twitch's engineering is masterful? surely you aren't talking about their actual streaming tech? cause that is STILL behind competitors, e.g. yt their player interface is ok by now, but everything to do with automatic video quality selection is still pretty bad for anyone on a connection that isn't rock-solid. like, after all this time they still haven't figured out how to serve the best quality for a given connection without stutter. if your bandwidth is just enough to support, say, 360p, on youtube you'll get uninterrupted 360p. on twitch you'll switch back and forth between varying qualities and have several seconds of buffering every minute
I think you forgot to mention, which is arguably the biggest reason why Toast moved, is that he gets a bag of money that guarantees him a steady income for however long his contract lasts. So he doesn't have to worry about getting seen/streaming as often to not lose subs/viewers etc. Its a lot more laid back streaming compared to when you don't have a guaranteed income, which is one of the most important things when it comes to happiness. Same reason why Ninja moved over next to the money ofc, no need to be as competitive as on Twitch. And their RUclips channels are still there that post vids/highlights, so once their contract is over and their respective platform potentially isn't as lucrative as Twitch w/o the base income from the contract, then they can always move back and their RUclips audience will know and they'll get back to 70% of their old Twitch viewership w/o a probablem
I think that regardless of what you think, we can all agree that competition is good for Twitch, and will help incentivize changes that other platforms might be ahead on.

There is a difference in whining and explaining why a person makes certain choices. I did the second, altho that may be subjective. In my comment is no such thing as anger. I stream at Facebook Gaming and the delay there is about 15 - 20 seconds. Whereas Twitch only has about 5 seconds. That difference affects the overall experience for my viewers.

if your bandwidth is just enough to support, say, 360p, on youtube you'll get uninterrupted 360p. on twitch you'll switch back and forth between varying qualities and have several seconds of buffering every minute
Great videos dude love your stream also
I think you forgot to mention, which is arguably the biggest reason why Toast moved, is that he gets a bag of money that guarantees him a steady income for however long his contract lasts.
I think that regardless of what you think, we can all agree that competition is good for Twitch, and will help incentivize changes that other platforms might be ahead on.
competition is always good, but if you don't learn and improve from it then you will fall behind.
The UI is still crap - and the lag was surprisingly bad too.
Does anyone know what is the name of the outro music?
To br honest... RUclips and Facebook is the best. One thing that i hate on twitch is when you rewatch it especially youre on slow Internet but not so slow. Its soo slow to load even when you in mobile. It makes me feel bored unlike RUclips and Facebook. Me living with slow internet. I dont think so...
Twitch must know why they are letting most of their creators go.
Sports Max they’re too dumb to make any actual change to their platform
twitch would have to lose close to a 3rd or more of their viewer/streamer base to actually care.
Nash could be Vinny's twin from Jersey Shore
I think the truth is money
I tried explaining this move the day it was announced and people just couldn’t get the bigger picture.....
I do.
And i think Twitch also gains something from this.
cj pe it’s better oriented to his style of games reaching the global market. People don’t realize A LOT OF PEOPLE still don’t understand what Twitch really is
Twitch is even holding back the partners they have too understand why they want to leave and have a guaranteed income and potential for much larger audience over time.
I guess I'll never watch Toast again. Deleted Facebook years ago, and there is not a single thing that would bring me back to that shit. Unless I would get payed, lol. Money is a toxic yet powerful phenomenon isn't it?
John Wick Your whining like a child in the first two sentences betrays the attempt you made to show people your sophistication in the last.
The amount of self-righteous anger towards Facebook I’ve seen related to this event is hilarious.
There is a difference in whining and explaining why a person makes certain choices. I did the second, altho that may be subjective.
In my comment is no such thing as anger. Perhabs if you wouldn't be so emotional, you would've got my sinical joke about money.
I think there is only one of us filled with anger, and your passive aggressive comment might've spoiled who that is.
John Wick Passive aggressive? I thought it was rather blatantly aggressive.
Hmmm....
the problem with facebook is that the daily active users are mostly not from the us& canada or europe (asia-pacific alo is 50% bigger then the us+ca+eu combined)
just look the numbers up - its not much for the core audicence you want to reach especialy when you see that the us+ca+eu arent getting new DAU
the switch to fb gameing is something for asian streamers that market to that audience but not for an eu/us streamer ....
I stream at Facebook Gaming and the delay there is about 15 - 20 seconds. Whereas Twitch only has about 5 seconds.
That difference affects the overall experience for my viewers.
I have exactly 3,2 seconds delay on Twitch
It's only a small things but I hope your editor/you skip the mini intro before the "animated" intro, always had an issue with seeing part of the conversation out of context and would always skip it at the start of the videos, apart from that, my favourite content on Twitch and RUclips currently!
very interesting thank you
My nan isn't really interested in gaming
Would be really nice if partnered & affiliated streamers could add hyperlinks to stream titles. Would avoid all the viewbotted streams with 10k views to farm dodgy links.
RUclips is dog shit. Too many adds. I dont want ads at the end on videos.
I'm just getting into live streaming and I havent truly commited to a platform. I think I might commit to Facebook since its really likely Facebook will eventually link Insta live with FB live which wld b amazing since Instagram imo is the most discoverable platform of them all
retropetroleum still streaming on FB?
