So awesome that you’re showing off these smaller distilleries that are putting in the hard work to make great stuff. Just ordered their bottled in bond and the rye with your link. I’ll bring both of them to my local bourbon club meeting and let you know what we think! Great content as always, much love from Texas!

If a miracle happens and these bottles ever make their way to Canada, I would be honoured to support this distillery - the honesty and pride shines bright - I hope I get the chance to buy some.
Got one of the four grain picks. I am on travel in Normandie France, so had to get up at 3am to order it. Love that you are supporting these small distillers. Nice to have the chance to get something other than products from the big distilleries. Keep it up. Look forward to getting more picks.
Mississippian here and just picked up a bottle after seeing this video. Dang good stuff and great to see the care and quality coming out of his distillery and the great state of MS. A proud MS moment.
TJ, If you told this guy, one more time, what to do with his product, I was going to jump through the phone! Other than that, I love your videos! You are cordial and friendly to everyone and that’s what I love about you. Good stuff all around.
I would propose that you take a trip up North to Three Oaks, Michigan to get a barrel pick from Journeyman Distillery. The distillery is set up in an old factory which used to use baleen from the whaling industry to make buggy whips and corsets. They make a 100% wheat whiskey that is phenomenal! They are 100% a small craft distillery, with gin, rum, vodka, in addition to their plethora of whiskeys. Small craft distillery, set up in a factory from the 1800's, making award-winning beverages. What more can you ask for?
I haven’t even watched yet but as a micro brewer of beer for 20+ yrs now. I can vouch that this dude is a rockstar because working with a living product like beer/ whiskey is a very fluid job daily tasks that change from day to day. I run a 1000gallon /60 barrel system and I know how many hours I put in every week. Don’t even want to know how many he puts in.
One needs something to believe in, something for which one can have whole-hearted enthusiasm. One needs to feel that ones life has meaning, that one is needed in this world.
Hey If you are ever up north, Chartermark Distillers in Boston, MA is under the Historic Tobin bridge and down the street from the Bunker Hill memorial! They go from grain to bottle all in Boston!
Great episode, Matt seems like a great guy just trying to live his dream. So I made the impulse buy with your link to get the traditional BIB & the rum finished rye. First time buying a BIB, first time buying a "store pick" & first time getting liquor shipped to me. Should be fun! :)
Amazing Video. I’m happy to see you helping those who need it. And thank you for being honest… Well done to all involved 🤝… I’m in Germany and looking forward to what’s next.
I don't really comment on youtube at all but I did want to shout you out for coming down here to check out Crittenden. I literally pass by every day on my way to work and have a bottle in my liquor cabinet right now.
From someone born in Huntsville, AL and married to a woman from Belmont, MS, Thank you sir for putting closed caption on the Mississippi man and not yourself since you live in Alabama! Made my day!!!😁 War Eagle!
I would recommend Red Brest barrel strength for a Irish whiskey and for a scotch try is The Classic Laddie no smoke or peat, Springbank 10 year kinda salty finish and a little smoke, Monkey Shoulder is a good entry level scotch, Johnny Walker Blue is AMAZING is it worth $250+ a bottle????
Man! Thank you for this video! Great to see how he is distilling his whiskey. I love that he did not and does not source his distillate. Can’t wait to get my hands on some of his bottles!
I have just come across your channel and me being new to bourbons it’s great to see his passion for making a quality product. Definitely a brand I’ll support.
So excited to try these out!! And just as happy as my taste buds will be, I'm happy to support cool small businesses like this. One of my favorite things about these picks is the opportunity to try something that's not distributed anywhere near my part of the US.
Both Cognac and Armangnac are brandies made from fermented grape juice. One of the key differences, other than that they are from different regions, Cognac is aged in French Limousin oak barrels, while in Armangnac they use French black oak. Cognac producers can add caramel as a coloring agent. Armangnac prohibits any additives; the color comes entirely from time in wooden barrels
Brandy is made from distilling wine. Cognac is distilled twice, Armagnac once, plus they generally use different grape varieties as well as the barrels you mentioned.
