helpful and tbh also very encouraging. High end raiding has a bit of hostile machismo to it and your approach is a very welcome counterpoint to that. It is clear that you understand management and leadership, I look forward to hearing more about what you have to share on RLing.

    Hey Max. Thank you for these videos. I have always wanted to raid lead but never got a chance until this tier (I took a break after Cataclysm). We just finished our first night after the move and while we did have to pug some people, my officers and GM that I raided before on a different server told me there was a noticeable difference in how I was raid leading and that everyone played better. It was all due to watching these few raid leading videos.

    Discovered your videos recently as I'm getting back in PvE.
    Can't help but agree with all of your views on PvE, I strongly dislike guilds that point fingers towards 'poorer' player and assume everyone should focus on mechanics always, minimal call out, and top players thinking they're getting dragged down.
    Good leadership ensure that you bring out the best out of your group, bad one alienates the group towards itself and perception that it's the other one's fault.

    on hungering there is usually 1 person in each of our marks that is good at calling, the RL made it so the healers have top prio to stay on the mark they are close to when the WA or what ever gives you a marker. was rough at first, but ppl have became quite good at handling themself then newer players get thrown toward a certain mark where they are more heavily controlled

    Raid leading is legit 100% exactly like any "real" job that´s about management and leadership. xD
    That´s why alot of good leaders in WoW have group management jobs IRL.

    • @HyenDry
      @HyenDry 3 года назад +3

      Yeah I wish..... The amount of management I do for my guild, I'm disappointed my IRL career doesn't give me the opportunity to be a manager.

      it's also the same frustration that you meet in IRL. Normal Raiders stand in Fire, Normal Workers Slack of work and don't get their jobs done. But I can confirm guild and raid-leading is 100% like leading a company. Also Freelancing is like puging.

    Love the vid man! Got one question though, and you probably said that you were gonna make a vid about it. Is there any preferable or specific role (dmg dealers/healers or tank, that is the most viable to raidlead? And should you also have one calling out healing rotation cds, or should that go with the raidleader also?

  • @linkinparktilldeath1
    @linkinparktilldeath1 3 года назад

    As the RL for my HC focussed guild, I found it hard at points to play a tank because i was always trying to make sure taunt swapping and boss positioning was correct, which caused me to lose focus on the fight as a bigger picture. So I switched to dpsing and now i play fury warrior in CA. My dmg isn't great because well warrior, but i can do my rotation with my eyes closed and my full focus can go to the fight. It's extremely satisfying to achieve curve with my guild like we did last week and i'm not even mad that im mid/bottom tier dps. As to what I find most important as a RL, is indeed guiding other players through the fight and teaching them, whilst communicating in a way that I keep their respect.

    One advantage I have is I have played my hunter since vanilla- so I can play at a decent level with basically no thought given to it.
    But one of the biggest misunderstandings raiders have about good raid leading is just how much attention and brain power it does take to do it properly. I’m the eyes and ears for 19 others. Any one thing I can take off them is one less thing they have to worry about.
    It actually developed into a meme with my guild- my raiders would ride me about my DPS and I would respond with “I have to raid lead!” But on the flipside, my goal with my roster is for me to be bottom DPS. This in turn brings out the competitor in me making me better. A healthy raid should be one big positive feedback loop.

    As a raider in a mythic guild. How would you recommend a raider address an issue where a raider clearly under-performs. Consistently. Were talking 220+ ilvl warlock. (Swaps between demo and destro. Mains demo.) And caps around 5k burst cd dps and sustains between 2k-3.5k in mythic raid. Seeks no assistance to get better. Raid logs. And the only positive things that I can say are that he's a good person and consistently shows up. (Were fighting roster boss atm)
    What overall impacts do you think this has or could have on the raid group as a whole, morale, respect for the RL, things like that.
    And how would you recommend addressing the raid leader who seems to be OK with bringing him just to make 20.
    (As a side note, this individual also regularly causes wipes on mythic Inerva and Xymox.)
