I just ordered a Mini 2 and I hope DJI adds the Mini 2 as compatible with the Smart Controller soon. I think the pressure from the competitors will help this happen.
Love your comparisons. The price of the Fimi dropped to the price of MAVIC SE lately and MINI 2 being the most expensive of this class. What's your opinion?
I just wanted to add in some commentary: 1) Fimi Mini Price = DJI Mini 2??? Hmm....not really. I say that because Fimi (and their resellers) are constantly having sales on the Fimi Mini. For example today on AliExpress the price was $366 and since the initial launch price of $319 I've seen it on sale for less than $400 most of the time. So the $459 price for the Fimi Mini is largely a price on paper. And at today's price of $366 that's a substantial discount over the DJI Mini 2 price...once you account for that price differential and the differences in taxes. And for some that price differential may be a key factor for purchasing it. And DJI very rarely (maybe once a year) does sales for their products..and even when they do it's frequently a discount on an complementary add-on product (e.g., discount on DJI CareRefresh, etc.) rather than the drone itself. 2) You ask why did Fimi ship initially with the drone with the Standard Battery (thus causing it to be >250grams)? Because the LiPo was not ready at the time when the drone was available to ship. The Pro battery won't be available until mid-June so Fimi had the choice of just having he Mini sit on the shelf for a month+ waiting until the Lipo battery was available or begin shipping with the Standard battery knowing that customer could always purchase the Pro battery if they needed the drone to be under 250grams. Yes I agree it would have been better if the Pro Battery had been available a month earlier at initial shipment of the drone but it wasn't I'm sure for good reasons. I really don't think it was lost on Fimi that the
I agree with you on point #3. However I think it's still too close in price and it's likely a placeholder for the "Pro" price. I still don't understand why they didn't bother to design the standard at 250 grams with the standard battery. I still think that is poor design/planning.
@@HalfChrome You do realize that there is no Pro Fimi Mini, right? There is only a Pro battery (LiPo) and a Standard Battery..other than that the drone is exactly the same. If you want it to be under 250grams you simply buy it with the Lipo Pro Battery. Regarding why they didn't design it to be under 250g with the Standard battery...I guess I just don't subscribe to the theory of incompetence or poor planning. I suspect there is a lot more to this story then some of us know. Having spent many years in electronics and manufacturing I've experienced many examples of Murphy's law and what may appear to be a strange decision from the outside may just a plan "B" response to an unavoidable reality (e.g., supplier fails to deliver a component on time...say a LiPo battery...so you have to scramble to find a less than ideal backup alternative..say a LiIon battery because that can be produced much more quickly and certified more easily because it relies on off-the-shelf 18650 batteries....even if it does put you slightly over the 250g limit...as a random example. 😉).
I get shipping it with the current battery. I get supply chains are all messed up right now. It could be like you suggest a plan B. Ship now with heavier battery. I get I’m playing Monday morning QB here. Hindsight is 20/20
''AVOID any Fimi Drones'' if you want long term support on the ios/android Apps and find spares parts on long term your way better with DJI. Fimi release new drone model year after year and stop updating/supporting the previous firmware/app of the previous drone. Its even hard to find replacement parts for a previous drone model of just 2 years...
i have the mini 2 and it is a good drone and will be getting the fimi, i also have mp2 and fimi x8 se and find that the x8 faster and lot quicker to turn ect but lacks the reliability of the fpv that the mp2 has, end of the day it is swings and roundabouts and how much you have to spend as both are good products. hubsan is a different case i had a couple of their drones and i would not rush out to buy another !!!!!
DJI mini 3 should be coming soon . Name might be different, but it's coming. I wonder what the specs are going to be, considering Mini 2 is already best one under 250g, the 3 should have some decen upgrades.

Have bought some drone stuff off Ebay and been very pleased. Some FPV equipment and a phantom 4pro. Couldn't beat the $, and most I see going used are low time units that probably spent most of their life in a closet. Worth a look! Also look at the entry FPV kits. While I really enjoy flying my photography drones, racing around a course inside the house is an absolute blast. Also will encourage an understanding of electrical components.
@@k1ortia The range is my biggest problem with the Mini. I can only get a maximum range of about 300 meters. After 200 meters, the connection becomes weak. Technically, you are only allowed to fly in visual line of sight in most countries though which is about 200 meters.
I think it's great of have more drones for consumers to choose from, but I don't like it when companies blatantly rip off the designs of their competitors. Couldn't they come up with a completely new design?

Have you ever skeletonized a drone case to reduce weight by 20% or so? Leave enough for structural integrity. It does open up to contamination and huge increase in drag, but lots of extra plastic that can be removed from legs, arms, body, battery case, etc.
For me I don't like the idea of having to register what amounts to a damn toy. Thats why I almost bought a traxxas had it not been for the mini 2. I love flying this drone. It works so well. I can see room for improvements if they were to make a 3rd version but otherwise I love it. Next rc will be an xmaxx or trx6. Only way I'd part with the mini 2 is if they make a mini 3. Then I might consider trading up.
