- Jarrod from Barrel King has proven time and time again he can blend with the best of them, constantly using younger whiskey than most and creating an older profile a lot of us have fallen in love with. EverNorth Spirits is about to release our first Bourbon blend and Jarrod flew up from Barrel King to teach us how to blend whiskey!
Huge Shoutout to Jarrod for coming up! Check out Barrel King to get some of his blending projects:

I take for granted just how much “meh” whiskey is out there and how hard it is to take it, blend it with other “meh” whiskey and make something actually enjoyable. Kudos to you all!
this is easily the coolest video you guys have ever done.
This might be the best video you have done Fantastic perspective on blending whiskey
I started watching you guys in early 2019 (back when y'all were still lifting, btw!) and I've watched nearly every single one of your videos since. It's been a wild ride watching you grow and evolve.
I signed on yesterday morning during my morning coffee and cigar then realized this was for today... so here I am again, coffee and stogie in hand!
I hope this will be available at the distillery! This has been my favorite Bourbon RUclips video of all!!!!! Thank you so much for the behind the scenes look, I’m so interested in this type of stuff. My dream would be to be able to experience this in person!
These are the videos I love! you get to see all the science and whatnot involved with developing a strong blend
More of this! Behind the scenes making whiskey is the best.
This episode is so much fun! Thanks for sharing the process!
Love it guys! Can’t wait to get my hands 🙌🏾 on a bottle and review it myself. Keep up the awesome work guys!!
I can tell you have creative brains. I would have taken some of everything after the base, made a spread sheet and done a couple of dozen finish variations.
Logged all the percentages and done blind tastings the next coupe of days and then blend the winner afterwards. 🏆
So excited to add this to the collection!
Excited for this show!! Looking forward to it!! Cheers everyone! Sean I hope your son is doing very well!
What a fantastic video watching you guys make this blend. I am crossing my fingers to get one on Monday. Great job and Jarrod is a wizard.
The lable on that bottle is epic, and the whiskey description sounds tasty. Now I just need enough cash Ola to buy one or two or 20 of these, lol.
Congrats
God bless.
So, so cool!! Love what you guys are doing and can't wait for this blend!!
Very cool seeing it come together! Living the dream!
So stoked to get one of these!
This seems great!
I am amazed. " we have to add a finish". I didn't know that's how it's done.
This was a great video. Very interesting. Can’t wait to get my bottle!
We need the stories and this is part of it. Next time you need all the trips or picks and that process. Then the picks that go in the blend. Then have a youtube link on the bottle. Fill transparency is what we need to call it
Love how he talked about you being rural like Bourbon MO is a bustling metropolis 😂
Best video you guys have ever done
Cheers y'all
Your labels are gorgeous. Pure eye-candy.
Makes me want a case!
Good video
Great BTS video, loved this video and would like to see more content like this mixed in with your normal stuff. Now, how do I get a bottle? :-)
My brothers I can’t wait for a bottle of this juice!!! I think you should have named that bottle 12!!!
Any of your bottles coming to the UK by any chance?🤞
can't wait for this
i've tried screwing around with a "home blend".
chased some cheap whisky with alot of increasingly expensive whisky before it turned out decent.
killer label
I want it
where are these bottles available when they are released?
very nice , wish you the best, art and craft are 🤬🤬🤬 hard. but true art is getting what you want out of your materials in the end.
Where can I buy the products. I live in PA
Where are these available?
Nothing like screwing up your bottling line and having to repair it instead of tasting and having fun. So much for sleep pops.
Will these be available for delivery or anything else in the near future??
Release on the BJ patreon Monday. Will release at the EverNorth tasting room at a future date
This is cool as shit!! Shout out Jason Isbell… can’t wait to try this blend.
Is there a list of states somewhere to know if i join the patreon that I would be able to ship it to my home?
Go to bourbon outfitters (who they ship through) and put in a mock order. Will let you know if they ship or not. There is also a discord for patreons where people help get bottles where they need to go in case they don’t
@brandon_sprague thank you very much! Cheers!
What do use to plug the barrel when you drill into it?