@@Dessert.Quesadilla ahhh sadly no, i'm currently conscripted so I'm still on twitch, havent had the chance to make the move. Thanks for asking though!
@@retropetroleum have you made the move yet? If you have how is it going? If not how come?
Cheers.
LOL Toast's move is 100% about money. It might APPEAR to be other reasons and if you look hard enough you might find some but it is 100% money.
Anyone else notice the numbers go to 100.1%?
I get the point: look at what it can be. But it's just not there yet!
also I think it's good to distinct that the subject matter on youtube and facebook can be "mostly" different types of streaming than what you see on mixer and twitch. The experience on mixer and twitch is that of chatting with viewers, while youtube and facebook it's more for shows, channel meetups, or if getting into youtube clickbait, or toxic communities. Having the experience you have on mixer and twitch just isn't there yet on these other platforms.
Lastly, Facebook may be one thing but lets hope youtube doesn't grow in this market. twitch is getting worse but there are still actual humans that work with their streamers.
I don't even have facebook lol, I enjoyed his stream, oh well hopefully scarra doesn't leave too, or at least go to mixer
i was the same, i only created an account because of toast.
That mixer part, didn't aged very well
Twitch is good for people who already have communities, if you're just starting off - you are literally wasting time, as they have no discoverability.
what about hitbox tho
But Facebook is dying slowly in general.
I’m just trying to smoke my meats how did I end up here... (I hope somebody gets this and I don’t look like a total dumbass)
Haters will be greatly reduced.
i like twitch i am used to it , most of the people i watch are on twitch, so there is no point at all for me to go and watch streams on facebook,. second of all , i don't even own a facebook account , reason is very simple, 2 much people care 2 much about what others think of them, and the likes is all people care about, i didn't want to be a social media zombie like my little sister for example,. and therefor i have no account and i don't want to watch on facebook or any other social media platform. i am just not interested
Sadly ALL of gaming and viewing is about $$$$,NONE of it is sincere .If we remove the money end then only the sincere gamer's and real people will be left.As a gamer and viewer i am not in the least interested in how much money people are making and am not interested in watching or following people who are only there for the $$$.
Gifting subs seems to be a huge advantage, I'm subbed to like 12 channels just from that. Also do you think having unique usernames on twitch is better than how FB & YT do it?
facebook gaming is never going to be big. facebook acts like google these days where they just do what other ppl are doing hoping to get some of that pie and take over.
Actually Facebook gaming is already big hear in Asia for about a year now maybe 2. Some Filipinos streamer are getting 20k views daily, Some Chinese, Indians and Vietnamese streamers gets 10k to 30k viewers daily. Edit: So I disagree with your opinion
You do realize a ton of people started on FB gaming to grow before Twitch....the only reason I got into twitch a couple of years ago was because of RUclips and FB gaming driven content.
@@immrbean1982 those are chump numbers compared to twitch.
@@shinobivice1800 well yeah top twitch streamers has more viewer counts but dude remember those streamers are famous around the world depending on their contents and most of the top Facebook streamers here in Asia are mostly famous on their own respectable countries
@@shinobivice1800 so don't belittle Facebook streamers here in Asia
the biggest step for twitch would be supporting offline content in the way youtube does.
VODs? or do you mean like edited videos
@@MrKiingpin both. right now you can only upload previous streams, not any kind of edited content. and if you want to view the vods you need to dig for them.
facebook is just a horrible platform. I don't ever see a reason to use facebook over twitch
The problem i have with mixer is i cant watch streams on my ps4
Theblackknight 70 mixer was a bad move for shroud and ninja they are gonna dissapear
J dawg BathesInYoTears i wasnt even talking about that wtf😭 where was i talking about shroud and ninja
devin as i watch these videos i cant help but notice, it seems you know ALMOST ANYONE who matters in this industry... how the hell are you sill this size lol
what are you saying why did you even reply... why do you think i posted what i did... where does fortnite come into play at.... who really cares about fortnite and why is your reply FORTNITE!!! none of what was talked about or what we are discussing has anything to do with that shitty game! if your suggestion is that people would rather watch fortnite videos vrs want to grow a youtube/twitch stream... those are 2 different topics and im still confused as to your reference... 12 year olds watch fornite videos content creators who want to be successful and look for advice come here!
@NAm Chu Van no idea but it just seems like they aren't used to being replied to with a valid point
For almost every 10 views there's a like, that'd be funny af if this dude lowkey botted his shit
went from 310 views, 31 likes, to 490 views 49 likes lmao
Nodays nobody has a facebook account boomer.
Basically why his there, Said by him on his first stream.
WE GOTTA SAVE RUclips!!!! 😢
Id trust amazon with my information more than facebook.
Ok, boomer.
This should be titled "My Truth Behind Disguised Toast's Facebook Gaming Move" Or your best guess but unless you know him personally and he told you than you are still guessing. Streamers never want to admit they do anything for money which is funny because money is what makes them do most of what they do. Even down to the games they play. Yeah you can always name a select few that do not but they might not need the money which is what they flat out say. Moving to another platform gives you the ability to do that since you just got a fat check and can do that. I love the fact that streamers are moving too. This will force Twitch to get better and fast. Same with the others that want to compete. This is good for streamers and viewers. Twitch might not agree but they did this to themselves.