@@Matty88K True. I don’t think the average person has ever heard of Armagnac even though it’s a far older spirit than Cognac. Cognac has somehow overshadowed Armagnac, at least in the U.S. Everytime I mention it I get the “huh? What is that?” Look.
@@deanaltman6841Cognac production is over 210 million bottles/year. Total Armangnac production is 6 million bottles, less than 3% of Cognac's volume. I think that's the biggest reason. France exports more than 50% of annual Cognac production. That's probably why.
this is one of my favorite videos. so so much fun. This is an amazing distillery and a dream of mine. keep shining the light on these small distilleries. cheers.
TJ, you hated the whiskey from Bayou Terrebonne Distillers, LA 1. They just released a new Bourbon, Good Earth. I think you should check it out, its only 2 hours away from Kiln. The owner is a great guy who is really trying to help the downtown Houma area after it was destroyed during Hurricane Ida.
You have to visit Los Angeles Distillery. One of the first distilleries in Los Angeles to make bourbon. They have over 30 different mashbills and do everything in house. It’s only run by two guys! Also, the owner installed and designed the distillery himself!
already sold out of private select, 2 hours in, keep up the good work! what a fun watch, can’t wait to pick something up from the b team, i’m looking for something unique and exclusive, never mind the usual, you’re recommendations have always been good! boy isn’t it fun to get crazy flavors out of a bottle, i’m excited for the next watch!
This is great! I live above the bourbon trail in Kentucky. I love it. I went to Scotland and now I love scotch. I love experimenting with new small batch distillers. ❤❤❤
Silverback Distillery just outside of Charlottesville VA, mother daughter Distillery duo and phenomenal whiskey, if you end up going Ragged Branch is in Charlottesville itself and if you want to give malt a try VA Distillery CO is also in that area
Kiln also has Lazy Magnolia Brewing which was on the front end of the craft beer renaissance. There’s been plenty of beer and whiskey made in MS. Some legal, some not quite as legal.
If you find yourself in luray, va, stop at river hill distilling. Vertically integrated from farm to still. Amazing corn whiskey, and bourbon. All grain grown on prem
Holy Crap! I go out in the woods for a few days and come back this, get sooooo excited...only to find that all the bottles are already sold out...such a bummer...
If you like whiskey in sherry barrels try Glengoyne, they have their own sherry winery that was made ONLY to supply them with barrels. There is a really popular 21yo but i really like the 15-17yo they had a couple years ago. Really fantastic whiskey, try clean first and then also with a drop of water in it. REALLY nice.
My dad makes some of the best shine in this area been doing it for many many years this is always been my dream and I am going to do it this is my big plan here hopefully start next year with a distillery about this size on my 30 acres
Matt is a friend and a great guy. Has a law degree and masters of law in taxation and is smart enough to know that making whiskey is so much better than being a tax lawyer. Way to go Matt, your bourbon is great!
The next time you’re in Nashville you should make the roughly hour drive north to MB Roland. When there ask for Nick, one of the distillers, to give you a tour. They’re a small craft distillery doing fantastic things. Jackie Zykan has even sourced barrels for her hidden barn brand from them.
GREAT VIDEO SIR!!!! Next time you’re goin through East Texas, check out Tahwahkaro Distillery in Palestine Tx. They’re exactly the type of small distilleries you’re lookin for, and they’re putting out some good juice. Especially their Cask strength. Comes in between 128 and 132 proof
Great video, loved to way ya'll got along and then got an education on whiskey, would love to go on a tour of that distillery. Best of luck to the distiller, and to you and yours.

Hmm I gotta go do some searching in the family lineage.
For someone that whiskey doesn't have an effect on, someone's having a REALLY good and loud time. You keep on keepen on brother.
Love how painfully honest you are, it makes me want to try the products more than a pandering review would
its refreshing
I’m a bourbon guy and really appreciate the info you share. I’ve tried a few of the bourbons you’ve featured.
Glad you like them! Thanks for the support man!
The fact you said “I wanna be wrong it’s fun.” Like that’s a great mindset for personal growth.

Neither genius, fame, nor love show the greatness of the soul. Only kindness can do that.
I just watched some of your road trips so it was cool to see some of the guys you met on those trips join you. A bunch of whiskey nerds uniting.