@@k1ortia another thing ive learned to hate is all these damn helicopters in my area Skagit valley. you name it we got it. im not supposed to fly over 400ft AGL and these assholes are buzzing the tree tops. seen it and my house sure felt it. if im not allowed over 400ft i wish theyd stay above it. given where im located im between their departure and destination points and the surrounding neighborhood is almost 400ft higher than my house so a cruising altitude of 400+ft shouldnt be unreasonable. im moving soon and best i can tell there wont be as much low altitude air traffic where im going, WY.
A tiny drone is hard to see from an actual airplane. But they could still do some damage. Sure, you could get away with not registering. But the whole point isn't to control you but to ensure you know the bare minimum to fly safely. It doesn't control you in the slightest. You can still fly like an idiot after getting a drone registered. If you are immoral and want to dodge accountability if your drone crashes into someone or their property, don't register. The FAA isn't eyeballing everyone flying drones. But they do tend to show up for serious injury or property damage claims.
Yes, Xiaomi is definitely not as refined as flight stability, especially when hovering. That makes my X8 not as usable as DJI when shooting top down view point shots.
Good for Dji i hope they will make better one then Dji then the arrogance can go away. Dji is good to blame pilot if u lose the drone. and now i can take other mini drone brands 😃😃
To be clear there is no "Pro verion/standard version drone" - confusing as it is, only the BATTERY is pro/standard. The pro battery fits and works in the shipping model. I know because my replacement just arrived with a pro battery - Fimi compensates for user shipping costs with batteries. Fortunately they cross-shipped a replacement to me when a minor crash killed the GPS module on mine.
If your drone is under 250 grams and you use the video or photos for the "furtherance of a business", then it indeed must be registered for commercial flight. When registering look close there are 2 choices, recreational and commercial! I almost hit the wrong one. Under 250 you aren't required to register for "recreational flight". Also takeoff weight must be UNDER 250grams, so, 249 ok not 250... adding landing gear basket or prop guards to the mini immediately bring it over 250 grams.
I watched this video thinking that this will feature the Hubsan Mini Pro, as indicated in the title. I was wrong. This focused on the Fimi Mini and DJI Mini.
I'm in the market for my first drone and would love to go with a mini version. I don't really care much about brands. Nevertheless, I do like the DJI mini 2 for it's stability and the camera (I do like the shots of it a bit better), but the lack of a trace feature is a deal breaker for me. Still don't really know what to do. 🤔

@@HalfChrome thanks for your response...I will wait for your review before buying fimi...I also see on Amazon a new drone contixo f36 I think that has 3 axis gimbal and looks good on paper but is a bit expensive for what it is...contixo tells me they are going to make additional batteries available soon because who wants a drone with only one battery
Nice review.. I'm looking forward for Hubsan Zino Mini Pro review vs Mini Fimi and MM2.
Thank you for this great side by side! I need follow me for my application so I can’t get the obviously better Mini 2. Come on, DJI. If I fly it into a tree it’s on me!
I only have one deal breaker with drones, DJI has built in NoFlyZone lists, the others do not. There is literally no place I can go in town where my friends mini1 will lift off. Given similar feature sets, and the same price, i will take a non DJI drone every single time.
Really insightful. Thank you
I just ordered a Mini 2 and I hope DJI adds the Mini 2 as compatible with the Smart Controller soon. I think the pressure from the competitors will help this happen.
Smart controller poo. My iPhone 11 does the exact same thing as it. 700$ remote for a 400$ drone xD
Love your comparisons. The price of the Fimi dropped to the price of MAVIC SE lately and MINI 2 being the most expensive of this class. What's your opinion?
Mini 2 is still the best
ahhh the inafamous vignetting on the fimi drones still persist till today. for this reason, DJI mini still wins in camera quality
I just wanted to add in some commentary:
1) Fimi Mini Price = DJI Mini 2???
Hindsight is 20/20
Excellent as always. Looking forward to your Hubsan mini, Bugs 16 and Bugs 19. Mjx has been around a long time...I still have my Mjx f45 heli.
I’m an MJX fan
I always enjoy watching your videos
Glad to hear it.
the little beast dji mini2
''AVOID any Fimi Drones'' if you want long term support on the ios/android Apps and find spares parts on long term your way better with DJI. Fimi release new drone model year after year and stop updating/supporting the previous firmware/app of the previous drone. Its even hard to find replacement parts for a previous drone model of just 2 years...
As a xiaomi phone user, i can relate to this. Not buying any other products other than it's phone
Lol
The X8 mini is overweight as standard. It's NOT a sub 250 drone.
Great comparison thanks for sharing bro
i have the mini 2 and it is a good drone and will be getting the fimi, i also have mp2 and fimi x8 se and find that the x8 faster and lot quicker to turn ect but lacks the reliability of the fpv that the mp2 has, end of the day it is swings and roundabouts and how much you have to spend as both are good products. hubsan is a different case i had a couple of their drones and i would not rush out to buy another !!!!!