There’s wooden plugs you hammer in
@@brandon_sprague if you want to sample it again later do you pull that plug out or drill another hole?
@@lukebowman7707 drill another. The plugs swell up and plugs the hole.
@@brandon_sprague interesting. Thank you for the information.
Absolutely fascinating. Blending is where science meets witchcraft. I have a dumb question, but it bothers me: you drill samples from 3 different MGPs, a couple of Sagamores and other stuff of various mashbills and ages, etc. You put them into Glencairns barely adequately labeled IMHO. The blending looks like you're eyeballing it. Not precisely marked graduated cylinders. All while doing a LOT of sampling. How do you keep track? Best video ever, by the way.
How do you get a bottle?
Richard Ramirez approves this message
Where'd the awesome sign come from? 😅😅
Some guy in Ohio I hear 😂
Whatever you're paying Jarrod, it isn't enough
Can Sean possibly spill more whiskey in the first minute of the video 😂
Much want
Who’s that Dan guy? He’s cute.
Sorry riki, dan is taken
didn't this video already drop?
How many bottles have been lost by those barrel dumps!
We got a bigger trough to stop this lol
Blending is hard
Better give that great king jarrod at least a point on the profits. I mean I'd give him 20 but that's just me. How do we get some in colorado
I'm a call away if you ever need help blending....
Honest response. With all the respect to Jarrod and Bourbon Junkies I see some issues with blending. First you have to find the whiskies with matching profile. Barton and MGP kind of OK, but not the best match. Possibly Sagamore adding good notes. Secondary you have to mix it in certain proportion to get good nose and pallet. (I guess you keep it confidential) And third I would add some finish notes to the blend (French oak, sherry, toasted barrels or oak toasted chips/spirals, etc. use your imagination ) I think with small batches you can play a lot. Good things there a lots of opportunities to create your own best blend ever ;-). Trust your nose and pallet!!!!
Barrel King really does love their YT influencers. Too bad none of these videos about Barrel King can be considered unbiased content. They make okay whiskey with very overpriced tags. Also they rely WAY too much on washing their whiskey by basically straining it through flavored barrels to avoid being a flavored whiskey. Not sure why they bother with the hoops since they don't sell to many retailers anyway. Just let you product be a flavor whiskey and get done with it.
Aren’t you guys tired of bourbon yet?😂 It’s such a one trick pony
What a dumb thumbnail. No bourbon is really that unique when you are using sourced product - even if that source is using whiskey that is "your mashbill". The difference between bourbon blends that are bourbon/rye/malt are not that different unless you are on the extremes. Most bourbon... tastes like brown sugar, barrel char, and the minerality of the water. There is variation, certainly, but it's unlikely two guys with a shed of whiskey barrels are grain experts are are experimenting as crazy as some people like Still Austin, Woodhat, Redwood Empire, or Andalusia. Most wild experiments with grain fail - at least for the mass consumer palate. You can get away with weird craft stuff but you won't get it distilled for you by someone else. They generally don't want anything to do with distilling oats, quinoa, or even butcher corn. When you are contract distilling you are very handcuffed compared to someone operating their own still.
You're cute, you seem mad at the world. Instead of typing out a couple paragraphs of an old/overused opinion by the entire scotch industry you could try and be creative and come up with your own ideas!
To push you back to reality, two of the bourbon mashbills in this blend had never seen market until late last year. Jarrod is someone I consider family. Whether you agree with pricing or not (which really doesn't matter if you don't like it don't buy it) he's a great dude and it meant the world to us that he came up to show us how he blends. He didn't ask us to film this and we didn't discuss it beforehand. This was filmed so people could see how our first bourbon blend was made and how Jarrod's mind works. If you don't like it, that's alright, move on chief. You seem like the kind of person that has to announce their exit and let's be honest... Nobody wants to be around that guy.
A barrel king product also came in third in a completely blind, whiskey of year lineup last year. So they seem to be doing something right (at least for our palates).
Fascinating to see this process, never seen this done before, so great viewing for me. I wish I could get a hold of one of those bottles here in the UK 🇬🇧
Are any bottles still available?