DJI mini 3 should be coming soon .
Name might be different, but it's coming. I wonder what the specs are going to be, considering Mini 2 is already best one under 250g, the 3 should have some decen upgrades.
The new mini is a budget drone that is worse than mini 2. Its called Mini SE
@@TheFbiFilesRepeat I've seen that one, doesn't mean mini 3 ain't going to come. DJI has to keep up with the competition.
@@rauliuxaa mini 3 is coming but not anytime soon. Next year maybe
@@TheFbiFilesRepeat if competitions comes up with somth better than mini 2, they have no chance but to release that early, because they don't want to lose to competition, because how the prices work in the market.
We'll see tho
2:48 you didn't click the battery in place! Was waiting for the click lol.
I wanted to buy Dji mini 2 but 4k@60fps would’ve been nice
Thank You For Your Great Explanation .
Glad to help
Thank you. Very helpful. Did you say that DJI Mini has a tracking mode (follow me)?
Sorry, not a native speaker.
It does not
@@HalfChrome Thanks a lot
I would love to have a drone to fly with my teen son bought him one but can't afford my own
Have bought some drone stuff off Ebay and been very pleased.
You can take a look at the used market to get a bargain. I got my Mavic Mini with 3 batteries for 235 euro which flew less than an hour.
Nice deal
@@je4a301 Hows the range going for you?
@@k1ortia The range is my biggest problem with the Mini. I can only get a maximum range of about 300 meters. After 200 meters, the connection becomes weak. Technically, you are only allowed to fly in visual line of sight in most countries though which is about 200 meters.
for sparepart and afterservice I choose for mini 2
Mini 2 all the way!
I think it's great of have more drones for consumers to choose from, but I don't like it when companies blatantly rip off the designs of their competitors. Couldn't they come up with a completely new design?
Maybe not…
Hi I have the mini2 thanks from watching all your reviews on it. I love it taking so many nice videos and stills of my hometown here in the Chicagoland area.
However I didn’t know what I know now and I was really hoping to have follow me tracking on it. Do you think in a future update dji might provide us with this feature?
What are your thoughts?
Thanks again love your content both on RUclips and TikTok
Thanks. I dont think they will add it. It separates it from their more expensive drones.
For the beginners, I think the DJI MINI 2 IS THE BEST!
Have you ever skeletonized a drone case to reduce weight by 20% or so? Leave enough for structural integrity. It does open up to contamination and huge increase in drag, but lots of extra plastic that can be removed from legs, arms, body, battery case, etc.
No
Nice
The first batch of Hubsan minis have been plagued with bugs.
Not surprising
For me I don't like the idea of having to register what amounts to a damn toy. Thats why I almost bought a traxxas had it not been for the mini 2. I love flying this drone. It works so well. I can see room for improvements if they were to make a 3rd version but otherwise I love it. Next rc will be an xmaxx or trx6. Only way I'd part with the mini 2 is if they make a mini 3. Then I might consider trading up.
You dont have to. Just fly sensibly and use common sense. Registering is nothing but yet another form of control
Great video as usual my friend 👍I got the mini 2 but I'm going to wait to.see how the mini zino turns out 😁
It will be interesting
almost all reviewers forgets or cant see the solid vignetting on the sides. like come on... it's been persistent since the fimi x8 se.
Yes, Xiaomi is definitely not as refined as flight stability, especially when hovering. That makes my X8 not as usable as DJI when shooting top down view point shots.
The DJI mini 2 is next level
Yes it is
Passando pra prestigiar aquele like e
Good for Dji i hope they will make better one then Dji then the arrogance can go away.
Dji is good to blame pilot if u lose the drone. and now i can take other mini drone brands 😃😃
To be clear there is no "Pro verion/standard version drone" - confusing as it is, only the BATTERY is pro/standard. The pro battery fits and works in the shipping model. I know because my replacement just arrived with a pro battery - Fimi compensates for user shipping costs with batteries. Fortunately they cross-shipped a replacement to me when a minor crash killed the GPS module on mine.
Yes. You are correct
Parrot mini where are you?
Nowhere to be found.
Holy stone is nice
After seeing this my conclusion is DJI still master the drone market hands down..
to me the DJI looks less saturated and more natural and the camera (gimbal) movement seems smoother.
I agree
Why would you register a drone lol.
I dont need follow me i need occusync thats it i have the anafi it has all that but occusync
Not to be mean but you comparing the wrong drones you should do the DJI mini 2 and the hubsan Zino mini
The Hubsan Zino Mini doesn’t really exist yet but we will compare them when it does.
Very good content
Thanks
I watched this video thinking that this will feature the Hubsan Mini Pro, as indicated in the title. I was wrong. This focused on the Fimi Mini and DJI Mini.
By the way, good comparison between the Fimi Mini and DJI Mini. But that is not the reason I watched this video.
güzel bir paylaşım
Saidü ratnatsim!
No company will even come close to dji except 1 AUTEL .
Maybe
